this is the end of religious shopping in rome, and the end of the pax romana as we know it. the romans were known for allowing the peoples that conquered to have whatever religion they wanted. and to have their own "state" within the roman republic. constantine changed all that. a theocracy emerged.

It's so awkward when they consider all types of "Christians" to be just different kinds rather than true Christians (Catholic) vs. heretics. So they include arians, gnostics, etc. and it becomes awkward to describe why some books don't belong. Notice when she's like "this didn't belong to the canon of SOME Christians". They make it sound like there's just all kinds of different Christians and they all have their own Biblical canons.

The narrator and the "Scholars" were exteremely careful not to use the word "Catholic", though Eusebius did and Constantine did. As far as the canonization of the Bible goes, Jesus never said anything about a Bible. Jesus said He would send the Paraclete, who would teach the Church all things. So don't hitch your wagon to the Bible - hitch it to the Church - the pillar of truth.

@phil8888 - to contest the teachings of the Church based upon one's interpretation of scripture is a recipe for disaster. Look at the US Constitution - 2 -3 pages we've been arguing over for 200 years. The Bible is thousands of pages. Without an infallible teacher, the Bible is no smarter, sillier, less selfish or avaricious than you.

on the contrary, im going to school to be a religious studies professor. and i DONT agree with the church. maybe individuals should seek truth instead of finding solace in that its already figured out. the bible is full of contradictions. no "church" can mend that.

@bammbamm12 so you dont think that the ecunemical councils and such could be the work of men arguing over who jesus was and just going on the consensus (majority) opinion and establishing it as "orthodoxy" and suppressing all other opinions? as a minor example, st jerome translated the OT of the bible into latin vulgate from hebrew, believing the greek of the septuagint and the dueterocanonical books therein as incorrect, while the dueterocanonical books of the septuagint were accepted.

One thing never mentiond is how the Parthanon and the Acropolis was destroyed by Christians. Old places of worship were either taken over or destroyed. The ancient wonders of the world were destroyed by Christians, who HATED everything that came before them. This is why it took nearly 1500 years for Europe to emerge from darkness and rediscover its real culture. This has to be seen as a crime, really. Instead, this religion still succeeds in enslaving minds and spirits in the West.

Its true the bible was tampered with. No doubt. The Quran itself is flawed as well. Heck, Muhammad even incorrectly agreed that Jesus was born of a virgin Mary (which we now know was fable added to his story), So, though the bible is no perfect document, the Quran is far from the gospel itself.

Isaiah 7:14 and Isaiah 9:6 speaks about the birth of the Messiah. Immanuel from Isaiah 7:14 means "God with us". God came to earth from heaven and incarnated and manifested in the flesh in the person of Yeshua (JESUS) the Messiah. Yeshua HaMashiach is Immanuel, in other words Yeshua HaMashiach is The Incarnation of Yahweh.
