  • Loved every second of this, especially the haka at the end :P

  • Proud to be Canadian and part of the common wealth. Our people in the different countries around the world, loyal to England are the most respected people on the whole wide world. the same can not be say for the USA ASSHOLES,the whole world hates them.

  • Da Drum Major is Da Awsum...and so is the rest of the tattoo XD

  • Talk about a fast march!

  • Oh if we were only american, sorry to flashy.

  • scrotum it holds your testes in, scrotum it's just a piece of skin, scrotum don't overload or you'll explode 'em your scrotum hurray !!

  • espectacular saludos desde Chile :D

  • We have a category of judging in US drum and bugle corps competition. We call it "General Effect (GE)", or "the overall appeal" of a marching-musical unit's total

program. If ever there was - and is- an organization that has captured the very essence of GE, it's the New Zealand Army Band. I've watched every one of the band's YouTube performances. The 1988 Sydney Tattoo is beyond outstanding, but every show is extraordinary! Well done. You've broken the code on the word "entertainment."

  • Absolutely brilliant, well done the Kiwis and oooooo how I love the Haka, very macho :)

  • Now this is entertainment!

  • rofl austin powers

  • Brilliant

  • Whats the song before the James Bond theme?

  • we have just had a NZ officer attached to us for six months (ex long look) and when i showed her this she just went oh yes the boys have done me proud

  • Muy buena banda....saludos desde Chile a los amigos de Nueva Zelanda.

  • What is the Song at 1:29 called?

  • This is the best ever! Go Kiwis!

  • Really enjoyed having these guy's and gal's play at our parades, felt good marching to a good band and loved marching to their bass drum

  • that drum major is crazy as hell

  • Heh, it's good to see a military band with a sense of humor about them even at festivals like the tattoo. I bet you wouldn't find the Coldstream Guards doing this! Though they have been heard to play the Imperial March from Star Wars outside Buckingham Palace....

  • the haka at the end is much scarier when the nz all blacks rugby team do it

  • Does anyone got the previous tattoo performance, the queens 60th with the NZAB, as I heard from some people it was better than this one? Please post if possible. Thanks.

  • Nothing fake about these guys! Ya just gotta love em! I went to see them the year before last year with the school, we had to each look after a little kid and take them with us. So funny! These guys make New Zealand proud!

  • Austin Powers theme...

  • Haha I love the NZ Army Band!

  • Pride of the NZArmy!

  • What happened to Drum Major Carson?

  • great stuff, the haka is a nice touch

  • absoloutly brilliant cant wait to c how good they are this year!!!!!!!!!!

  • Whats the song at 1:00 to 1:30?

    Thanks.

  • joevikdyl1 - the tune between 1.00 & 1.30 is the march, "Colonel Bogey". It is well remembered for its use in a war movie called "Bridge On The River Kwai", a factional drama about allied forces prisoners of the Japanese during World War Two.

  • Thanks a lot mate. its a really good tune. :D

  • the song in between the time 3:00 and 3:16 is from the swan lake, called dance of the swans. it is by tchaikovsky

the nz army band is amazing! i had the chance to play with some of them for a week when i was in the NSSBB. They are awesome people and their playing is amazing!!

It made me see what i can aim for. when i get older some day i want to join the NZ army band :)

  • Uauu!...Touching, fantastic performance!...

    Bravo! New Zeland Army Band!...

    Congratulations here of Brazil...

  • does anyone know the name of the music between 3:00 and 3:16 please?

  • It's the "Dance of the Little Swans" music from Act 2 of the ballet Swan Lake, composed by Tchaikovksy.

  • Thanks a lot!

  • Son unos cracks! Go New Zealand!

  • Yes, the NZ Army band is one of the best.

  • Holy crap. That was wicked.

  • I liked them so much! Congratulations from Brazil

  • I wish the narrator wasn't babbling over the haka

  • muiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiito bommmmmmmmmmm

  • cool as lol

  • I liked it though its a bit informal for a military tatoo at my point of view. Anyway sweet style, greetings from Chile.

  • this is awesome! having been in a marching band once i know how hard it can be to march and play clean at the same time... these guys are so precise and clean...great job guys !!

  • lol awesome go new zealand.

  • Brilliant, Great good fellow Kiwian

  • Proud to be kiwi

  • I Come from British Military Stock! Bloody Briliant! You incorperate NZ native culture with British culture, not in a superior way, but an enrichining cultural way! God Bless you! We Britons painfully have much too learn!

  • i'm australian

    and this is awesome

  • Makes me proud to be a kiwi!!

Yep...that band sure does us justice.

  • Im Aussie and I love these guys, alsways garanteed a laugh and bloody good musicians too

  • We might not have the money other nations have for their army bands but we do what we must with what we got.

  • Go Kiwi...... Respect from a Taffy !

  • That was awesome.

