  • Oh my gosh. I feel so dumb after watching this video. Now I know why my horse moves her hip to pick up a canter.....stupid me. This is an easier move to perform than I thought! Thank you so much! SO much help!! :)

  • im from louisiana <3 ! and i ride <3

  • Best video on YouTube for lead changes..he actually shows you step..by step how it's done...

  • great video. I've been reading, and asking trainers, and attending clinics. I practice my changes while walking the pattern. I was still getting confused. No more thanks.

  • Very easy to understand. I am starting barrels just for fun on my 15 year old mare. She knows her lead changes but problem is I am a little rusty.

    As well, when I put my leg on her to cue for it, I am wanting a nice, easy departure. Instead, she instantly picks up the gallop or something close. I've tried to "bottle" the energy but it isn't really getting me anywhere. Tips? Ideas? I take constructive criticism.

  • that was very easy to understand...:) now i will try to go ride my horse and teach him how to sidepass and everything thanks a bunch...!!!!

  • This same basic cue is taught in most all 4-H manuals. However, it needs to be updated so that the horses head is not turning out of your circle. Undoubtably you can pick up the lead in this way, but it's unbalanced if the horses head is looking outside the circle.

  • Thanks so much for the information!!

    I haven't been able to change her leads with several other techniques, so I'm excitied to try this one, I have high hopes!!

    Thanks again!!

  • I once new an amazing speed event horse a couple years back. Big, gorgeous paint gelding. And man could he run! But he started backing up all the time, even in the middle of running a pattern at a show. Is there another way to relax your horse than backing up? I was told the trainer used the same technique(backing to relax) so the horse eventually started backing up on his own from anxiety no matter where he was. Have you seen this? Do you have any info or suggestions about this?

  • @Brogers87 Hey are you still having some problems with the horse backing up? I would like to offer some help if you still are. I knew a couple of horses that did this, and worked them through it.

  • I have been watching eXhorses for about an hour now. Just wanted to say these videos are some of the best explained training videos available. Thank you so much!

  • Thank you. Well explained. Well demonstrated.

  • Wow , you just good as any of hi doller trainers out there. This video explains what i needed to , know. Thank you!!!!!

  • Just wondering what your cue to for the lope departure is. The horse obviously clearly understands it. It's so subtle that I can't see it. Do you lean forward in the saddle a bit, or squeeze a little with your seat, or???

    Thank you!

  • Great video!! very helpful

    cheers =]
