  • Black sabbath of course , ledzeppelin was not metal!!!

  • @capudicapi thats tru but for there time led zepplin was considerd a heavy metal band until other bands like Black Sabbath came out, then they were considered the heavyer end of the spectram

  • love black sabbath and led zeppelin and deep purple but these are metal bands . but who made the first Metal sound not a band but a song noone could touch hendrix .

  • hendrix was all styles blues , hard rock , soft rock , AND Heavy Metal was no type of music style Hendrix couldn't do period . and who do almost all in metal look up too it's not black sabbath or led zeppelin . look at zakk wylde todays best and you will see he even named his son after Hendrix . doubt hendrix did metal -- killing floor -- smashing of amps and many more can name the father of metal .

  • hendrix was the blues. blue cheer was west coast nutty rock, cause californians couldnt play electric guitars; they just yanked the whammy. metal started in the u.k. with iommi and deep purple. i am 60 and there back in the day. also i am black . metal is european in origin, using modes or scales rather than blues riffs. plus the mythos is nordic.

  • many people will say,"oh it started with sabbath" or zeppelin or cream or deep purple or blue cheer or MC5.BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT,

JAMES MARSHALL HENDRIX STARTED THAT SOUND.

AND NOBODY WILL EVER COME CLOSE.

  • @gibsongold1970 yes correct it was his sound no doubt the father of metal give jimi his correct place in history .

  • WTF - Cream and Hendrix are metal? I would strongly disagree. Led Zeppelin, OK, Blue Cheer, OK, Blue Oyster Cult, OK, Sabbath, Purple, OK.

  • @DarthKrattus early

  • @lotrringereras Hm... I don't think that cream and Hendrix really had the heavy, stomping riffs or solos that other bands had (except for maybe purple haze) but w/e.

  • Gotta love the MC5, they were a loud and intense band. But they were a proto-punk/garage band, I don't see them as being a metal influence.

I think Sir Lord Baltimore and maybe even Budgie would be worth mentioning

  • First galluping guitar riff was probably Ted Nugents band the Amboy Dukes in 67 or 68 on the song Journey to the center of the mind. Not to mention Ted's distorted power chords near the end of the song. In my opinion the song is an example of very early metal.

  • Black Sabbath rule.

  • i don't know why but I got a feeling that nobody who comments on this vid are metal fans actually.

  • Metal is there to satisfy all the people who have no taste in music. It has its purpose.

  • John Bonham and Jimmy Page individually deserve much credit.

  • Upon your ignorance we will feast, you fool

  • @hazalad182 ur wasting ur time if u try to say your oppinion in a metal video thats different that ours

  • would like to add two 1968 demonic rock hits, Arthur Brown 'fire' and the Gun

    'Race with the Devil'

  • because uriah heep were rip offs of deep purple

  • I say credit to metal's birth goes to both Blue Cheer and Black Sabbath. Cheer created the heavy, distored, overdriving sound on Vincebus Eruptum. Sabbath not only enhanced that sound but gave it the sinister image we know and love. So horns up to both Cheer and Sabbath! LONG LIVE METAL!!

  • Tony Iommi Rules!

  • i love all those old heavy metal bands

  • jonas brothers are the next black sabbath... lol!

  • wow lol thats funny as sht

  • Comment removed

  • black sabbath fucking rocks! they are gods

but i also love zeppelin, deep purple , and much, much more

  • British people own haha lol

  • No one mentioned the supposed story of the words "heavy metal" being used in a review of a Hendrix show

  • i can tell theres alot of zeppelin fans here i can tell they like zeppelin better BLACK SABBATH!! my mom likes led zeppelin and she listens 2 fucking cold play!so they cant b that good

  • no zepp is a great band but i like sabbath more there my all time faverite, but yea coldplay sux

  • @DylanB003 That's a terrible argument. X person likes Zep and a shitty band, so Zep must be shitty. Well, my friend, I love Zep, but I also love Sabbath, Purple, Maiden, Slayer, Megadeth, Venom, and Priest. Does that make Zeppelin better?

  • what the fuck is he on about, Alice Cooper... what a load of bullshit. Everyone knows rock and metal came from the midlands (or Britain at least).

  • Ok so here it goes, Hard Rock started quite literally in 67', with bands like Cream and the who, but still had heavy blues roots, then Zeppelin gave it a big facelift, giving more priority to the riffs, and Bohnam became the prime example of "The Heavy Metal Drummer" and Page was a riff master, then came Sabbath, which reliying on Zeppelin's influences gave it a darker tone & sound, then came Judas Priest, removing all the bluesy influences and the rest is hiiiiissstoryyyyyy.

  • hey alice cooper i saw him in 06

  • i dont beleive led zepplin was a metal band

  • origin of metal doesent mean full blown metal. Dick

  • True, and I think black sabbath is a much better band.

  • lol led zepplin inspired black sabbath, black sabbath inspired metal

  • no the beatles inspired sabbath they were allready working on there first album when zepp came out

  • @darkeagle551 Led zeppelin is not inspiration of Black Sabbath...

  • Metal has evolved to become much heavier and has separated from the rest of music.

  • ya i think that 2

  • Ozzy said "we didn't call it heavy metal, some other idiot did"

i dont really like to classify music that muxh...Rock and Roll is Rock and Roll!

  • Little Kids Rock!!!

    Thank you for the support!!!

  • C'mon Zombie, Zepplin, Purple, MC 5, Steppenwolf were all around writing great riffs in the sixties before Sabbath came out in 1970. I agree that Sabbath is the first true heavy metal band, and they probably have the best riffs (maybe Purple can rival them); but every great riff was influenced by Sabbath? no way!

