  • I think the only thing that comes even close to the awesomeness of metal slug (graphic wise) is rayman origins

it's just as beautiful as MS

  • MY very first neo-geo game was Metal slug... i was so stunning by the graphics.

    Great game BTW :)

  • Best game on neogeo HAS to be (in my opinion) either Metal slug 4, KOF 98, or Pulstar!

  • I loved so much the Neo Geo games when I was kid and teenager, in particular the Samurai Shodown, World Heroes, Fatal Fury and King of Fighters saga, even I had the SNES conversions Fatal Fury 2 and World Heroes 2. It´s a shame SNK went to bankruptcy because most of their games were so cool, maybe they screwed up with the infamous Neo Geo Hyper System which it was just crap.

  • i never got to see a neo geo in my city lol... but i remember snk arcade cabinets great memory's.. and of course getting art of fighting on the snes not like neo geo's or the arcades but it was still great to get. and the reason world hero's was so great which was not deemed a street fighter clone off bat like other fighting games.. was some designers who made street fighter 2 i guess over some disagreement or event left and joined snk the other big name at the time and made world hero's :)

  • Heck yeah! Samurai Shodown FTW.

  • hell yeah metal slug!

  • neo geo was a great great system as a kid. unfortunately, in my personal opinion, i'd rather play classic sega genesis games than neo geo because the neo geo feel like they aged and old school less sophisticated arcade games.

  • KoF!!

  • i got metal slug anthogy for the wii and it is awsom

  • So true about Metal Slug... the sprites are pretty damn amazing! It's just a look we don't see anymore, but that also helps make these games special

  • The first Neo Geo game I ever played was Metal Slug 3. On my home from school when I was in Middle School, I would stop by this donut shop with a friend of mine. Next door to this donut shop was a laundromat. We walked in there one day out of boredom and noticed 2 arcade cabinets. One was Marvel vs. Capcom and the other was Metal Slug 3. Me and my friend Carlo would save up our quarters and go to that laundromat everyday after school and play both of those games. Great memories.

  • Loved Sengoku!

  • was Neogeo a 16 or a 64 bit console?

  • @rturd1 It was 24 bit. It had a 16 bit and 8 bit processor.

  • @rturd1 Haha it's 16 bit, don't let anyone tell you it's 24 bit cus it has an 8 bit co processor, because the Sega Genesis did too.

  • I gave thumbs up for METAL SLUG! xD

  • I never got to SEE a NeoGeo, let alone play one when they were out. After watching this 2-part video, I really do want to find one. I've played some of those games like Fatal Fury and Samurai Shodown on other consoles, but I'd like to see where they originally came from.

  • Metal Slug was beyond amazing for me. Even down to the reflection in the water as you walk by, they put so much attention and detail into it.

  • My memories started with Art of Fighting 2. Neogeo had some great games.

  • World Heroes 2: "I thought it was a lot of cool." :D

  • Fatal Fury,King of Fighters,Metal Slug & Samurai Showdown all Rock the World.

    Capcom & SNK are awesome!!!

  • my earliest memories with the neogeo are passing by the closest laundry mat to my house, i saw the arcade cabinet through the glass wall, so i went in, asked my dad for some quarters and started playing sonic wings, i spent $3, then my dad pulled me away, the other games were puzzle bobble, super sidekicks and world heroes. right now i own both the neogeo aes and cdz, expensive, but to relive my childhood, priceless.

  • My Neo-Geo memories are not really with the arcade but with the handheld Neo-Geo Pocket Color. Mainly when I saw saw it in a glass cabinet at my local store and I just had to have it. My first awesome game was King of Fighters R2. I couldn't agree with you more that the Neo-Geo still holds up.

