  • AZ for tech positions are slim to none, you have every mechanic school there from wyotech UTI and MMI. best bet is to move to another state, Either city or country. I worked on a bunch of things. Just by far Im not leaving bmw! to much money to let go!!

  • I love bikes and live in az. I've heard people cant get jobs in az after graduation

  • I figure natural selection will choose them to be in the % of students who die in a crash....

  • haha wow...figures alot of shit talking, and your the dumbass for posting your opinon of such stupidty. its not in the suzuki elective, that was clinic 5. 20$ says you dont know a damn thing about a bike and just couldnt figure out what to do after highschool as we have all seen in this school. and 1nfamous87, its not a career as advertised, its a hobby and getting paid for it.

  • That's nuts dudes..... But can't wait to start my new career at mmi

  • -_-....Youre a dumbass and so are your friends for helping you...and as for Suzuki I am so sorry for the morons who get a hold of your bikes ><.

  • @TheDrowWarrior1 Word

  • lol. my bros goin there in a month

  • do they drug test there?? seriouse question. haha

  • @seanttr19 not sure did u ever figure it out? i start next month soo... just wondering

  • How much knowledge should you know before going to the school? I'm just now starting to really get interested in motorcycle mechanics, so I'm basically a newbie to it all.

  • @GordoBrown1022 I've been around motorcycles my whole life but I never really knew how they functioned and the components that make them work. But you start in a theory class then go through basic mechanic courses working all the brands.. then you make it into your elective class( be it Honda, Harley, Yamaha, BMW) and spend at least 3 months in there. After all these classes and education you have to be an idiot if you dont further your knowledge 10x

  • $29K sure is a lot more than I paid. If you are there to learn and apply yourself stay clear of clowns like these, they will only hold you back.

The school most likely has a more in depth curriculum than when I was there with more support from the Manufactures.

If you are there to learn a career then yes it is well worth it.

  • how long is the schooling?

  • dont worry. 9/10 of these kids playing through mtp dont make through the electives. especially harley.

  • Sniper what graduating class were you in??? I went to school there when it was over by Bell rd.

  • I was there through the summer/winter of '84, graduated in Jan. '85.

I believe they just moved into the building on Deer Valley road.

  • more like 20k+ n not worth it.... cuz dip shits like this are all over that place. not to mention the know it all assholes....

  • i can't wait 2 start school....

  • you can make a decent living working on motorcycles my first year i made 25k the second i made 36k but i was also working my ass off to beat flat rate. theres not enough money in wrenching. the top mechanic at my old shop toped out at 65k a year and he had been there since jesus was a boy. and by the industry standards he was well payed for being a shop tech

  • It all depends on who's committed. A majority of the guys assume they'll be flat rate and kill the labor times once they get into a shop. That's definetly not the case. Decent living working on motorcycles.. yes, baking cakes and idoling chef ramsey.. no

  • This reminds me of culinary school. A lot of kids to deal with, and no payoff after graduating. Are there any trades that actually make a decent living?

  • I want to go to the school but you got to deal with immature high school punks like that. I'd end up beating the shit out of them and getting kicked out. If your not mature enough to go to school, stay home with mommy and play video games!! Dumbfucks!!!!

  • haha ur talkin about other ppl being immature. this comment was very immature.

    just sayin [=

  • dude you need to understand you will work with a ton of people in your lifetime. you will need to deal with it. if you like bikes enough to go to this school you will learn suck it up and not be such a prick

  • where are the fuckin teachers? they let these boneheads run wild. Looks like a high school auto shop class. Good Grief!!!

  • thnx for the info im going oct. 09 cant wait

  • good luck.

  • I think the school is totally worth it. You learn a lot if you put some effort into it. The only thing I hate is all the idiots who bitch and moan about how they aren't learning anything and its a waste of money. I recommend taking at least 1 major import course, and either BMW or Harley. Im taking Honda and Beemer, but early model Harley looks badass. Take yamaha if you want to work on snowmobiles, (if you can work on 1 brand of import, you can work on them all.) Honda is 24 weeks.

