I still remember racing in to watch the very first episode...was stuck in traffic and almost missed it! Now...after all these years, we have those little things called DVDs! Who knew back then!? Oh, and all the 'other' methods of 'getting' the 2-4 seasons! Gotta love technology!
I far, far prefer the theme in the early episodes of Season One compared to the later themes. It's far more reminiscent of the time the series was made, plus it's far more applicable to a SuperBOY as opposed to Superman.
People go on and on about how awful Season One is, but I honestly prefer it to the majority of Season Two. They actually created an atmosphere based around kids in college, as opposed to just making a Superman show that couldn't use the word "Man" which is what season 3&4 were
@gothamite27 How can you be 19 and be called superboy though? That would actually be Superman. No matter how you put it. Superboy should have at least been in Jr. High. But if the world wasn't introduced until superman came along then superboy would of had to take place in a different dimension.
@Stardrivepaintings I'm not arguing that the show's premise ISN'T kind of stupid and that Clark is too old to be called 'SuperBOY' in it. It's really silly that they did that. I get the feeling that the only reason they didn't have him in high school is because they didn't want to have to set the show in Smallville.
@gothamite27 Oh, they didn't even Set it in SmallVille? Wow. Thats how much attention I didn't pay to the show. I watched it a few times, it was okay. Wouldn't mind watching it again and seeing all the episodes. Maybe one day when i'm really bored. Imagine being 19 and you can fly, but Imagine being 27, and playing a freshman in high school, destined to become superman and not being able to fly. IE, Smallville. Interesting where this whole superman legacy will go if...
@gothamite27 What I would I would love to see is a continuous Superman Origin Story. Something that sticks a little more old school, not involving clark doing so much growing up, but leaving out the "memory gaps" about stuff happening in the past or the present. Maybe not revealing his identity to lex luthor and then killing off lex luthor. I'm planning on writing the ultimate superman story arc one of these days, minus all the plot holes.
@Stardrivepaintings Why do you think they keep redoing his origin in the comics? They've been trying to nail down the perfect Superman origin pretty much since the character's inception. The closest they've ever come is the Christopher Reeve movie and MAYBE Lois & Clark after that.
@gothamite27 As far as origion goes The original superman movie is the best. Other then the fact that clark had never seen his own blood in Superman 2. But They keep screwing up Lex Luthor. He was just pretty much a nobody in the superman movies. In Lois and Clark they started getting his character closer. But Lex Luthor in Smallville and the Animated series is the true lex luthor, other hten the fact they killed him in smallville
@hcvang The theme from season 3 and 4 was meh for me. It sounded like it was trying too hard to be like the movie theme, as opposed to the Season 1 theme from the first half of that season. The first part of the Season 1 theme is what I really like before the guitar part kicks in. A big reason why is that I actually watched this show when it first started and loved it as a kid and the theme has stuck with me ever since.

Is it just me, or did the theme for the first season of Superboy have a really kick ass and heroic sound to it?
alucard624 2 years ago 5
@alucard624 it's got a guitar rock sound to it - it's no more heroic than the better theme that followed in season 3 and 4.

Yeah, it doesnt really hold up today. But it's tradition, so I dont see reason to change it.
In the 70's cartoons they said that he fights for "Truth, Justice and Freedom - For all mankind!"
