@horselovergirl103 she gave slipped the reins when he jumped funny...if you don't know the horse is gonna do that you obviously don't loosen the reins enough so they wont get jabbed in the mouth over the jump or else they get too flat over the jump...
@xXxChristinexXxX He started out fine,He went to far and she fell back,Taking the reins with her.Causing him to lift his head and land wrong.I dont jump like this but i did train my own horse to so i know that maybe if you put your hads higher on his neck he can jump better
@horselovergirl103 no she stretched her elbows out when she felt him over-jump if she had her hands any further up her neck she would have to lean forward which could cause the horse to tip on the forehand and she could possibly fall off...i do cross country and you have to keep your body back over drop jumps because if the horse trips when they land you end up in the water. Cross country is not like showjumping you need a bit of self preservation.
You should teach him to drop in properly before you add a log/jump into to the mix. He could really get into some trouble jumping in and landing like that.
haha, he like.... "weee, jumping... WOAH WATER???!?!?!! YOU WANT ME TO GET WET??? ok but ur getting wet too!!!!" lol :) i bet my horse wouldnt do that... maybe next year :P
@BriSwagger I really dont think she had an option but to land in that way, either that or fall on her face in the water. Sometimes things dont go to plan. Give the girl a break
HAHAHA! naw! he thort it waz a big water ditch jump & thought he'd be rly clever & clear it...then realized halfway to the moon that he was meant to go THROUGH the water...rather than over it LOL XD. But snaps for the effort and excellent riding =)
LOL nice! You handled that very well. Last time my horse over jumped, he cleared the top of the standards and I slammed on his back... poor thing. I felt so bad. Hahaha cute pony(:
Well done! You sat to that so well. And for all those ignorant people telling you you can't ride and apparently 'made your horses mouth sore'. You slipped your reins so i don't understand that. Like to see them do better tbh. Welldone! x
erm! Hardly, she stayed on and went with her horse so how does she not now? She did well! I'd like to see you post a video of that sort of riding and sit to it.
whoooooooooa ive done thattt! its scary! cept my horsejumped way before the log and then caught her back foot and we went down 2 meters into the water, it really hurt, we lost that eventing class :( but yikes it hurt but good jobbb!!!
dude... ur like hella stupid... its a down bank into water.. u r ment 2 lean back and balance your horse... but then the horse jump like crazy huge.. wat wud u hav don.. leaned forward and fallen off into the water.. yes i think so.
yea, the first time i tried to go down a bank into water my horse did the same thing, but i didnt have as good balance...and SPLOOSH! in the alligator and horse poop infested waters. it was gross. of course we didnt know there was a gator till the end of camp.
oh OUCH that probly hurt for both of you in fact i know it hurt because my horse did that same thing yesturday exept she did it from a 5ft fall to the water she over jumped by like 3ft and then there was like 8ft between us and the water and it hurt really bad it broke 3 of my ribs =L
Haha :)) i'm not on youtube to point out bad riding(not saying you're bad) but,in 2-point,try to bend at your hips, you have more of a straight up kinda thing going there, give the horse her head by putting your arms up on her neck and they will pretty much naturally make your hips bend.Hope I helped you :))
awhh well done for sitting tight :) my horse does exactly the same! i took him to jump into the water about 20 times after eachh other and he kept doing it everytime lol
I dont see why yous all keep putting her down! i think its amaziing what shes dont with theese horses. :S so what she might not be the best rider but who is? nobodys perfect FFS!! get a grip and leave her alone if you cant say something nice dont say fukin anythin atal okay?
maybe you need a more experienced trainer. I am training a horse to jump, but I NEVER jump without my trainer there to help me if somehthing goes wrong. Plus I think you rushed him to jump a little bit. I don't think he is ready for big water jumps. I would KILL to have my own horse! You're gonna really hurt him one day and maybe you'll finally realize that you need to learn a thing or two about training horses!
and you need to get your head from imbetween you buttocks, and realise that noone cares for you oppinion unless your going to be constructive. and the stuff youve put in caps dosent count.
