are the keys smaller than "normal-whatever that is"? It just looked like they are smaller sized. oh, and is that a preset sound? so i can avoid it when I get my ION
Oberheim shmoberheim. This Ion, and especially the guy in the other video playing "jump" on his Ion sound more than good enough and close enough to the real "jump" and the only way to tell the difference -whatever little difference it is- is by listening to both at the same time.
Why all the critics.I think it's an excellent job. He hasn't got a Oberheim, but it's close enough, despite the big sound. people wanting the exact sound, no wonder everyone sounds the same out there, A variation, can be a good thing, and add, new life to a song. I think, this videois excellent. for one thing. you can see the actual chords he's using to play your self. no usual pointless speil, or,posing. just gets on with an excellent job. well done. keep it up. LOL .
Yes, I totally agree with you. But you can't get perfection when you don't have Curtis filter IC's onboard, and youtube's audio conversion at the time of the upload sucked.
question: It appears you are using computer speakers to produce the sound? or are there internal speakers in the ion? ALSO, did you make that sound on the keyboard or a computer??
Hi, thanks for the comment. Well, for the video I recorded the sound through my interface, so the speakers are just sitting there. The Ion doesn't have internal speakers though, just left and right outputs and a stereo headphone jack. All of the sounds are coming directly from the Ion itself with no computer enhancement. It sounds better in real life because the audio compression on Youtube isin't the best. For the money though the Ion can;t be beat in terms of flexibility.
I have tried to play "jump" on my alesis micron, using a 61 key controller, through a Marshall amp,but your "Jump" on the ion is even better...
Maybe i should buy an Ion too :)

Did you use the patch called "jump"? I love how alesis put in extremely recognizeable synth sounds. and funny patch names too!

thanks. yeah, it still needs some work =)

Honestly, that sounds nothing like the OB-X.. It's thin and tinny sounding. The Oberheim is fat, warm and natural sounding.