  • I agree. the people who bitch and moan are the ones who dont know anything. and actually learning, I've experienced those kids when I was there, I'm going to leave his name nameless but he couldnt tell the difference between a 2 and 4 stroke. IN CLINIC 5!! When I graduated they were making alot of changes, but the bikes are advancing alot every year, so its a good thing. Have fun and be safe guys. MMI has a high death count for immature riders

  • how much to get into the school

  • @YungMafiaFam

when i went 5 years ago it was 24k for suzuki yamaha kawasaki and honda. you dont have to take all 4 i would suggest Honda and kawasaki. thoes were by far the better classes of the 4

  • a i wanted to go there but i wanna work on kawsaki bikes and yamaha bikes but you said they work on snow mobiles and shit i dont want to do that or i could i just work on suzuki bikes

  • Well, you do work on Kawasaki and Yamaha bikes, but in Kawasaki, you get to also work on side by sides and jet ski's. Yamaha is the only snowmobile manufacturer in the school, so you get to work on snowmobiles too. From theory to clinic 9, all you do is work on motorcycles, when you get into your electives, you get to work on everything that that brand makes, (quads, side by sides, watercrafts, motorcycles.) I recommend going, you really learn a lot. Just show up on time and don't be a jackass

  • so how much does it cost to get into the school

  • better have your mommy mortgage her house. I heard it's upwards or $10,000+. I went there about 24 years ago and it was only around $5K then.

  • What grauding class were you in???

  • @sniper152 i just received a call from a rep there because of the email i sent them in regards of MMI... for me to take my "core" and the honda and yamaha electives. it would be 29,000. worth it??? idk.

  • Yea thats right, but there is a catch. They give you a list of all the different dealerships for specific manufacturers. Then they'll ask you to choose the ones you would like student services to call for you to see if they are hiring. Then its up to you to follow up by sending them your transcript, resume, etc... They just ask to see if those dealerships are hiring.. thats it. But I believe they also have postings in the C building and B building of dealerships that are already hiring.

  • They say they have guaranteed lifetime job placement. Is this true?

  • I disagree. Maybe me and nick have had better luck with securing a job after school, but i say its totally worth it. I graduated March of 08. I took bmw, honda, suzuki, and yami. Now i'm employed for a bmw motorcycle shop in San Fran. Pay's very well. I've been working there for the past 9 months and everything is going well. You'll meet the occasional retards in school but don't let them distract you from what you really want. JUST DONT WORK ANYWHERE NEAR AZ!

  • fo sho!

  • definitely not worth it. i just graduated last february from phoenix, took all 4 imports plus harley. couldnt even make enough to pay off the loans i had to take out to go to school there. had a blast and met a bunch of cool people, learned alot. but its totally a trap. paid 40 grand and i worked in a harley suzuki shop for 6 months making

9.50 and hour. DONT DO IT

  • It helps to have alittle experience before you enroll to this school. this school is for a degree, the industry is changing due to liable causes, so they are getting rid of the old timers for CERTIFIED techs, I trained under an old (A) tech for 3 months, Your a dumbass if your making 9.5hr, you didnt HAVE to go to MMI, just stick to washing the bikes while i'll R&R them. I paid 26k for all Imports + BMW graduated in march 08 and working for bmw pulling 2-2.5k every 2 weeks ..

  • this shit had me cracking up and remembering fucking off at the orlando campus lol.i graduated in may of 08 and am still looking for a job in the industry, and ive been trying my ass off.i wont say its not worth it yet but hopefully sometime soon it will be worth it.

  • I'm planning on going there as well Jan 09. What's wrong with this program? Is there no jobs once you graduate?

  • NEW YORK NIC! you fuck.. i didnt think this was gonna get onto you tube... did you see how Millhouse was just watching me do that dumb shit in the behind me.... good times

  • yeah i remember millhouse , but who are you ?

  • Ha, Ive been so busy with work, I just finally been able to put it on not to long ago.. Got to let the new generation of techs to see how fun it is..

  • Awesome.. good to hear your doing good. Hunter works for a yamaha dealership i think. Cody is working for a honda/suzuki dealership and DJ is working for a Harley dealer here in vallejo. I'm here in San Fran working for BMW

  • hahaha funny....So hows it like at MMI??? I'm planning on going there Feb of 09

  • DON'T GO its a waist of money. I wish I would have spent my money on a real collage degree. Mark my word you will have a fun time while your there (coco beach is only a 45 min drive) but once you get out in the REAL motorcycle world its a totally different ball game. I have talked to ALOT of my old buddies and none of them work in motorcycle shops except two of them. Go get a REAL collage degree is the best advice I can give you. Oh and if you drop out you still have to pay for EVERYTHING.

  • nobody forced you to go to this school.. I landed a damn good job doing what i LOVE.. your not going to make millions but if this is your dream and passion to work on bikes, money would not be an issue, youll work your way up in the tech ranks..
