Gears 2 sucks balls compared to Gears 1. All Gears 2 consists of is, the bitch button, chainsaws, lancers, broken shotgun AND sniper, and idiots who have never touched the first game and hate on it. Like you. Anyway in Gears 1 blindfires aren't random(that's gears 2), you need a bit of luck if you don't active though.