  • My memories about the neo-geo consist of lots of arcade playing when i was little while vacationing in mexico and not knowing what a neo-geo was till about 3 years ago. Now i gotta say i really wanna own a home console since all the arcades in mexico have been replaced with xbox360 arcades where you can choose from xbox 360 games insert your money and you get a certain amount of time to play depending on the machine

  • So many awesome fighting games on the Neo Geo - KOF series Fatal Fury series, Real Bout, Garou (that one is just a work of art), Waku Waku 7, Sam Sho... loved 'em all. However, I always thought of World Heroes as a blatant SF2 rip-off. WH2 was such a massive improvement.

Also, Puzzled. Probably the only other Tetris clone that I could not stop playing.

  • i never played a neo geo but i sure as hell want one!!! side shooter collector right here

  • Metal Slug Anthology for Wii. Get it. Seven Metal Slug games on one disc.

  • @TheReal0ne I have it... definetly an awesome collection and you can get it for fairly cheap

  • The local pizzeria where I grew up had a Neo Geo game called Crossed Swords, I must have spent at least 50 dollars (10 weeks of allowance) worth of quarters on that game...

  • I also never had the ability to play old arcade games because I was too young at the time and my mom would never let me go into any of the arcade venues.

And when the console was avaliable, I never had the money to get my own console at the time until the late 90s when I was 13 and got the N64. That was in 1998 and by that time the Neo Geo was not avaliable in my country at all.

So having volume 1 of Neo Geo Classics is perhaps the best thing for me since I missed out on all of these games

  • I only have got the PSP version because I don't have the PS2 and my PS3 I got after they took out the backwards compadability.

But even though I only have the PSP version, I am thankful to be able to have a mini Neo Geo on my PSP with this game as well as the Samurai Showdown Anthology for the PSP.

Loved most of these games, although I have not played all of them.

I would love SNK Playmore to make volume 2 but I don't think it is ever going to happen sadly.

  • Yeah! Neo Geo games really do hold up very well. I remember playing Top Hunters on MAME years ago, and I was blown away that I've never seen it before. Metal Slug 3 is the finest moment in hand drawn retro games!!

  • i remember playing those neo geo games in arcade. my favourite neo geo games is gotta be fatal fury special and king of fighters games and ninja combat. good times.

  • Cyber-Lip was another cool early Neo Geo game that had a surprise ending that I loved.

  • I never played Neo Geo. I was playing Genesis till the PS1 was a couple years old. XD. Ever played Eternal Champions?

  • i'll have to look out for those PS2 SNK classics games. I've only really played a few neo geo/SNK ports; got the metal slug collection for Wii and I found KoF '95 for PS1 at salvation army (for only $2!)

  • Sam. Showdown is EPIC! SOooooo much fun on the arcade!!!

  • Great video series, Johnny. I look forward to seeing some more videos like this of your other favourite consoles and games.

I can't wait to get my hands on a Neo Geo AES but I've never managed to find one at a price I can easily afford. For me the Fatal Fury games will always be something that is synonymous with the Neo Geo arcade. The system didn't have that many games released for it but a really high percentage of them are top quality and still hold up against modern games.

  • Love your enthusiam and obvious love for these games!

  • Man, I could actually hear the announcer say "Heavy Machine Gun" in my head during that Metal Slug clip. Lots of great games on the Neo Geo, I really wish I could have owned one, but alas at least we have the compilations. I have to say that Samurai Shodown and King of Fighters are still two of my favorite fighting game franchise, both have great characters, good sound, and are just a lot of fun to play. Sadly, I don't have too many people to play them with, but I still love them regardless.

  • Metal Slug. is so FTW.

  • I also didnt get a neo geo till later on down the road. The cheapest way 2 invest in the carts is geting mvs carts because the home carts are very expensive :))

  • Metal Slug - Anybody can pick up and play & get immediate enjoyment. So very true!

  • Great retrospective, man

  • Top Hunter rules

  • samurai showdown was the coolest fighting game

  • Play Real Bout Fatal Fury Special and Last Blade!!! Not saying you have to play them... but dammit u should!!! :o) These games are on the same level as Street Fighter 2 and Street Fighter 3: Third Strike... no joke!!! My first Neo Geo CD game ever, was Real Bout Fatal Fury Special. Quote (my friend John G.) "This game is fucking right, man!!!!"