I am sorry if I upset you. I just get really upset when I see this cause my friends horse died like this and she was put in the hospital for like month. I dont think she was ever the same after he died :( I would just hate to see it happen to this girl.
who are you to say that.... maybe she has trained other horses- just cause she didnt have a trainer there doesnt mean she cant train her horse... i trained my own horse to jump- my trainer said that he would only ever jump 2'6 tops- i have him all the way up to 3'9 easily and he clears that by tons- that was not that long ago and i dont jump alot without my trainer there but i can train my own horse- so are you saying i cant train my own horse either?
EXCUSE ME ? i wasnt saying that about the girl in the video i was saying that in response to another comment ! i read a comment which said ' i trained my horse to jump but i never jump without my trainer there ' i was talking in response to that, not to the girl in the video ! so please refrain from slating me till you know the full story !
u r stupid, the horse can probably jump into water very well now, i dont even hav a trainer, does that stop me from jumping into water? NO! there r millions of people without trainers in the world, do they not go to shows or pony club? no they do! OMG! just cuz of one mistake u take it out on the rider for not waiting for her trainer to com, the horse would of done the same thing with the triainer there, lol its not going to behave just cuz her trainer is there, gosh every horse mucks up sometimes
I trained my leas horse Lily up to 3'3" w/o my trainer. and I have a slide show of one of my lesson with all the jump heights. yea, I don't jump x-c a lot, but you don't need a trainer there to jump.
Your very lucky that your parents can buy these expensive, amazing horses for you, but you need a trainer for them, or a better one if you have one. Your parents can't buy your way into the olympics...
haaaaaaa, i bought this horse myself , totally off my own back, If you watch our 10 week vid, or the crazy hoss vid you will see just how far we have come
That is quite a statement! And if, perhaps, you could pull our head out of the sand for a moment, this horse i CLEARLY not meant for the Olympics! Not every equestrian is a hot-shot country-club girl whose daddy bought her a pony. You are very small minded, my friend.
@melikesapplejuic Coz i bet you've never had an awkward jump?!?!?!?!
I hate it when people come on other people's videos and say stuff like this. I'm sorry but your comment is very unfair. this is one 35 second long video, a tiny tiny snippet of their life together and you judge them like that?!?!?! at least she has the guts to post their mistakes.
how said she wants to go to the Olympics, and there is nothing wrong with training your own horse, i think she done great, its not her fault her horse over jumped, so get over yourself and worry about your own horses.
ok I have now watched a lot of your videos and I find in too coincidental that all the horses you ride are having BIG problems. Something that I noticed is that you DO NOT give your hands over the jumps and its ruining the horses and causing them to rush to the jumps. Also you have not practiced these horses with simple ground poles, so they are getting their timing all messed up, hence the early take off. you NEED to go back to basics with ALL your horses. And progress SLOWLLY (continued)
While I do agree with most of the comments to some degree, I do think it was handled rather well. If a horse overjumps anything, from water to skinnies, on cross country, it's always best to remain in the defensive back-seat position. Just think, if she were ahead of the horse, his knees would have buckled on landing, and he might have plowed head first into the water. Since she slipped her reins, gave him his head, and allowed him to figure it out without rider inhibition, I think (continued)
that the horse was given a good ride considering the circumstances. With that said, however, this horse should obviously not be jumping a legitimate bank into water. Event horses, if taught to leap into water, will not be able to progress past the training level. This horse should have been taken over SEVERAL dry baks first, then through the water, trotted out over a smaller bank, and then trotted or walked off a smaller bank. (continued)
If you canter a green horse off a down into water, they will feel inclined to leap. Speed is not the best tool when teaching a young horse to drop off a bank... even lunging him first over it would have been a good training tactic.
Lainerzzz this isnt to start an argument or anything but if you watch her other Xc vid you will see that he handles banks/ steps really well, and this was just because he hadnt jumped into water off that height before. but i can understand why you would think that and, to a certian extent, you are right. xx
Love it. xD Maybe he thought he could clear the whole water? Lol. I love that he didn't refuse though and choose to jump the scary water than refuse, he must have trust in you but just didn't quiet know where to put his feet.
