@melbyRick Tesla coils are resonance transformers... they higher voltage (consequecially lowering current)... that dosn't remotely relate to generating power.
sieben jahre alte kinder sollten nich mit hochspannung spielen. nachher packen sie noch in die steckdose weil sie denken das da bestimmt nichts passieren kann. nicht nachmachen gefährlich! dangerous!!!!!!!!!!!!!
in probably sure that he didn't build it. BUT, for a 7 year old boy to be using this kind of circuits, knows what capacitors and high voltage coils do shows that he is heading in the right direction to create his own experiments. Every scientist needs to start from somewhere :) keep it up
This is cool. But it isnt actually a tesla coil. Just a normal iron core transformer (ignition coil). But its still pretty coil this kid made it and knows how it works!
@Jason1518120 Are you the guy that goes around telling kids that Santa isn't real too? Of course he had help but he came up with the idea and help with anything he safely could. He also learned a lot from it and isn't that the point?
@kyroguy dont get me wrong he did learn something from this but he should be able to do it by himself the second time if he truly learned.. i know i tough my self about high voltage and electronics im 16 and im modifying complex electronics or making them now. doing something like this would have helped me last year but i skeped stuff like this and play with higher voltiges :) also thats not a tesla coil
where is the tesla coil

Where do you get the things to build tesla coils?
greatseeker99 1 week ago
I guess I need to keep studying... I always thought the whole point of a Tesla Coil was to GENERATE power... not to run on batteries...

Good job, boy, thanks to dad for help but it's o.k. for good will. Go on and beware of current ! ;-)

lol @ 1:25. his dad helps him. I'm sorry I just don't believe he built this, if he did he had serious help.

Just a little more work you could get the tuning and do some wireless power transmission. Do it for next years science fair! Good work.

Well he IS 7, give him a break. :3

its pretty cool that he made this but i have no idea what his parents were thinking since i made my first high voltage projects at age 24.

Haha that's soo cool, its amazing he knows how it works I love young educated children in our society!

DON'T HATE on this kid, i was 9 years old when i built my first Coil Gun without help.

@24sensay Please never try this with a larger coil, the skin effect won't always protect you.

its really intersting how you can use a switch and a high speed motor so achive the same occilating effect of the spark gap in a real tesla coil :)

Omg the volts are over 9000!

TOTALY NOT 50 KV
MABY 20
1 cm = about 20 kv
bob123surfer 11 months ago
@bob123surfer Typically, it's 1kV per 1.1mm of distance in air. The voltage required to jump a 1cm gap would most likely be around 9-10kV.
nicwilson89 5 months ago
cool! how did u build it?
rowen211 11 months ago
Don't try it at home! Try it at a friend's home!
