  • very bright ,,not the system ,, its jut's the crap music

  • Which loudspeakers and amplification are being used?

  • I agree AIF should be used in this test or at least WAV as the Wadia can decode it to the full!

  • Did you use Apple Lossless Encoding (ALE) or AIFF? If you used just ALE, then try the same test with AIFF. ALE isn't fully uncompressed (it's called a "lossy" format. Not quite fully lossless).

  • I think AIFF is the best to use on Apple classic

I used this on my Wadia & a tube DAC & I think it is better format sound wise.

  • Hey, can anyone pls tell me what song this is?@ rolfruit: impressive setup

  • Putting the WADIA to the test with the MLevinson only proves its huge qualities for a low budget price!

  • you need to extract with EAC software with a plextor cd drive and choose the wav instead if lossless this wiil probably take the competitors closer

  • Why so idiot?

When using the ipod the DAC in the ipod/reciever does the conversion and when using a CDP the DAC in the CDP is doing the conversion.

Of course the CD will be better...

When the source is digital the only thing that matters is the DAC.

  • Yes the dac is all that it matters & that's why i use the digital output from the itransport to get the digital signal from the ipod (bypassing ipod's int. dac ) & straight onto my mark 30.5 dac.

  • hi there, thanks for the suggestions, a major upgrade for this setup is to be expected soon. Am looking for a new poweramp & a better digital processor.

  • All the money spent on audio equipment is waisted if your listening room is not treated with acoustic panels and diffusers

  • I would like to think so, that is if you pair the wadia with a decent dac (such as the Chord dac64, Theta Pro Basic III, etc).

I do have a demo video of the wadia itransport + dac64 uploaded you should check it out.

  • Thx for the interest, the dac used in this video is a Mark Levinson No.30.5 digital processor, considered to be a reference class dac by most, costs just over £10,000.

The purpose of this test by having it hooked up to the wadia itransport is to test how good of a digital transport the wadia really was, but unfortunately it was no match to the No.31.5 it was competing against (costing £9,000 btw), so i don't think anyone should worry, because it was beaten by the best!

  • Perhaps next time i'll put up tests between the itransport and a sub £2,000 cd transport, & see which one comes out top!
