The Red Army was advancing through a landscape of unbelievable atrocities and was going to have it's own back.The last organized unit defending Berlin was the Charlemagne division, French traitors who knew they were going to hanged however the war turned out. I was born in West Germany 1992 moved to Australia NSW with my parents when I was 6 months. Really I can classify myself as German then and my parents are both German and they don't care at all for past actions. My grandfather had to fight on the Eastern front decides to surrender on the Western front and he went through all of it without seeing 1 atrocity against civilians only military personol.
@Eaglex2010 Perhaps your parents and grandfather spare you their past rather than share it with you. The war took 58m lives, civilians and soldiers. Some 12m were in labour/concentration camps; millions killed in battle; hundreds of thousands maimed, tortured and killed. Seeing only one atrocity may have been a blind eye to that which was evident.
