Y does everyone hate on the baitcasters, I will admit it took me a while to get used to(pitching, flipping, skipping) but now I'm so accurate and it is worth it to learn how to use
Lol at all the people hating on baitcasters. Spinning reels are easy and convenient. But if you want to get serious distance, accuracy within inches, or serious winching power, you are gonna need a baitcaster.
i need help! my spool wont spin. like when i click the thumb release it works fine but when i spin the handle, the handle spins but the spool doesnt, and he thumb relese doesnt go up. so i manually have to click it up..whts wrong with it??
@billygtrg check your drag, and if its not that then the only other solution i have for you is your gears inside the reel are all torn up. open up the reel and see if you can see anything that could possibly go wrong with it. just make sure that you remember how to put it back together.
@ConsoleDiversity If you dont tie a knot, eventualy it will slip and you wont be able to retrieve in any more line. You'll be pretty frustrated when that happens while fighting a fish.
I tried mine like this yesterday, but the inside of those holes on the interior of the wiffle spool often have sharp edges or machining burrs. When I tied my knot, the line cut easily. So, good idea, but use caution.
@MRbassmasterman thats not a good idea, if youve ever caught a complete monster fish and youve let all your line out, yea you will be glad you tied a knot.
@JeSuSInCoRpErAtEd I can chase the fish with the boat...? I just pulled in a 10 pounder a couple days ago, it only took out like 10-15 yards of line... I can stop the line with my finger if I have to...
Wow, a guy show a great shortcut and Baitcasting reel users get flamed? I think somebody has ADHD and forgot to take their meds!
Baitcasters are more accurate, but if you learn the tricks a spinning real is almost as accurate. Spinning reals have good leverage, but baitcasters have far more leverage.
Both are tools, nothing more, nothing less. Each have their place, each have their advantages.
Oh, ya, changing line? Most of mine have quick change spool now that you can order.
Lukkbox is just a dumbshit who doesn't have the touch to use a baitcaster and feels the need to flame on those that can. Those who use baitcasters are pricks and mugs? more like you're an idiot who cant use one. My ass you can make a spinning reel as accurate as a baitcaster. Might as well say you catch more bass than kevin van dam...
Thank you. That was very helpful. I wondered what thoughs holes were for. I bought my first baitcaster and when I was puting the line on I notice the line would hold when I put it in one thoughs hole. What I didn't do was just give a turn like you said. I was so close. lol Now I know.
@lukkbox Lol .. whatever lure im using is what dictates the reel i use .. if im using a jig crankbait or spinner i use a baitcaster .. but if im usin a worm or any soft lure i use a spinning reel
@lukkbox Idk i can get lures in tight places with baitcasters ... i can cast more accuratley with baitcasters and i can work the bait better with baitcaster
@iTzzEuphoriaaaaaa i can get the lures in tight places with a spinning reel, i can cast to within a foot of anywhere with a spinning reel and i work the bait lovely with my rod not my reel
i just dont see any benefit to these reels and there are so many downsides its un'reel' lol
@lukkbox Idk man i like em thats what i learned on so thats what i stuck with i mean dont get me wrong i love the reliability of a spinning reel and the smoothness and the castability whenever i go fish i take both i dont really favor either one thy are both gret reels for whatever style of fishing im doing
@lukkbox I never get bird nests if i do i cant get them out i know a trick short casts ? nah not quite inability to change line strength ? i can switch line anytime i want in about 1 minute ???
@lukkbox Because you can cast further (the line runs smoothly off and through the rod rings)? , because they are stronger ? and they don't twist the line on the retrieve ?
And don't be hating on me I can't cast a baitcaster for shit but They DO have advantages ..
I heard that the wiffle spool can cut the braided line...would you recommend putting tape over them? Or do they actually cut the line?
woodsboy22 1 week ago
so can you tie fluro like that or do you need a mono backing, also which hand is that reels made for?

Ive heard that with braid thats all you have to do but with a smooth spool you need a backing do you need a backing on a wiffle spool?
SuttonOutdoors 7 months ago
@SuttonOutdoors id use it anyway so that way i use less line and ill get a good amount of monofilament and tie it onto braid with a uni knot

whoever couldnt figure this out on their own should have their rod broke over their head lol

@bassfishing4trout
because they are drilled out, they are lighter. and since the spool spins any weight loss on that area, will greatly increase casting distance.
CarcinogenicRaccoon 1 year ago
@iTzzEuphoriaaaaaa not as much as using a spinning reel increases distance
people that use baitcasting reels are pricks

@iTzzEuphoriaaaaaa why would you use a baitcaster with a spinner? why not use a spinning reel with a spinner?
baitcasting reels were invented for one thing only, to make tackle shops more money
there is nothing you can do with a baitcasting reel that cant be done better with a spinning reel, at least in my hands anyway
its the indian, not the arrow
