I dont know a lot about aircraft but I do know that the belly on these X's really set them apart from anything made, they are absolutely stunning aircraft.
How About Range, and Cabin PSI relative to sea level cabin, etc passenger load,Avionic Package with self diagnostics to black box, Hud G650 Great Plane in this CLASS YOU GET WHAT YOU PAYFOR !
O.K. you people don't even know what it's like to ride in a Citation X!!!!!! I worked on them "brand new," and had many rides, including one right before "delivery," and it was AWESOME!!! When I think back, I feel so lucky that I was able to get rides on the world's fastest business jet.
Not sure about the Citation X, but the the Sovereign, CJ3 and CJ4, we make the empanage, wingbox, wing spars from cessna. The controls are cable actuated not hydraulic (unlike Bombardiers). The question is to whomever flown a cessna and bombardier, is it true that comabred to hydraulic controls, cessnas feel like flying tin cans?
hell, go look online for Used Corporate aircraft, and you'll see these , perhaps late 90's versions or so, for $8 - $10 mil. heck, your average run-of-th-mill middle class millionaire could easily get one of these. .92 mach baby!
Not to be difficult, but a Citation X does not cost that much. You can purchase a new Citation X (Green) for about $22 million, give or take. I don't know where you got $40 million because that would be way too much for a plane of that size. For $40 million you are talking about planes like the: G350 possibly a G450, or maybe a Global 5000; you might be a little short though. These planes won't fly as fast, but they offer more comfort, longer range, larger payload & allow for more passengers!
I'd go for the Citation X speed over any other planes comfort personally. Also, the reduced air traffic at 45,000 feet allows the Citation X to cruise at a faster speed than other lower flying altitude planes.
I hear you & agree for the most part. The X is extremely fast, but it only has a range of 3K miles + it only seats 8. I think if you were only flying within the US, CA & MX it is tuff to beat. However, if you want to fly farther, no stops, more people and fly at 51K feet you can do better. I guess if you had the money buying two planes would kick ass. One for pure speed & one for long hauls. We all need to start playing the lottery. LOL. PS. Check out the new G650. That will settle everything
The range is around 3K nautical miles and that's not so bad at all! Embraer's Legacy 600/650 and Bombardier's Challenger 300/850 fly more or less as far as the citation X despite being bigger.
Best to lease them and cut your cost , i'd go with Beech Super King Air, retains its value better than C-X,i'd want a C-X if it had thrust vectoring VTOL capabilities:) that are just around the corner.
Wow that is sweet. Great cameral work! I agree, those engines are massive. I am curious as to what the maximum rate of climb is with no passengers and a light fuel load at sea level.
Actually the Citation X does not rocket off the ground normally if loaded for a decent sized trip, per the AOM. With an average TOW of 31850 lbs, it would require approx. 4230' at SL on a standard day. Here the aircraft clearly gets off the ground before that, guessing about 2500' from the time of full throttle to rotation.
I'd shit my pants if I were on a plane doing that, but it's cool as hell to watch. Thanks for posting the vid!

Correction: THE fastest buisness jet, so Cessna Claims
XPlaneAviator 2 years ago
@XPlaneAviator
It's more than a claim, it's documented - .921 mach.
The G650 will (if it hasn't already) do just a tiny bit more, .925 mach, but geez louise, you could get 3 Citation X's for the price of one G650!

Citation X is the only Cessna Citation model to have hydraulic flight controls.
ejfannin 2 years ago
that is correct. They are an absolute joy to fly and have immense power and altitude along with range.
cessnawings67 2 years ago
But in emergencies can it be controlled manually?
4kamaru 2 years ago
Yes but there are two independent systems and an aux hydraulic system that can be powered upon an emergency.

A beauty isn't she. Cessna have just announced their latest plane, the Citation Columbus - a Citation X on steroids. Have a look at Cessna's website.
Kentuckyhorse1 4 years ago
The Columbus is a Full-Cabin Jet, not an Executive Jet.
pauldays 4 years ago
They're all executive jets. Anyway, what's this go to do with my comment.
Kentuckyhorse1 4 years ago
The Columbus is only .82 mach tho i believe. I know its quite a bit slower just looks like the X only larger. I think I'll stick with flying the X.
