Actually- most of Wes Craven's issues with the original film have to do with it being too effective. The reactions he got were from people who objected morally to what he had done. With that in mind, how can anyone say this remake improves upon the original if there was no cultural reaction to it afterward? Only aught-minded horror fans are going to talk about it. The actors and filmmakers will move on like nothing happened. This is not true for the crew of the original. They're STILL reacting.
