What made him so fast was that usually people with long legs take longer strides and cant move their legs back and forth as quick as a person with short legs. Was it the knee injury in his last years of Arsenal, gained more muscels and add aging declined his speed?

@Jonzer1983 in my opinion its a mix of diffrent influences. first of all its the age. footballers reach their physical peak at 26-30. after 30 they normally loose speed. you can see it best on henry, ronaldo. injuries are also a factor. in professional football, you dont have the time to fully recover injuries.. its a sad fact.

its a combination of getting older and havin injuries..

his physical decline happened in the summer of '06. i believe he has a chronic back problem. but more than that his mental burnout started in late '05. arsenal leached off him for the better half of a decade. he pretty much was the team handling goals and assists with only above average talent around him. never truly got the recognition he deserved. EPL aint the best league but it is the toughest league. they broke him down. sad really.
