I still think these test are a bit stupid because the weight to power ratio of the bike is so much bigger then the cars'. the bike has more horsepower then it weighs, so if you'd smash like 1600 hp in the ferrari and then some technology so it can handle it, maybe this test would go different. But I prefer bikes none the less cause they cost much less and are more fun to drive :)
To be honest...I am completely happy with my Yamaha's. I don't think I would enjoy owning or riding that bike; to much money to lay down, and to many Italian problems. Beautiful machines though.

@thespd03 Fair enough mate probably didnt notice the final selling price as opposed to projected selling price in pounds sterling but then seeing as even at £40,000 I still couldnt afford it (oh if only ) that may explain it (way out of my league) .Although I didnt mention a choice of saving which much as I like bikes l have to agree I'd save the car too purely because of what its worth :D

Cars are almost always faster than bikes due to the way better cornering and grip whilst braking. Acceleration is the only part where bikes are superior.
Pointless comparison though. The MCN rider don´t seem to go faster then I could (and I´m not very good) and the car looked like it was on the way to get icecream for kids.

We shot this feature over 2 days and had a load of fun. Unfortunately a lot of the video got corrupted, one of these 1 in a million couldn't possibly happen things that did! So we lost about 80% of the footage. Most of the video shown was basically chopped together from bits and pieces. Ce la vie - bike still dusted the car easily. I have some helmet video that was from a cam in Neevseys helmet that's got a bit more substance in it. If I can put my hands on it I'll post it if anyone interested.
@AxxeelR8 The Atom would probably win. It's no secret that the closer you get to something like an F1 car, it will spank a bike every time. But really that's not saying a lot, because I can get a bike used for 4k that will destroy any car I see in a typical year.

@Fonno88 no mate, the RR in the name of the Duc means that it is Road Replica (sometimes Race Replica) which means that Ducati Desmosedici RR is a street legal bike. And no its not the same as Capirossis bike, all RR bikes are styled like track moto GP bikes but are much weaker, heavier and have all the things like lights, RW mirrors, directional lights etc. factory mounted.
F1 is NOT street legal, F430 Scuderia and Ducati Desmosedici RR are.
The Desmosedici costs about $60,000...kinda pricey but hell of a great bike. You can buy a kawasaki zx10r or bmw s1000rr, turbocharge or supercharge it for a fraction of the price, and you'd smoke a desmosedici. A 2011 zx10r (us version is restricted) puts about ~163hp at the rear wheel, BMW S1000rr puts about 170-173 hp at the rear wheel. When it comes to city driving, a scooter can beat a ferrari because you can lane split cars! Its all relative my friends!

That was in no way a full bore start with launch control not ony was he short shifting at no point was he pushing the grip envelope of that car, even in the tight corners there was not even a peep of tyre squeal! and the back never stepped out once!!, and with a 510 hp rear drive scuderia!! he either temporarily altered the laws of physics or frankly wasnt even near the potential limit of the ferrari.
@llucaskelly I agree completely. He made no attempt at coming anywhere close to the limits of the car. At no point was he near redlining the engine or the edge of tire adhesion. This was a waste of time and a smack in the face of motorsports enthusiasts.
An F1 car would obliterate any bike on any circuit but bikes are better for racing. F1 cars can't follow close behind other cars because of how it affects the aerodynamics.
Bikes give you more bang for your buck. You'd have o spend 6 figures to get a car that performs as well as a $10k bike.

@goonballer actually this desmo got more power than bmw. Its got over 200 hp at the rear wheel on this desmosecidi. If you notice with mcn, they rarely ever put a ducati in a test with full exhaust systems, but I think this one has been slightly tuned. Power is nothing unless someone can use it. I think Ducati need to sort out their gp bike for poor Rossi.

Unless there is way more corners then streight aways, the bike will always win, with a trained rider. 200+Hp and 400ish LBS compaired to 500+HP and 3000lbs for the car.

@Fonno88 no mate, the RR in the name of the Duc means that it is Road Replica (sometimes Race Replica) which means that Ducati Desmosedici RR is a street legal bike. And no its not the same as Capirossis bike, all RR bikes are styled like track moto GP bikes but are much weaker, heavier and have all the things like lights, RW mirrors, directional lights etc. factory mounted.
F1 is NOT street legal, F430 Scuderia and Ducati Desmosedici RR are.

The Desmosedici costs about $60,000...kinda pricey but hell of a great bike. You can buy a kawasaki zx10r or bmw s1000rr, turbocharge or supercharge it for a fraction of the price, and you'd smoke a desmosedici. A 2011 zx10r (us version is restricted) puts about ~163hp at the rear wheel, BMW S1000rr puts about 170-173 hp at the rear wheel. When it comes to city driving, a scooter can beat a ferrari because you can lane split cars! Its all relative my friends!

There are two people in the car! of course it will have a disadvantage, why go to extremes to lighten the ferrari just to drop a 180lb-ish camera man in it. I am not saying the car would win without the cameraman in the passenger seat, but I would like to see the times without the second person.

He plainly didn't know the track either , or how to get the best from a supercar, if the helmsman had been a driving god like tiff needell or jason plato or evn a professional performance car journo, like the bike rider then you would have this half arsed affair courtesy of MCN.
and i know some biker is going to whine on about superior power to weight ratio blah bah!! i think even with a better car driver the bike may still have perhaps won but it would have been hell of a lot closer.

That was in no way a full bore start with launch control not ony was he short shifting at no point was he pushing the grip envelope of that car, even in the tight corners there was not even a peep of tyre squeal! and the back never stepped out once!!, and with a 510 hp rear drive scuderia!! he either temporarily altered the laws of physics or frankly wasnt even near the potential limit of the ferrari.

@llucaskelly I agree completely. He made no attempt at coming anywhere close to the limits of the car. At no point was he near redlining the engine or the edge of tire adhesion. This was a waste of time and a smack in the face of motorsports enthusiasts.

An F1 car would obliterate any bike on any circuit but bikes are better for racing. F1 cars can't follow close behind other cars because of how it affects the aerodynamics.
Bikes give you more bang for your buck. You'd have o spend 6 figures to get a car that performs as well as a $10k bike.

@ExtremeDeathman no the best isn't the S1000RR that is just the bike with the most HP and the Fireblade isn't anything special either , it would have to go to the Aprillia RSV4 factory APRC or the new 201hp MV Agusta F4rr the Italians will always lead in the motor world.

@goonballer actually this desmo got more power than bmw. Its got over 200 hp at the rear wheel on this desmosecidi. If you notice with mcn, they rarely ever put a ducati in a test with full exhaust systems, but I think this one has been slightly tuned. Power is nothing unless someone can use it. I think Ducati need to sort out their gp bike for poor Rossi.

Unless there is way more corners then streight aways, the bike will always win, with a trained rider. 200+Hp and 400ish LBS compaired to 500+HP and 3000lbs for the car.