  • yes,almost all of them...

  • Ummmm...shut up please?

  • What do you have against Alice Cooper?

  • ooooooooozzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzyyyyyyyy

    is god

  • True! No matter what Sabbath invented metal and you really can't argue with that. Also no one can replace Ozzy! No matter what! (Stupid Dio)

  • Thanks You.. I cant listen to ANY song that is a Black Sabbath song and has Dio replacing Ozzy.. Dont make sense.

  • i agree but as an original artist dio is awesome not as good as the prince of darkness himself but bloody high up on the scale

  • Well of course, who else?!

  • Its wrong. Imagine you are in a band. You just made a hit song. You wrote the guitar, bass, singing, and drum parts and they just kick you out instantly. And then they start playing your song?

  • I try my best to find music today, very difficult. I always have to go back to the 's 's Rock for comfort. Alice still rocks at 60!

  • Black Sabbath is the best & first metal band and full-stop(.).

  • alice cooper black sabbath led zeppelin!

    ahh-true rock! i love them bands :)

  • fuck you!

  • yeah i know thats what i'm saying ozzy just sang tony and geezer did all of the work

  • ozzy sometimes tell everybody that he wrote songs and we know he is laying , but he is quite good making melodies.... he made a lot of melodies in his solo career and with black sabbath....bob daisley(ozzy s bass player and lyricist in ozzy s best albums) said that ozzy was very good making melodies of course writing lyrics he sucks.

  • well yeah i was pretty sure he made some of the melodies

  • It was actually Tony and Geezer made the lyrics and guitar for Paranoid and Ozzy just sang it and took responsibility for the song. Now he thinks that he can go around playing Paranoid outside of Sabbath. Don't believe me? He did Paranoid with Randy Rhoads, Jake E. Lee, and Zakk Wylde.

  • yeah i already knew all of that

  • thats cool buddy, keep your comment to yourself because I don't recall me asking you if you knew that.

  • Reminds me of high school-shit.

  • HELL YEAH!!!

  • all you metal fans should get the documentry

  • iommi's fingers look fine, did he have some sort of surgery?

  • it's the tips that are gone

  • black sabbath is the first metal band and tony iommi doesn't get enough credit ozzy gets all of it

  • Tony Iommi is the constant in Black Sabbath. Band wouldn't be the same without him.

  • i know he is black sabbath

  • Cool movie, but the Who's version of Summertime Blues is way better!

  • lol..rob zombie..personally i don't think it matters who invented it.. the fact is that metal is here and it is not going away..this show is just trying to make money out of all the fools who dont know shit about metal..if you ask me, those fags asking interviewing ppl should get 20 dollars, go to a show, and get in the pit..BEOTCHESSS!!!!

  • Making money out of fools... That's kind of the case with every movie, wouldn't you think?

  • In my opinon and only my opinon Hevy Metal orgins are mostly from the Psychedelic rock and other 60's band example Jimi Hendrix, Blue Cheer, Cream, Steppenwolf, MC5, Deep Purple and maybe The Stooges and Alice Copper without them Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin would not have done what they did

  • Alice gets screwed out of alot of credit.

  • i hate how alice cooper claims EVERYTHING to him.

  • lamb of god

  • no.

  • Alice Cooper rocks!

  • giddy Lee!!! wow I have missed him! when I was a teen in the 70's we just called rock. hahahahahaha

  • Black Sabbath are the fathers of Heavy Metal that dark heavy sound of Iommis guitar that is metal in its purest form.

    ALice Cooper kicks ass

  • I'm not contradicting myself, I said that I find trading INSULTS (i.e. Telling someone to 'fuck off') on YouTube to be pathetic NOT having a debate/argument, and it's only you who is trying to insult me (failing miserably at it I may add, ''PWNED" indeed). I'd happily have a discussion/argument/debate (whatever you want to call it) with you about the TOPIC (which I've tried to do) but you seem more content on telling me to 'fuck off' so that's a reflection on your personality not mine

  • I never said Alice was right about the statement he made in this video so I don't know why you're going on about that, I just took offence to the fact that you're claiming he didn't invent shit and that he was influential to nobody, which is ludicrous at face value.

As for the fuck off comment, I'm not going to trade insults on YouTube because frankly I find that incredibly pathetic.

  • Just because you don't like those artists doesn't make my comment any less valid. The majority of those in my list are INCREDIBLY well known metal bands that have cited Alice as a MAJOR influence, so you were simply wrong stating that little/non have done so. Just because the metal bands you personally like don't mention Alice doesn't mean others don't.

  • "Alice Cooper didn't invent shit!"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I've never heard such fucking shite in my life, maybe you should do some research yourself before making such idiotic claims. Lets have a quick look at some of the metal bands that have cited Alice as an influence shall we?:-

    KISS

    Rob Zombie

    Alice In Chains

    W.A.S.P.

    Metallica

    Twisted Sister

you may have heard of ''one or two" of them before.

  • Ozzy is the best singer. The others is not Sabbath!

Its a great band, but without Ozzy, its just a random good HM band, not Sabbath.

  • I've been close enough to touch Iommi's SG!... if it weren't for the damn glass case it was behind!

  • Cream and Blue Cheer are considered metal pioneers? I mean, they're amazing bands, so I'll just agree.

  • Black Sabbath is one of my favorite bands, but they were only good when Ozzy was still their singer. They started to suck after they fired him.

  • werd puissse.

  • thank you!

  • Hehe Great words by Iommi "Turns out i made a sort of music that peopled seemed to like" ha its like he has no idea what he just created.

  • As much as i love Uncle Alice, Metal did not start in 72, it was and always will be Black Sabbath!!