  • \m/ metal slug rocks

  • Never owned NeoGeo (or seen one), but I've played lots of NeoGeo games on PS2 thorugh those collections. I still remember the first NeoGeo I played: The Infamous SVC Chaos. It was lot of fun for me; those pre-battle dialogues, good gameplay, music, roster of characters. That was the crossover fighter for me, despite it's shortcomings. It still holds special place in my heart. And this happened on 2010 :)

  • Honestly I never cared for the Neo Geo cabs back in the day. I agree the games look beautiful and have held up well over the years, but for some reason they always seemed too cartoony for my taste. I still went and grabbed the compilation out of respect for you and Gamester mostly, because you hold the platform in such high regard.

  • oh and Samurai Showdown 2 is still one of my faviorte fighting games of all time. The Neo Geo arcade cabinets were the only ones that let people plug in headphones. I used to bring my headphones when I played SS because the game's sound was so stylish. I liked how the weapons sounded when they clanged against each other, and the referee guy would say IPPON when someone lost. Awesome. When SS2 came out on XBLA, I shit my pants. 2 was the best one! :D

  • When i was about 12, World Heroes came out at my local arcade. There was a really cute, teenage girl about 16 who dominated everyone. She always played as that Joan of Arc chick. The rumor was, if you beat her, she'd give you her phone number. I practiced playing that game for a long time, and one day, I challenged her. It was a tough fight, but I beat her. She offered to give me her phone number. I was younger and intimidated by her, and I chickened out. I wonder what happened to her.

  • I understand that this is a "memories" vid but it would seem unfair to the system to at least not mention the console's truly great games - The Last Blade series, the sublime Real Bout Fatal Fury sub-series, King of Fighters '98 & 2002 as well as Garou: Mark of the Wolves.

Still, I enjoyed both videos all the same - well done! Now go and buy KoF '94! Its incredible!

  • keep it up man :) love all your videos

  • 10:04 you said "i love doin that i thought it was a lotta cool." lol wtf METAL SLUG WAS THE SHHIIIITTT!!!!

  • World Heroes I'll never forget it as it always seemed very similar to SF. And I'm so glad you mentioned KOF with the upcoming KOF13 that really made my day :)

  • I think mine was with Samurai Showdown. It was the first fighting game I've ever played (and before MK1 at that) where you could KILL your opponent. If you struck them with your weapon upon winning a match, either blood would gush out of them before they collapsed or they were even cut in two. The victory screen would even show them wrapped up and being carried off in a stretcher..

  • @NightSprinter (Continued from before.) Also, when I played the first King of Fighters, it had concepts both unique to the series and were introduced LONG before Super SF2 Turbo came out. The former being you had to manually charge up a gauge for special moves (which decreased with use, limiting its power and range). It also had bonus games that let you increase your special gauge, overall strength, and even learn a super move. This was LONG before Street Fighter got supers.

  • I'm going to buy this game for my Psp. I saw it on e-bay and I want it....

  • awesome part 2, my first memory of playing on a neo geo in the arcade was puzzle bubble and that looked amazing in the arcade. magican loard is wicket and one of the first games i got for my neo geo aes, and kof94 has down the best game in the kof series and one of my all time fave fighing games.

  • I never had a Neo Geo but I do own Metal Slug Anthology on the Wii (Arcade perfect ports of Metal Slug 1-6 plus X). The first three Metal Slugs are classics, 2 being my favourite in the series as well as one of my favourite games of all time, 4-6 were not bad but certainly not as good as the first three. I even heard somewhere that 5 was unfinished and was rushed to meet deadlines.

  • i love metal slug

  • Great series on the Neo Geo! Keep it up, Johnny!

  • Never liked the Metal Slug series. I always thought the graphics were amazing, but I hated the gameplay. Which is odd because I loved Contra..

