@QueticoChris Hi Chris! When you boil a burl it is much easier to carve. Especially if it is dry. I usually boil fresh burls too, because the wood gets soft and easy to carve. The salt is supposed to prevent cracks when the bowl dries. I have heard that the salt binds water inside the cells. If that is true or not I don´t know. Nice work. As for me though, I'll stick to the lathe way. Nothing wrong with your way but mine is about 5,000 X faster.
