The puttbull fought hard at the end but overall the akita came in to tonights fight. Was always one step ahead of the pitt. I score 10 9 for the akita. Great fight those are the ones fans pay to see. Lol jk both dogs are beautiful tho. My akita just got my pittbull pregnant.

Six months ago new neighbors moved in next door. They have two massive Red nose Pits. I mean diesel, and nasty. I know this is how they were raised. Well they got out. My 4 year old daughter was out front.Martini my Akita tore through the screen door to get at the pits. who were growling at my daughter. both pits had severe bites and lacerations all over there bodies one pit even ran. Dude... Akitas have been known to hunt and kill POLAR BEAR!!! I have read in a Dog magazine (forgot which one) that was talking about the breed and they said that 2 akitas can kill a thousand lbs bear! so im pretty sure most akitas can take on pittbulls. the reason akita arent widley known as fighting dogs is because often times if you hit an akita the akita will hit you back! they have a lot of dignity unlike most dogs. they will not take abuse at all!

I have an Akita/Husky mix. I have to say, I love the mix. It has the pulling/running strength, and endurance of a racing Husky, but the territorial attitude of an Akita. She howl-barks like a Wolf too. Seems to be a popular mix in Alaska/Canada. It's tight having a dog that has a little Wolf to it, and the attitude to back it up. As for Pits, some of the most chill dogs I have known are APBT. I hope to own one some day.

Here in Europe according to the FCI the Akita is now in 2 breeds, the original Akita (Husky looking dog from Japan) and the American Akita (dog which soldiers took after WO II from Japan to the USA and made it bigger by breeding Mastif and Sheppard in it).

First the Japanese Akita was called Akita Inu and the American version Great Japanese dog. Now since last year finally the Akita's have their final names namely Akita and American Akita.

Um, it was the Japanese who bred Mastiff and Ovcharkas into the Akitas hundreds of years ago, when they used them as fighting dogs. The Akitas were brought to the USA by Helen Keller, and while they have been bred to become a bit more "bulky", the colours are the same as what was normal in Japan until around WWII.

After that, the Japanese akita breeders decided to "purify" the breed and go "back" to what they think the breed looked like before being mixed with non-Japanese breeds.