  • Was the Neo-Geo released in the UK?

  • I love your videos. I think I just missed the time of the Neo Geo. My first gaming memories included the Super NES. Would you consider doing a Super NES memories episode????? Mario Kart, Super Mario, Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong. Some of the best games ever made.

  • Actually, I have no memories at all -- aside from seeing those SNK ads in my early 20s, wondering what the heck those devilish expensive games would look and play like.

But neither had I the funds nor the boldness back then to buy and try them.

Now I'm over 40 and finally building up a Neo Geo library.

    And what can I say?

Yay, it was totally worth the two decades of waiting!!!

  • Love it! My fond memories of NEO GEO in the arcades early on are of The Super Spy and Ninja Combat. Both of these games have not aged well but I remember The Super Spy being the first game I tried and being so happy to see a first person game like that finally. I was so impressed even though it was kind of boring in long plays. I may be alone on this but I love Ninja Combat, its final fight meets contra. I play these games today and I still get the sense I'm playing fancy arcade hardware.

  • Awesome video Johnny!! The Neo Geo game line up was so different then any other system . It had its hit and misses but a lot of their games left a huge impact at home and in the Arcades. It was the longest running Arcade hardware for a reason (14years). Hell, I love it so much I own two dedicated machine!

  • Any genuine Neo Geo fan should play the authentic versions on the AES, some PS2 compilation will never suffice in comparison..

  • I still wonder why they didn't release Volume 2 !!

  • The first Neo Geo game I ever saw and played was Metal Slug 2, sometime in the late 90's. I saw the gameplay demo, and I was instantly hooked. Of course, the game kicked my ass on the first stage, and unfortunately, due to the dying out of arcades, didn't get to play a Metal Slug game again until the first one came out on the Wii's Virtual Console.

  • The first Neo Geo game I ever played was King of the Monsters 2, and I was blown away by its sheer awesomeness. My favorite, though, is Magician Lord. I used to play that in an MVS cabinet at the 24-hour laundromat where I used to wash my clothes at 3:00 AM. In fact, I used to drive 5 miles out of my way to go to that particular laundromat so I could play Magician Lord!

  • Gee man. These video's inspired me to hunt down a Neo Geo cabinet with a shitload of games. I cant wait to try out all these different games, i am really looking forward to it^^

As a 1994 kid i never been to the arcade because where i live... well yeah. go figure. But i played the freaking SHIT out of Samurai Shodown. Its safe to say its one of my favorite fighting games ever. Even though it was hard as hell, i always came back after getting my ass kicked.

  • good times....

  • I have always wanted to give Samurai Shodown RPG a try. I'm curious to know if it is any good.

  • Great 2-part vid!!

  • My earliest memory of playing the Neo Geo was when I was a little kid playing Puzzle Bobble, Samurai Shodown (Don't remember if it was the 1st or 2nd), and Baseball Stars 2020 at a Pizza Hut. I remember I was doing really good with Baseball Stars. I always wanted a Neo Geo after I found out there was a home version. Now I bought the games on the PS3 and a replica Neo Geo and Neo Geo CD controller for PS3 so it's kinda like owning a Neo Geo.

  • Never tried the NEO GEO but I have played the shit out of Metal Slug

  • my only childhood memory of neo geo was only hearing about it and it's price and wanting it so bad. No one sold it or owned one where I grew up, so I wasn't able to get one and own it until i was in my 20's and bought on ebay.

  • first memoryof SNK... being mesmorized by Metal Slug & being skeptical of KOF bc I was big on SF... but I was impressed. Dang Terry Bogard lol

  • Do you think volume 0 or 2 is ever gonna come out? Or do you think itz just gonna be the PSN whats?

  • samurai shodown 4, kof 98, pulstar, viewpoint, metal slug 3, and aero fighters 3 is TOO awesome!!!

  • Loved the video mate. Nice to hear what it means to you as a console.

