This is a great song. We should listen very often and remind ourselves the great trouble the dear german nation went through. Myself as a german, after the bail out money against our desire, more and more often listen to these songs. but there is also other version (it is actually sung) where "mein" is in place of "mir" and as a result "Wein" replaces "Bier".

The text of this song was written in 1828 and the melody is a folk one. Nazis took it as the Wehrmacht march song.
