  • The victory in Vietnam in 1975 was a victory for all Vietnamese to live in one unified country, unfortunately, VC messed the country up with military rules.

  • They're our heroes! Long Live Republic of South Vietnam!!

  • tiger stripe FTW!!!!!!

  • Nice clip. This was without a doubt the Baaaaaaadest training School in the military.

  • I was a gunner in the 281st Assault Helicopter Co. assigned to RECONDO school in Nha Trang. The graduates were truly elite soldiers and expert jungle fighters. I flew many missions with them, some of which were graduation day missions. For graduation, the teams were expected to make contact with enemy forces and engage in actual firefights. How many schools in the military require that? RECONDO was for real.

  • They had shoot back targets that could potentially kill you if you weren't careful. Another school that was almost as bad was SERE school. Fucking badass

  • "the deadliest school on earth"my father was an instructor there in 67-68.he said the exams were real missions.

  • I believe Australian SAS trained at the MACV Recondo school and after the first couple of SAS went through the school asked for a couple of SAS to act as cadre, as the Aussie SAS had a lot of experience with jungle wqrfare from Malaya and Borneo and because the Aussie army (like the brits) has and had back then such a large emphasis on patrolling. The worlds premier jungle fighters, back in the day, up there with the Ghurkas.

  • Oh please frio109, do your own research and stop listening to others for your own opinion. By the way, what unit did you say you served in? Hopefully you're not like VP Cheney who chickened out of serving yet promotes war as he best solution for solving problems.

  • The training was good. The soldiers were good. The Political Leadership in Washington failed as did the Media. To be fair. The KGB ran propaganda programs in the States that started the anti-war movement and they were part of the main stream media propaganda campaign.

  • Now that we know the Gulf of Tonkin incident was a farce (just like our reasoning for invading Iraq) it was Lyndon Johnson and the Joint Chiefs of Staff that failed us as a nation. Anybody that enjoys war (like some who post here) should be committed for life. PS- in case any of you armchair generals should question my patriotism, I am an honorably discharged veteran.

  • Was it? Was it really a farce or is that just somethi9ng you read in a revisionist so call history book?

  • No. It was a farce. Really.

  • @mvonwahlde uranutcase

  • @artrees47 We won all the battles in Vietnam, but Vietnam was, finally, conquered by the Communists. Thirty-five years later, the Communist victory didn't make one damn bit of difference in the overall scheme of things. If that's not a farce, I don't know what a farce is.

What the were we doing in Vietnam? We were doing what we were told, and that's about it. It was a stupid war we were guided into by Eisenhower and Kennedy, and bloody well forced into by LBJ and Nixon.

    Dominoes, HAH.

  • @mvonwahlde

You are right. The communist murdered millions after we left.

  • what frio109 says is true. the USSR did give money to many protest groups.

  • DogM,

The first Communist group in America was founded in the 1890's but it wasn't intill after the fall of Russia that they really had any power. The U of Texas displayed "the Communist influence in America in the 1920's" several years ago. I never knew intill then, how deep their infiltration was.

  • @frio109 i agree with 2/3 of what you say. the military was definitely good and the leadership in washington was definitely poor. but i don't know if the kgb was capable of running propaganda campaigns WITHIN the US.

  • @truecinema

    They were.

  • callate culero...

  • I loved reading about this training in books!

    It was really interesting...

  • What was that attached to their carrying handle when they were shooting off thosse sandbags?

  • search for "choc cong an" you see more movies like this.

  • Hoorah! im going thru some Modern Recondo Training right now from an EX-Green Beret

  • "Modern RECONDO Training"!? by an EX-Green Beret no less...what color is that beret now, yellow?

I didn't know hats had an interest in teaching airsoft to kids.

  • If you did it you wound understand

its not like this stuff but

    more like guerilla war fare.

  • If you say so...but what do I know?

Teaching guerrilla warfare to people whose ultimate intentions are unknown, is like handing a very sharp set of knives to a babies and expecting them to make sushi.

  • well we asked him to teach us so we can have an edge in the game. which we do, Our Club has a very high standard in game play (no cheating, sportsmanship, and intense games) so its fun!

i know its not the real thing but damn its kicks ass.

  • read the book recondo by Larry Chambers, it is amazing

  • Read The Short-Timers. it is fiction, but its the best read ever. Full Metal Jacket was based off of it. you have to buy it online cuz its no longer in print. there are plenty copies out there tho.

  • I read it and everything else from Chambers and his buddies.

  • Read Special Men by Dennis Foley

  • 20th SOS Green Hornets Helicopter Squadron

  • my dad was in the MACV. I never really knew what that meant except the trained vietnamese or something

  • military assistance command vietnam

  • i knew what MACV stood for. i just didnt know what the macv did really.

  • Yeah my dad was too. MACV did things that no one could imagine.Dad has two MACV ID tattoos because they didn't wear dogtags behind enemy lines. He was a firebug.

  • my dad was with sog from feb68-feb69. what it means is your dad was part of a group that was made up of some of the most elite warriors to ever fight for america. he can't talk about alot of it, but know that he did what many men couldn't or wouldn't do. the men of sog are true heros.

  • thanks for the info. I was always curious why he never spent much time talking about it whenever i asked.

  • Your father is a true warrior.

  • Sick Beat, really set a good mood. Too bad it wasnt like 5 or 10 minutes long though.

  • Awesome ! Looks like rare footage of recondo...