The first time I played on one was last summer!! Ive seen them as kids but no one I knew could ever afford one as a kid. It really does feel like an arcade console in the home! Cheers ;o)

  • I play Super Sidekicks all the time its so awesome

  • since io live in the uk, most arcades are crap but we went to segaworld in london and it had loads of arcade machines, we played some tekken 5 and stuff but then we saw kof94 or 95 cant remember and it was amazing, i gave my brother a fight and he raped that stick! he played for like 7 stages and by the end of it, his hand had seized up and he couldnt move it so i guess i had the last laugh but it was a great time, im goin there again next week so im gonna make a video response when i get back!

  • @emojo1990 Is SEGA World still in Leicester Square? I thought it closed years ago. Does anyone know? The last time I was in there is was not really an Arcade to speak of sadly :(

  • @MintythecatIsABeast well... no. they moved it to the troccodero in piccadilly circus and it was sold but it still has most of the machines and a few modern ones.

  • no, whenever i hear neo geo, i always think kof94 or snk vs capcom

  • Asking your viewers for a thumbs up is lame. Seriously every time a video asks me to thumbs up for something, no matter how good the video, I will automatically not thumbs the video up.If people like your videos (which all your fans do), then we will thumbs you up every time, you don't need to ask for a thumbs up man.

  • I loved Spin Master on arcade. This game still looks awesome.

  • GREAT series. I love your vids, and they are by FAR some of the best out there.

  • Samurai shodown 1 was great but 2(in my opinion)is one of the best fighting games of all time.

  • @mathiasmorqubus i agree the second game is great one of my all time faves.

  • top hunter is an awesome game!

  • when i think of neo geo KOF comes to mind!

  • I remember playing a lot of the games(not all) that you have mentioned. But here's another game I was blown away by, Ninja Commando. It's an overhead action game where you select three different Ninja's and and they have different weapons and screen clearing bombs. That game was fun!

  • hey hcg have you tried dark souls?

  • Funny, several of the games you mention in this episode are available on Xbox live arcade. Samurai Shodown 1-3, metal slug series, the king of fighters and more. Also the Wii virtual console has loads of Neogeo games. Glad someone keeps the legacy going on modern consoles.

  • I beside mentioned games love Spin Master and Pulstar :)

  • well neo geo is an awesome machine but it´s freaking expensive too =D

  • I got to know about the neo geo a litte late, I saw a wonderful video on retroware called Neo Geo retrospective. I fell in love with the Graphics and I never grow up in the 90's like most people here did, so I got the Neo Geo pocket first and loved the games. And then I got the Neo Geo CD and I still play it, it's awesome, next up may be a Neo Geo AES ^_^

  • Fantastic system! Some of my favourite games are Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Kizuna Encounters, Last Blade, KoF 96 and of course the Metal Slug games. Excellent video btw! I highly enjoyed watching this Neo Geo Memories series!

  • Metal Slug X. My introduction to the Neo Geo. God damn that was/is a fun game. Got to go down to my cab and play me some of that :D

  • another thing that is pretty near despite me not being much into sports games i loved the fact that thy seemed so approachable on the system.

also glad that i'm not the only person that thought that the music in some of these games was quite badass :D

  • dude i still remember playing Samurai Showdown at a grocery store when i was little everytime we went there lol

was fuckin amazing to me despite how bad i was at the game. good thing for handfuls of quarters lol

  • Some of my favorites were King of Fighters '99, Shock Troopers, though I never was that into the second one. I think it might be because I never played that one in the arcade. King of Monsters! I'm really not sure how you could leave out King of Monsters, but I remember popping quarters in the machine everytime my family went to Wal-Mart. Neo Drift Out was pretty fun. It was among the first rally games I'd played, and though I wasn't really into rally racing at the time, I love it now.

  • Neo Geo Part 2 did not dissapoint especially with King of Fighters and Samurai Showdown. Their Both My favorite SNK series games. Samurai Showdown 2 & 4 being my favorites and King Of Fighters 98/Ultimate Match being both my favorites. SNK playmore needs to bring these back again. I know there's a new KOF 13 and it looks grat that I just cant wait to get while samurai showdown they cant make new one thats good. Btw If you can Johnny do a king of fighters series review or samuari showdown!