  • whete song is at 30

  • colenel bogie, classic brass/military band march

  • CLASSY!!!!

Yes, once again we down here in NZ prove that we do it best...

    AWESOME STUFF!!!!

Clearly waterloo3 isnt open minded about our unique(yet utterly amazing) style.

    Dude.

    GET A LIFE

  • i was at this tattoo and it was brilliant

  • They Whoot!

  • waterloo3 go jump mate... when was the last time YOU GOT INVITED TO THE TATTOO????

I would like to see you try and do the same, with the same honour of not only being a KIWI but performing in frount of royalty....you idiot

  • NZ sets a strange standard for band. These guys aren't even a pure military band. If you look at their instrumentation it's all brass - no winds section. To me that means a civy band, not a serious military band. The disco moves and James Bond is just silly, and not worthy of a central army band representing a nation's military. If this is the image NZ wants to put out to the rest of the world fine - seems pretty odd to me! These jokers are good players, but not serious in what they do.

  • I'd put money on it that you could not do the same.Perhaps this is your Waterloo.

I think that this performance is very good.

I will tune in next year to see if you can do better.

  • The NZ Army Band never claim to be a "military band" they just happen to be a band in the military and the NZ military are incredibly proud of them and support them anywhere they are invited to go. If anyone is "stuck in there old colonial ways" its the British bands, the Kiwis are innovative and amazing.

  • Well, I am glad you have clarified that the NZ Band are not a Military Band. Now I understand their style better and it makes more sense. They are just a carnival band wearing British army style uniforms. As for British army bands being stuck in the old style I suggest you go hear one of their concerts sometime and I think you might be surprised at the quality and versatility of the music and arrangements. Some old style in these hyper-artififial times can't hurt.

  • yes but were not talking about concerts were talking about marching desplays. ive herd both the Coldtream guards and the new zealand army band in concert, both were fantastic shows with brilliant music and arrangments. the new zealand army band is not a carnival band, there the new zealand armys band and they do the normal military parades just like the Guards and marines etc but their marching desplay style is was sets them apart, and they produce an awsome brass sound

  • I guess I have only seen the NZ Band at Tattoos where they like to do their cute march and music displays. Didn't the NZ Band use to be a normal military band at some point? I have some old LPs of them about 20 yrs ago where they seemed to play in a more standard style. When did they start the modern disco moves/music style in their displays?

  • good to see your coming round to it lol the new zealand army band has always been a brass band but has always played military music and many more styles, if you go to the new zealand army web site you can see the CDs. there are 3 part time army bads here that are military bands but there rubbish! their desplays may look "cute" but it takes ours of hard work and dedication to get it rite and the drill is far supirior to any other band. are you in a military band? you sound like you are.

  • NZ Army Band was formed in 1964 as a brass band. It has never been a 'Military Band' in the sense of having woodwind instruments. As for 'standard style'? Well,I guess they stopped playing that as much when people stopped wanting to hear it as much! When the NZ Army uses the band as a PR and recruiting vehicle (as I would suggest most service bands are to some degree) then it pays to have a number of more modern styles to supplement the traditional ones. 1988 Aus tattoo has this style too.

  • Quite well from all accounts I hear. A little scuffle on the Dardenelles in Turkey in 1915 sort of established that one. I recall that the bungling idiots who devised and ordered that campaign came from 'Ol Blighty'. I guessing that you are campaigning for the British troops of today to wear the 'red coats' of yester-year also(sigh). Such tradition. So you stay with your point of view that all things antiquated and british must therefore be best and the rest of us will move on with the times.

  • Unless you are prepared to move with the times, a brass band's fan base will simply die out.Luckily the NZ Army band have acknowledged that, they have learned over the years to read their audiences, a time for everything Traditional included.

Not that I am especially predisposed to military or brass bands, Especially if you are an indication of what a trad military band fan is! I respect their musicianship and their display skills. Even if I cannot respect their current leadership

  • What the fuck would u no bitch. Dont b jealous that a lil young country can perform with high standards

  • Yes, I agree. To be honest I think its not anything to to with the people in the band, but the administration lacking of funding to hire the extra players etc. Also I think the flippant nature of the band can be put down to certain types of NZers having some kind of aversion to "formality". The musicians are pretty good though.

  • They're so funny !

    I luv them !

  • these guys are fucking hillarious but using a trumpet as a gun??? come on you might as well pretend your band majors stick is a sword lol cool songs though very awesome stuff

  • just to clarify, there not trumpets there cornets and its not a band majors stick, its a drum majors mace. but your rite about one thing, there amazing!

  • that was dope !

  • they are HORRIBLE highland dancer !

    and i love them lol

  • wow that was great! I loved it when they started to dance! wish I could have been there!

  • jejejejjee tiene mucha gracia----------elegancia--------musicalidad buenos
