nice moves but couldn't sit thru the routine with all the chatter! Some instruction is fine but to talk the ENTIRE time is a bit much....esp when the moves repeat themselves.
@notforthemoney A lot of verbal cueing can be annoying to some, and absolutely crucial to others. It all depends on who you are teaching to. Many time, I teach this routine and barely have to say two words. With THIS particular group, they prefer to have constant verbal cueing. I tailor my class to the participants and their needs/wants.
well I would like you to tell me all the time cos my memory is terrible.. & yes I do forget to breathe! I'm really gonna try & do this.. thanx for posting! :) xx
I just got certified to teach Zumba. Every complaint about Zumba that I've heard is because there is no queing. People that are new to Zumba want the queing. When I went to my 1st Zumba class I did ok because I have 35 years of dance experience and 25 years of aerobics but for people that have never danced or done aerobics they want the queing. Good job!!!!!
@QueenFowley Exactly...depends on the class...some people feel more comfortable with the verbal cues because they have never danced before, but some people have more experience and are perfectly fine without the verbal cues ♥♥
@zumbafitnessKL That's just silly! You teach your way and I'll teach mine! I've been to both "styles" of zumba classes....one's with verbal cueing instructors and others that demonstrate physically without the verbal cueing and it is my preference as a student to be in the verbal cueing class. I've been teaching fitness classes for over 20 years (ugh...I'm old!) and I guess the verbal cueing is just something I've always done that I couldn't stop if I had to!
I like your routine, but i prefer a class where I am not being talked to the whole time like an aerobics classs. My zumba instructors hardly talk and its fun...just enjoy the music and dance!
@VVPGMUSIC It really depends on who you are teaching to. I am teaching to beginners and they need BOTH the verbal cueing along with the physical cueing. They have told me how much it helps them when I count the moves, or tell them what's coming next. When I teach to more advanced dancers, I don't cue nearly as much; however, I do still verbal cue for it's just something I've always done! I'm glad you've found an instructor that suites your style of preference for it's all about having fun!
@immazumbachica It's a lot easier to say than "bring one shoulder forward at a time"! I tend to give nicknames to dance moves. Some nicknames I use during class: dry off with a towel, wedgie, comb your hair, Chipendale dancer, wash your car.....just to name a few!
this is awesome! It is apparent that there are people in the class that need the cuing!