  • Samurai shodown really raised the bar for me. I loved that game. Especially since i studied Kendo and still do practice to this day. Upon doing research finding out who they based characters off i was amazed.

Another game that touched me was Bakumatsu Roman The Last Blade.. I found that in an arcade in Chinatown here in Toronto.. Back then I was still learning Japanese so I could sort of read the name and I tried it and was blown away.. I couldn't find it again until WAYYYYYYYY later..

  • Hahaha you mentioned Sengoku I was going to do a review about it but now i can't now that you've mentioned it hahaha don't wanna be accused of copying or whatever hahaahaha.

  • To this day, the King of Fighters is my favorite fighting game series.

  • I have very little memories of the Neo Geo at the time. My first experience was seeing a red MVS cab in a local 7-11 and playing Samurai Showdown. It had 3 games in the cab but I can't remember what the other two where! My second experience was seeing AES games for sale and thinking OMG why are these a) so big and b) so expensive? But that was about it. I didn't spend enough time in Arcades back in the day. Well I did I guess but most of the smaller ones around here didn't have MVS cabs.

  • My memories of Neo Geo stems from 1990. Baseball Stars, Crossed Swords, Cyberlip, Eightman, Magician Lord, Mutation Nation, Nam 1975 and Ninja Combat were my favorite memories of the console. Later on in the 90s I discovered more titles that were awesome and from that point, I feel that the Neo Geo is such an under-rated console.

  • I'm looking for sailors.

  • Still wish I could get ahold of a Neo Geo. But even the Neo Geo CD is pricey...

  • @neojake999gamer You and me both, dude.

  • lets make a system but lets make it cost a mortage payment per game

  • most of my memories come from teh NES, SNES, PS1, the various gameboys, and the 64.

  • yea i never got a neo geo becuz whoever did the pricing on the system is a total moron could u believe some1 thought it would be a good idea for each game to cost 500 dollars

  • Awesome system with tons of great games.

  • Metal slug X >>>>>>>> 3. 3 is so damn long by the end of the game you're just wanting it to end.

  • both kof 98 and the last blade 2 where the best on the neo geo especially the backgrounds in each stages looked amazing

  • jhonny do you know if there's going to be a snk arcade classics vol.2???

  • the King of Fighters 94 music never gets old!

  • Man, you really make me want a Neo Geo!

  • ...When I first walked into a pool hall, the music from Fatal Fury one blasting the Raiden theme...I was like whoa!

Samurai Showdown Earthquake theme, KOF 94 with the "Jungle Bouncer" theme. Neo Geo rocked the house!

  • Awesome video man, love the Neo Geo. Have you ever considered getting one of those multicarts with a Super Converter? I know a lot of people are against it but its a way to let you play a lot of these amazing gems on the original hardware at least. Some of these games are super pricey =\.

  • Alriiiiiiiight!! Part two!! Those that probably don't like Metal Slug think it's hard to play for them. I pity the fools!!! xD Great game. Great videos. Great job, dude!!

  • Man, what I would do to own a Neo Geo. It's just so expensive though, so I resort to the collections that were very prominent on the PS2. Not they are bad or anything, but damn, I would love the controller or arcade joystick at least.

  • My special memory on the Neo Geo is spending all my money in an afternoon playing King of Fighters 97 xD

  • Samurai Showdown is so awesome

  • First time I played KOF was on the psp collection. Love that game! 99' though was my favorite of all though. Bought 12 when it came out on ps3 but sucked hard. Btw kof was one of the best psp collections to be released. Wish Smaurai Showdown collection lived up to the quality of kof collection.

  • The Neo-Geo was like the last hurrah for videogames in the arcade as far as classic genres go.

