  • ya with all this smart talkin u lost me!

  • @lolsmileyface39 It's kind of like taking a drink from a fire hydrant - you get more on you than in you! If you take it a piece at a time it will make more sense. Good luck :)

  • Tom, I have to disagree with your advice. "Red" is a bad play for a number of reasons.

    1) Rack Management - good luck with that AAAE that you have left over on your next turn.

    2) So what if your opponent plays Tread or Dread across the TW? Your more pressing concern is the corner DL that you've left him - if he's got a B, F, H, M, P, W, or Y you're in for a much bigger world of hurt. If the opp takes the TW bait, you've got a decent shot at getting one of those to use on your next turn

  • I don't mean to be too critical, Tom, but too many new players spend too much time worrying about defense. They often up playing 1 or 2 tiles per turn, all for fear of "Setting the other guy up." New players should avoid plays that set the other guy up for a DW/DW combo, (or TW/DW in Wordfeud), but shouldn't worry about the DREAD thing. They should instead think,"If I set him up for that, what's my next move, given the tiles I have left?" If giving a player a TW can get you DL/DW, it's not bad.

  • @CROhOn3 First of all, thanks, I appreciate your input. Words has the strategy of chess plus the tactics and luck of poker. There are countless game styles. I’m a proponent of a game that combines both conservative and aggressive styles depending upon what part of the game we’re in. There are times when you need to open fire & times to circle the wagons. The opponent has a lot to do with my playing style, also. Like you, I believe it’s important to be conscious of hismost likely next move.

  • @CROhOn3 is only one word in one direction with a far smaller multiplier. Obviously, like politics and poker the opinions, strategies and direction of the game vary greatly from player to player. I do stand by my move on this one.

Anyway, thanks again for speaking up! Shoot me your user name to my inbox if you’d like to play

  • @CROhOn3 Regarding tile management, at this point there are still 35 vowels and 58 unknown consonants available (minus opponents 7). The ratio is 1.65 consonants to vowels so I’d consider it very unlikely to be backed into a corner on my next tile draw.

As for my decision to play this move conservatively my reasoning is the totality of damage created by the TL and TW combination even with a decent subsequent counter move. The opponent additionally has a bi-directional TL while the DL/DW counter
