I like the concept but just looks like an air bag neck brace to prevent hyper extension in cart wheel accidents. There are other permanent type braces like the Leatt that don't rely on some kind of activation to work. Overall, I like the idea of new ways to protect. I survived a high speed crash thanks to my back brace, but still broke 17 vertebrae..
I want to believe these things can be perfected. I'm in favor of their eventual success and usefulness.
I just have yet to see evidence of it.
The problem is, all too often, the nature of motorcycle wrecks render the "instant of injury" so brief and instantaneous, so chaotic and turbulent, these sorts of suits are pie in the sky. Either the wreck was so minor, the suit did little good or the wreck was so bad, it made no difference. The bit in the middle I don't think will happen much.
i cant possibly explain how LAME that is, but hey, id rather look like a fuckin idiot wearing a my little pony shirt on a harley than get road rash, its a good idea
hm..IMO..no good, or not good enough. This is merely a "disconnected" system, if you see how and what causes serious bike injuries (yes I ride, street and track days) things happen in a nano-second. Actually mxracer618 is right, voice activated would work better, prob is if you "oh shit" for no real reason, you ballon ur ass off too soon. Dainese suit wins this battle
why dont they develop some ejecting system on the bikes.. so that when you crash you get "ejected" by your seat 2-3 meters high (so you dont hit the actually car/bus/truck) and then activated the airjacket system ( and make something for the legs as well).
@mxracer618 when your movin at a very high speed and about to crash , before u can say "shit" you will be on the ground already DUH! For example : "Oh Sh..* flat on the floor *
Would you rather smack your head at 250mph and snap your neck or break an arm/leg? This is a fantastic idea. I'm sure this is just the beginning or a full body suit with this technology.
why worry about whiplash on a bike ? Its not like a car coming to a dead stop.. Bikers just slide alittle unless they hit a wall and either way there fucked lol
its supposed to release if you get off the bike, and the wire is pulled, so if you crash and fall off it opens, he on the other hand, got his leg trapped under the motor cycle so he COULDNT activate it by moving away
can some1 punch this whatevar kid in the face for beeing suck a fucking retard, buddy go fall off a bike in shorts a t-shirt and a salad bowl and tape it for us and we'll see how you turn out you stupid fuck!!!
Yeah, helmets look pretty stupid too, and the helmet bounce that you get from hitting pavement will break your neck so it's better to wear no helmet. Leathers make you look like a racer or HA wannabe, and when it's hot out you might get a heat stroke and crash. So it's safer to wear just nothing.
So many negative comments... I bet ya'll wear just shorts, a t-shirt, and sandals for riding. After all, in a crash, motorcycle gear can't protect you at xkph anyways, wear a salad bowl as a helmet while you're at it.
You are right. I will never ride with out my gloves on... Last time I went down @ 90 my gloves were compleatly flush. My knukle bones would of been flush too...
I'd forget to unclip it after each journey, get off the bike.. BANG... wtf?! Looks a bit small, if your gunna have one, have a big enough one to protect you.
This T-RAPS seems like a fairly crude system with the lanyard - it didn't deploy until well after the rider was down (in fact, it looked like he had to push himself away from the bike while sliding for a while). Riders who are interested in airbag tech for the street should also check the 'hit-air' system (which is used in TRAPS = Taichi Racing Air-bag Protection System). Personally, I think the most intelligent approach is Dainese's D.air system, which is *still* being refined.
okay so maybe a lowside isn't the best way of demonstrating it, but in a highside it would have deployed before he reached the ground, which is the point.
In this instance his head didn't even touch the ground, so the whole demo to me seems pointless.
now saying all that i dont like the idea of anything connecting me to the bike, no matter how weak the cord is.
nah dude your wrong its for aerodynamics n cooling and in motogp there are sensors stored there, the spine protector is underneath. your the dickhead.
Ill wait for the Dainese one. Watch the 2 videos back to back. This one is smaller and is activated by a lanyard. The Dainese seems to be impact or proximity operated and is much bigger, thus providing some protection to the collar bones and shoulders.
By riding on the road at all you're giving up certain safeties, motorcycles doubly so. You won't get a full body airbag ever, and they already have a normal leather vest that you can pop CO2 cartridges into with similar clip-to-the-bike technology.
Broken leg or Broken neck. NOT a hard choice for me.
