... Guess which one of them holds the record for fastest sailing thing on the water? the windsurfer(nearly 50 knots is the record atm!) so If there wouldve been more wind, and the surfer didnt have such an idiotic wide board, but instead a speed needle, he wouldve beaten the trimaran...
They really needed to work hard to keep that windsurfer competitive: sailing a reach on relatively flat water with a grossly underpowered tri. The tri is clearly faster... but tens of thousands of times more expensive.
The man says " On va loffer ?" which are sailboat words to say " Do we turn to the direction of the wind ? " you can see him make a sign with his hand to the windsurfer. So he turns and says : " On peut border un peu encore. " which are sailboat words to say : " We can adjust the sail now" ans yes, the tri is completly under powered. Good sail.
I love the end where the helmsman is talking i dont know what language he was speaking but im guessing he was saying "why the hell arent we going faster?"
The tri was ABSOLUTELY under powered. Check the main with the third reef on, and the gennaker stored on the bow!. They can put a lot of more sail in that wind. Nobody is best than the other, they're two absolutely differents things.
formula windsurfing,one of the best dollas to speed ratios in sailing. As for being covered, no, they're both apparent wind sailing, it seems that its hard for formula guys to really cover each other on the reaches in a race if even if they're trying
Hmmmmm - agree windsurfing rocks and this videa shows how you need such a large and complex sailing boat to match a sail board for speed but not sure how much you, cunners14 and Balzardk understand about sailing and wind.
With the wind angle compared to both the windsurfer and boats direction the windsurfer actually has clear air coming over his left shoulder. The only dirty air will be to left of shot actually.
On the reach the result would have been different
