It's ridiculous to deny citizenship to 2nd generation immigrants. Most of these people are as greek as any "real" greek. CitIzenship is a privilege not a right. Just because their parents arrived in that country (probably most illegally) shouldn't automatically give citizenship rights to their offspring.

I agree that Greece is one of the most bureaucratized countries in Europe, but.. Whatever the reason is behind why these people left their country, they have to adapt to their new home and live by the new rules. In the past people who had to escape from outside word often seek the refuge in monasteries. The goverment used to give citizenships in exchange of vote and privileges and while all the reaserches showed that greece had a major demographic problem the population rose!

There is no solution, its a big problem but theres no solution. Basicly the situation is like this:
A country of 10 mil. cant take care and handle 2 mil. illegal immigrants who came altogether in 20 years. They are too many for a country like greece

You are profiting yourself from us, so don't bash on these immigrants as being profiters. Just come up wit a decent immigration policy so you can manage integration and deportation. @kenjuma they are willing to work but Greece has no jobs to give them. our economy is weak and we dont have industry like Germany or France. i understand ur sympathy for these people because i feel sorry for them too. Everyone has the right to live in peace. You should blame those who started the war(guess who) and not Greece.

@DoomSc0t of course I don;t blame Greece. I was just ranting because of some people who go too far against these people and actually blame them for being there. I thought it was fair to point out that Greece is actually living of others too. Not that it's such a terrible thing cause that's what the EU is for, to help eachother. But one you shouldn't say that it's normal to treat these people like garbage and act like the Greeks are doing everything so perfect and are being done wrong here.

@kenjuma Sorry i didn't understand your comment from "but one... to the end because it makes no sense:) Nevermind, Greece's financial problem is another story and has nothing to do with our conversation. The fact is that our economy isn't strong enough to support 1000000+ legal or illegal immigrants. This has nothing to do with racism or whatever you call it, its just a simple fact.

The problem is more complex than what people are willing to say.
"Developed" countries destroy those people's countries, their infrastructure, steal their resources, support or ignore their terrorist governments (like Taliban) and so we make their countries very dangerous for people to live ...
So after we have destroyed their countries and stolen their resources we blame that they tried to escape from hell ...

I agree that Greece is one of the most bureaucratized countries in Europe, but.. Whatever the reason is behind why these people left their country, they have to adapt to their new home and live by the new rules. In the past people who had to escape from outside word often seek the refuge in monasteries. They could stay and no questions were asked as long as they obeyed the rules of the monastery and showed respect to it inhabitants. If not - the door is open..

Who do i consider an ethnic Greek? The individual must have either 1 Greek parent or grand parent, If they have no blood ties to Greece, then at-least have a spiritual one as a baptized adherent of the global orthodox christian community or byzantine Catholicism, If Not, marry a Greek.
