I'm happy they actually got an Asian skater (and Michelle Kwan at that!) to skate Reflection, as it's the only Disney Classic with an Asian storyline and it'd only seem degrading if they got a blond haired person to do it in a Chinese-inspired costume... It fits Michelle the best.

@lockedinsideurhsbox lol that's not true. back in michelle's time they often did just as many jumps as they do nowadays, it's just this mulan performance is not a REAL competition performance but done just for fun for the crowd so it's a lot easier. it's also known as an 'exhibition" performance as other ppl have stated on this video.

I think she did that wonderfully, being a skater myself, I know that the sorts of things she was doing, the axels and lutz and that backwards spiral, are extremely difficult, and she did them without any faults. Also praise for Lea Salonga, beautiful song.

kwan is 18 here same age as Mao and Yuna. I think Mao is a very elegant skater; classical elegance. She is really lovely to watch. But she needs to show more passion and connection to the music. Yuna does have very good connection to the music and the passion for it. But, i don't really like her overall positions.

Kwan's positions were all great and she had a very good connection to the music. She had elegance too--not a classical elegance like Mao, but still very good. Kwan, overall, better.

The original figure skating routine before the 2006 olympics didn't force skaters to perform a number techniques on ice, a lot of skaters back then weren't as stressed as today's skaters. Michele wasn't popular by strenght nor her jumps but by her drive and gracefulness on ice. no skater was as graceful as her. Skaters today excel in strenght but lack in grace. The only skaters left from the original scoring systems who are still competing are suguri and miki ando.

Yes .. but in my opinion Michelle is a legend of figure skating .. however i think that Juna and Mao are very technical skaters but in my opinion they haven't the grace , the speed and the charm of Carolina Kostner .

i disagree. Mao, to me is graceful. Just as Kwan is graceful in a different way. Mao is more spirited and has sheer elegance of her own. She has a way of presenting herself to her fans in a straightforward way. Kwan has a very lyrical grace in a more technical term.

@annabella1217 @annabella1217 you have no idea what you're talking about. this is an exhibition performance, which means it's just to entertain the audience - so of course it's "simple/easy", exhibition performances are the same today, including ones by mao and yuna. the programs michelle did for REAL competitions were much harder and she often did 7 triple programs which is way more than many of today's champion ladies. michelle's amazing change of edge spiral is as hard as any triple combo
