@rpblcan its a nerf pocket vortex, they're a popular project among airsoft because its soft, and has a 2in diameter and is aerodiamtically stable due to the tail. tennis balls are annoying because its hard to find 2.5in pipe.

@MrRandomxxxx the valve is a 1 inch sprinkler valve. It's been modified with a blowgun. the sprinkler valve works like this: inside the valve there is a rubber plate. as air is pumped into the gas chamber a small hole allows air to get above the rubber plate. Since the pressure on both sides of the rubber plate are equal it remains closed (because there is a spring on the top the plate holding it down to make the pressure slightly higher on top). (continueing on next comment, out of space)

@MrRandomxxxx when the blowgun attached to the top of the valve is pressed it allows the air on top of the plate to escape quickly so the pressure below the plate pushes the plate up and allows to air to shoot out the barrel shooting the projectile. To learn how to modify the sprinkler valve search this in the search bar "modifying a sprinkler valve for pneumatic actuation" it is actually very easy to do and costs around 20 dollars (if you skip the ball valve which acts as a safety device.)

@legofan2142 well, what you cna do is put a bunch of bb's into a safeway bag and twist the bag until it is tight then tie it and stuff it in the gun. they explode on contact however, most airsoft fields do not allow this.

@explosiveskid it's pvc pipe for the barrel and chamber and the valve (if Im not mistaken its a over-under sprinkler valve (1 in, home depot has it) and the valve was modified to open using a blow gun handle, (by drilling a hole in the top and attaching the valve, it allows air in the over part to get out quickly and opens the valve very fast). the grand total for whole build is about ( if you have to buy everything including glue.) 50-60 dollars plus tax

its more akin to a grenade launcher. RPGs (rocket propelled grenade) accelerate (via rocket propulsion durr) after leaving the firing mechanism, while this.. device.. fires a projectile that decelerates after leaving the barrel as a grenade launcher does. just sayin..

I have the same system but a bigger air chamber. Mine has 80 psi. Also, darthdave02, take a shirt, roll it up, tape it and shove it down your barrel. It'll go around 50-60 feet. Insert the shirt then a tennis ball. Shirt goes 50, ball goes 150-200 feet. Use the shirt as a wad and you can launch virtually anything that will fit in the barrel. I've launched snow, baseballs, shirts, tennis ball, BBs and over the summer I am going to try water balloons!