  • A local video rental store had the Neo-Geo for rent. I rented it and played such games as Cyberlip and Super Spy. Also had a spot for Nam 75 to.

  • The God Damn NEO GEO!!!

  • Sprites never get old. The games still look good as hell after almost 2 decades.

  • Unfortunately for me, many of the neo geo games we're either played at the arcade or the snes ports of certain games. The snes ports may have never lived up to their true potential but its the best I could do for the time. I will eventually own a neo-geo in the future, because in my eyes it is the true system for the anime game genre that I love the most. Still as alwats johnny excellent memories, and I look forward to many more.

  • I mostly played KoF 94, Samurai Shodown, and Word Heroes they are all excellent. But in all honesty I mostly played them because the newest Street Fighter was sometimes too crowded.

  • Would you recommend a game called Ghost pilots??

  • i dont have many memories with it considering im 14 but i still have one with fatal fury. it was fun but expensive so i just got that compilation so i wouldnt have to afford all those games. i played them and i agree that the neo geo is amazing and if it was cheaper back in the day it would have totaly been way more popular. those are my experiences like you asked

  • i beat every sinlge metal slug game ever!, it wasnt easy

  • nice metal slug is one of my favorite arcade games

  • KOF 94, you'll get it someday Johnny. It's that high color saturation and smooth animation, timeless. World Heroes was unique fun and accessible to everyone which is where I think its appeal lies. Magician Lord my first Neo Geo game, so many colors and so rich in sound too. Good stuff, happy nostalgia. :)

  • awesome video Johnny, i love the Neo Geo, BTW have you ever played Ninja Masters or Rage of the Dragons, 2 awesome fighters

  • I sucked buggery at Metal slug and it drove me to distraction but damn did I love it anyway. Great video man, gotta pick that compilation up now.

  • My only memory of the neo geo Is playing metal slug with my friend :(

  • I have World Heroes for SNES. It's a great fighting game.

  • iv never played Metal Slug can you get it on any other console?

  • @dickiedocker Its on all of them these days. DL it on Xbox live or PSN

  • @DavidCrimson Wow that was quick! thanks alot David :)

  • @dickiedocker No problem.

  • @dickiedocker There's plenty of remakes, most recent being the Metal Slug Collection on the Wii

  • shock troopers looks awesome!!!!!!!

  • I know I'm in the minority, but I don't care for the fighters on the Neo-Geo. That being said, I have some of my fondest memories of gaming on the AES. I bought it in December 1990 and enjoyed many games and still do today.

As a person who invested several hundreds of dollars into the system it was really frustrating to see nothing but SF2 clones flood the market. During one year I think there was 15 Vs. Fighters released, but there was still no decent Ikari Warriors style game on it!

  • I'll never forget walking into the arcade and my friend being like 'yo see this SNK thing...you see that...you play it no matter what'...that game was King of Fighters '97, one of my favorite fighters to this day. And you're absolutely right, these games held up beautifully, specifically metal slug (although Metal Slug X is my favorite). Man such a great system, I really wish I could own one, one day. even if I don't get any games, just the history itself is worth it.

  • Man shock troopers was amazing! When I could actually find an arcade machine, I would spends roughly 20 bucks per play with my brother. My total amount spent on shock troopers would be roughly $500 lol

  • no Spinmaster? ;(

  • Never owned a Neo Geo AES or MVS, though some guy on kijiji was trying to sell one for $1000 lol. Metal Slug is awesome , but I've only played the console ports of it. Shock Troopers was one game I've always been interested in since it looks like a top down Metal Slug, so I'll have to try it one day.

  • Metal Slug is Awesome along with The Last Blade and Samauri Showdown. But theere are some Rad 3D Rendered SHMUPS Liks Pulstar and Blazing Star there just incredible.

  • I sadly can't afford a Neo Geo AES, or MVS, but the Neo Geo is so awesome I made a point to get all the collection released so far for the Wii, and other then the strange controls the Metal Slug collection is my favorite.

  • blazing star
