  • does anyone know the name of the tune that starts at 4:52 ?

  • was that Cabar Feigh?????I heard?/??

  • You ,sir, are correct! That was the strathspey version of Cabar Feidh.

  • was a jig version actually!

  • Silly me! You're right. Listening to it again, I don't understand why I thought it was a strathspey. Waaaay too round.

  • wow lotsof tenors, loved it...BRILLIANT

  • yes its till kingdom come

  • Siiick.

    Super cool!

  • Innovation... 5:47 and on. Considerable difference in how much the sound travels. Good timing.

  • He had a tube from the breating hole in his drum to his mouse and just filled it up with air and let it out with playing.

  • MY favorite band :)

  • What's the name of the Slow Air? I know Shotts have pulled some Coldplay in there before, and it sounds an awful lot like "To Kingdom Come" to me! Brilliant Medley regardless. I love it, cheese and all. :)

  • Yeah, it's till kingdom come :)

Good tune that. the band I play with - Noth Lanarkshire schools played that in the juvanile medley thanks to Robert ^_^

  • good on them- It certainly was one of the most talked about things that day

  • wow very nice video and sound quality on this video compared to others i have watched good job

  • The Openers called Tommy MacDonald of Barguillian ;)

  • dont like the switch between first and second tune doesnt work to beh honest :S

  • whats the name of the opener

  • I believe it is "tommy macdonald of barguillean".

  • hello what a beautifull slow air a+ :)

  • Personally, I think this would have been a great set if in a concert or even for a smaller competition but not for the worlds...yet

  • The caber feidh jig rocks!

  • Also Chunk, saw the turn first hand again at Cowal (where we were 2nd equal and won the drumming!!) and what it does is make the sound bigger at the end. Cheesy, but clever!

  • that turn at the end was nice.

  • Shotts always lead the way. Now watch the others copy them! I wonder who will be brave enough to includes quads in the corps? Maybe two or more Bass drums all of a different size? We shall see.

  • not in competition please..... just keep making the music more and more thrilling

  • Cool move. Dig it.

But seriously. Every single time anyone questions anything about the RSPBA or one little thing a pipe band does, everyone else's response every time is "So what G1 band do you play in?" Why does someone HAVE to play in a G1 band just to have an opinion? Stupid.

  • @swelsher I agree, I'm in a grade 4 NZ band think of how I feel

  • I've never been thier biggest fan, even had mates that played for them, but that was one of the best medleys they've played.

Well done for having the balls to do what you did in last tune too.

    :-)

  • how could you be roped in by that loon, i thought you had more will power than that!!!!!

Being sucked into the Shotts world of cheese!

The medly, not bad but turning at the end it's no right at all, it's the same as Toronto Police opener what the hell is that all about?

    Much love Chunk

  • Now I wouldn't turn myself, but what it has done is to get people talking about them. Same with the tenor drummer with the hose. Could have done it with all tenors. Poeple talking about it.

Not in with the cheese, but good to have the balls to do it. Toronto's medley absoulutely rocks! NOT It's the worst thing I've ever heard! Sounds like one big shite exercise in bad harmonies. The only good thing about it is the end when the noise has stopped!!! Ha

Hope your doin well ma loon.

  • Totally wrong about the tenors. The 'tube effect' was played over 4 bars with a total of 12 strikes being played over a full octave. Now I count only 7 tenor drummers, so how could the same effect have been acheived with 7 drums? Over to you...

  • Fair enough, but I'm right about them just doing it for show. They could have created a "similar effect" with thier 7 Tenors and Bass. Like I said, at least they had the balls to do something different.

  • Mmmm, no... 7+1=8... 12 notes, remember? Did you miss sums at school? LOL!

  • Did you miss English or reading??? I said SIMILAR EFFECT, not SAME EFFECT.

    lol :-)

  • so y dont the snares turnround ?

  • look at how close the snares are haha.. imagine trying to turn round with a drum attatched to yer front that close? it would just cause havock!

  • I like to see the top grade 1 bands "push the envelope" so to speak. SOme ideas will result in an evolutionary jump in the idiom, and some won't work. But good for them for having an original idea and having the guts to try it. But:

    ****DISCLAIMER*******

To all grade 4 bands...DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!!!

    :-)
