i just started watching you freestaters 2 days ago and havent been able to stop watching your videos. I am amazed at what you guys are doing up there. I live in Tampa Fl, and none if that happens here. I have looked at several websites about moving to NH. Do you guys know of any forums that I can go to for info? thnx!
Ok well I mean I've heard of some cop corruption scandles in big citys, but seeing a cop lie when it would matter does seem like a pretty big risk. They do get paid a lot of money. I don't know what extra money they would need. Who cares about the audio recording, it's easier to work without thinkign all your words are going to be picked apart. But the cop coudl have given you the times when a lot of people move around or leave. Way to shut down any outside sources.
@cmcphee The thing with NH is (and I can speak as someone who grew up there), its entire southeast region is a giant Boston suburb now. Its western part is turning into Vermont. And that's not even mentioning all the New Yorkers moving there. So the free staters are going to have to figure out a way to get rid of the "statists" who are now settled in NH.
Oh my god, this Ridley guy is a fucking genious hahahahaha. "Are you video or audio?" "Both" "You cant record audio" "Ok I'll step back then so I can't hear you"
Cop is just standing there looking dumb as all hell.
I really don't see why you should have to back away. I would have told him simply "Well, I've notified you that I'm recording so you can make the choice whether or not to speak within range of the microphone. If you choose to speak within range then you obviously DO consent to be recorded." Not to mention that the law addresses PRIVATE conversations. A cop acting officially is not having a private conversation, especially if he's in a public place.
If the new threats to freedom of speech continue, I can easily see calling for secession becoming a crime in the years to come.
As for the police officer. He seems nice, but he still lets you know he can physically detain another human-for just not talking to him. I am not an anarchist and think roads and police are an appropriate function for a state government.
I DO NOT HAVE TO RESPECT A PIECE OF SHIT, MOST POLICEMEN ARE A PIECE OF SHIT.. MY WIFE AND I WAS TAKEN FROM OUR MOTOR HOME IN JOLIET, ILLINOIS KNOCK US TO THE GROUND AND BEATEN BY 4 POLICEMEN ABOUT 15 OTHER PLOICEMEN STOOD AROUND AND DID NOT HELP US. AT ALL. BLEEDING ALL OVER WE ARE 66 & 67 Y.O.It's obvious that the police are the common enemy of the people POLICE ARE ARMED AND RETARDED THEY WILL HURT YOU ONLY THING ON MY RECORD IS A SPEEDING TICKET IN 1992
@BabyHominid After all, anything the police see is "on the record", and as Ridley has documented they do not hesitate to record anyone and everything themselves, without asking permission or giving notice AT ALL.
All while the (true) anarchists in Greece are organizing massive rallies and torching the criminal banks. Take note guys. Chalking isn't going to lead to much; direct action and massive organizing will.
Did you know that the guy who coined the term "anarchist" was the guy who inspired Karl Marx to become a socialist and abolish private property in the Manifesto? Did you know that up until Rothbard hijacked the word, anarchists were ALWAYS anti-capitalism and fought AGAINST the exploitative and authoritarian nature of the capitalist system?
So yes, those rioting in Greece are, in fact, traditional anarchists.
"archy" standard suffix, meaning "rule" or "rule by".
Thus, "gynarchy" is rule by women, "monarchy" is rule by one, "oligarchy" is rule by an elite, etc.
"Anarchy" means, simply, no rulers. Of course there have always been those who use words to mean whatever they want them to mean at the moment, like Marx.
Capitalism is just private property, the opposite of exploitation and authoritarianism.
exercising your rights is one thing, but pushing over common sense boundries (you say earlier that the girl with the chalk was going to go closer onto federal property to draw out a reaction) is not cool.
@theeastwatch BS! Federal Property is public property. walking on it should not be a crime. Chalk washes off. No real harm.
I invite everyone into the federal buildings that our US taxes have paid for. If they say you need a pass deny it and continue moving forward. Perhaps you will need a large group so its harder to stop the movement.
@downlowfunk If someone drew with chalk all over my house or all over my car I'd be pissed - I treat others as I'd like to be treated. Its one thing to do it, and a completely nother thing to do it and push, and push...
If you read my original comment, my point was these guys were doing what they were doing to purposely draw out a reaction from the cops, IMHO thats just as bad as a cop who oversteps his authority.
@theeastwatch Tresspassing on private property, is a bit different. As for your car Cars in my city are vandalized all the time and the police don't ever seem to catch anyone. I wish all I could find on my car is chalk. ive had tires popped, ive been keyed.
Nice does not = right, it is cops like him that only reinforce my transition.....I used to be a HUGE cop supporter, but he just proves they will ALWAYS lie to get their way
"The First Amendment protects the right to gather information about what public officials do on public property, and specifically, a right to record matters of public interest." (Smith v. City of Cummings, 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, and similar in many other Courts of Appeals)
If I were in New Hampshire or Massachusetts, and had nothing else pressing in my life, I would continue video and audio recording the police in public.
Ha!! Cool idea: "Oh, if I can't record you then I'll just move away from you." A cop has the right to detain you only as a Terry stop (suspicion of a crime or public danger) or as an arrest. Of course, the no-recording law is a bullshit law--cops are doing public business, there's no sensible reason that their actions in public should be "secret."
@700eyesonly007 I would also like to say I have never in any vlog seen Dave Ridley anything less than courteous to everyone around him so in my opinion Dave you were causing no disturbance disorderly or otherwise and you did not impede anyones ability to pass you on the walkway, the only thing I could see that he might be able to detain you for would be failure to comply with LE-if thats even a real crime.
@mylilibaby I can't stand when people adhere that because the cop was nice and did not shout out the attempted censoring that it was ethical. More like he was attempting to pervert the understanding of the law in a nice way, so that makes it alright. I think what we are seeing when people claim this is akin to Stockholm syndrome. Where persons endear themselves to their captors.

Other than the bit about audio recording, which was pretty silly, the cop seemed nice enough.
I mean, while perhaps unnecessary, he was acting as a peace officer — just making sure that traffic wasn’t impeded, and everyone stayed safe.
