No, she shouldn't be Diana at all. Like, no. Just no. She's a good singer, but you can tell she has no passion for the charecter like Alice, and she's just simply not as good as Alice. She isn't that great of an actress and I just can't picture her assuming that roll and devorting her time to it. She just couldn't stand up there and belt with a loving fiery passion like Alice can. Just, no.
@KaitlynnKutie555 She had just as much passion as Alice did, if not just a tad bit more... From what I could tell. I thought her performance was magnificent.
@KaitlynnKutie555 this isn't a really a fair comment. It's your opinion and I respect it. Julie is an amazing actress first of all. But to compare her to ALICE is crazy. At this point in the show, Alice had the whole rest of the show to build up to this song. This is a REALLY difficult song to sing in a cabaret setting coming from NOWHERE! You really can't compare ANYONE to be as "good" as Alice ..she has done the show for many years and won a Tony for it.
So funny that she always sounds like her (in a good way) but it's obvious she's listened to Ms. Ripley sing this several times (mostly in a few vowels).

Her ability to tell a story and make it vital and important to an audience are unparalleled by any performer I've ever seen. I think that N2N is an incredibly important piece of theatre because of how truly it deals with issues that so many people face, but rarely talk about, and are often misunderstood. I think that Julia could touch so many people with this piece and change them for the better,
If Alice were to ever leave N2N, Julia Murney is the only person I can think of who would do Diana and the message of the show complete justice. This is stunning....damn.
Diana's a young mom, though - pregnant at 21. Considering that, they're actually too old. They both have such amazing versatile, yet youthful voices, though...love.
If Diana got pregnant at 21 and Natalie is 16 in the show, that would make Diana 37. Julia is 41 and definitely NOT "too old" to play 37. And Alice is only 46 and again NOT "too old".
she definitely has the voice for diana, similar qualities to alice's voice. i mean, diana can't be played by somebody with a more 'lyrical' voice, it needs a bit of quirkyness to go with the character. but yeah, that's just my opinion. <3
Wow, I had never even thought of anyone but Alice doing this role until now, but now I realize that Julia would be FANTASTIC! I mean, she's fantastic in everything, but Diana seems so perfect for her, vocally and acting-wise.
She brings so much just to this one song..imagine what she could do with the entire piece...gah when Alice leaves she should def. be the next Diana. Just because she doesnt have the "rock n roll" edge that Alice does so brilliantly I think she can def. bring somin new to the role which will be crucial for after Alice's departure because Alice has really put a huge stamp on the character.
Perfection.

Beautiful. The slow version on the cast recording is so emotional, but Julia's quicker version really has the same impact. So amazing.

I've never heard this song or the show it's from. It sounds like it walked out of a musical adaptation of "A Doll's House."
As per usual, Julia = awesome.

If they ever bring n2n to London or somewhere with the OBC, Julia would be the perfect takeover.

No, they're not too old. Diana does get pregnant with Gabe relatively young, but the play takes place when he is 18, so that puts her at almost 40.
