It's stupid!!!! Im african american and it doesnt make any since. God made us different and they should deal with it. I think we're all beautiful no matter what color you look like. Be a positive person and forget about it. People call me nigger i dont care cause i know i am, it's not so bad you just have to think positive. :)
sadly, racism is still such a huge issue. i mean. you would think that after thousands of years of existance that people would get over it already. but yeah, i hate it when people give me crap for being bengali (and a muslim) because they usually don't even know me. and since a lot of people don't know what bengali is, they always assume i'm either middle eastern or hispanic. idk, it's a little odd.
Hmmm? What's all these discrimination thing about? Being what we are is not anyone's fault. I am pretty sure that everyone takes pride of who they are. I am an Asian anyway. LOLs. And of course, i am proud of my hair color, my skin color and etc. Haha, i am kinda lame. I know.
I went to France last January and the people that I experienced were very rude and racist towards the American group I was travelling with. But others were really nice. Hmmm...
I'm Asian-American and have recently gotten married. My husband is Polish. Being together for 6 1/2 years, we've experienced a lot of racist comments (mostly from other Asians). When I look at my husband, I don't see race. To me, he's my best friend and I just love him. It's amazing how, even in NY, we encounter people who are still so brazen in vocalizing their racist attitudes. We just take it in stride. When it comes down to it, the only thoughts and attitudes we can control, are our own.
Just remember that everyone is made the same way. Some peoples flaws show and other peoples flaws don't show up until they open their mouths. My nephew is half Korean and half caucasian. He went through a lot growing up.
As a Cambodian-American, I'm pretty used to hearing racist or discriminating comments every now and then. But at times, it can really get to me. I have a friend who is usually a jerk to all people, and he makes stupid comments about my heritage to me. That is something I can deal with because I know he will never intentionally hurt me. Lol, don't ask why he is still my friend if he's a jerk, its complicated.
If complete strangers tease me, then I know it's time to step up and defend myself.
Racism and discrimination is not limited from one to other races or countries. Our own race or country group of people also having prejudice with their own. I was looking down by my own countrymen and yet foreigners are so kind to me, which I really appreciate their kindness.
And honestly, it hurts that there is so much hate and disgusts towards different ethnicities since we are all on the same land abiding by the same laws.
My mother endured so much pain to give me an American life and I feel it degrades all of her sacrifices to get here.
However, I do feel that not retaliating on people and just being kind regardless is the solution to end the hate.
I am so proud to be Vietnamese-American and contribute to our diversity and I think we all should be.
I have had the opportunity to experience the American culture first hand and live out my Vietnamese culture at home with my family. My mother immigrated here and went through so much for me to be here and be an American. However I suppose I don't look/act completely Vietnamese 24/7 so my mother and I always get people talking crap about us thinking we don't understand. She always tells me to "kill them with kindness" so their own shame will hurt them more than any harsh words I say will.
Being Mexican American, I do recieve ALOT of not only verbal insults but also nasty looks. People assume that just because I have a latina look that I must certainly be an illegal immigrant. Sadly enough people show their level of ignorance by making those mean remarks, they only make themselves look bad..
And how do I deal with it...well I ignore them, I mean, it's not like I depend on them in any way, shape or form, right? Well good bye and keep up the great work...
Being an intnernational student studying in Australia, I do tend to get racists comments thrown at me. I am a Chinese Singaporean, but people assume I am from China and from their comments I guess they dont really like asians or people who come from China for that matter. I just feel so sad for racists. Its really total ignorance.
I love your eye shadow in this video. Toward the end of the video I realized that your room is red and white and your laundry basket is blue! Did you notice that?
combating racism with racism doesnt do anyone any good, so i'd simply say 'my heritage may be disgusting and disgraceful in your eyes, but it's what makes me me and i'm extremely proud. what you see and what i see are different, that's what makes the world go around the way it does. deal with it. also, you've obviously not been taught your manners so i'd go fix that before dictating and lookin down on others...if i were you, and thank god that i'm not.'
Hey everyone! If you're a subscriber to xteeener, go and vote for her @ Encore's contest video (pretty cool prizes). Just say you want to vote for her, BUT you have to subscribe to Encore if you aren't already!
hihi..i like your video so much hope u can upload it more..i love playing with makeup although i dont wear it frequently..but i love to have my own makeup collection like you although i m stil a student, anyways i already responce to your contest and farewell so hope you understand what i say...:)bye!
I haven't really ever gotten any racist comments, but my school is kinda divided, because lots of my friends are asian, i'm only half. my mom notices it. part of it is because there are lots of asians at my school, but the asians at my school seem to seperate themselves, plus the whole stereo type of them always being a+ students and everything, I wish it were different sometimes...
Hehe your eye make-up is gorgeous in this video! Just subscribed by the way :P
Anyway, I got a lot of racist comments before too as I was the only asian kid in my school, apart from my siblings, so I know how that feels. It's also kinda hard sometimes because I live in a small town kinda place, and I even get remarks and stares and laughs in my neighbourhood, even though ive been here a couple of years now :/But I'd say just ignore them, because it's quite likely you have more talent than them!
I when to Walmart, these 2 girls keep on looking at me. They were saying stuff in khmer(like I have nice face BUT I have a BIG FAT TOE)They thought that I was Vietnamese because of my light skin but I'm not.So, I turn around and said to them in khmer.. Oh share the laugh, Who's the girl BIG FAT TOE... they look at me and said to me.. you speak khmer too... i said OH YEAH i do.They're reaction was too funny.... Anyways, i get that a lot.
I have been a victim of racism in the past, coming from a Latin decent, everyone automatically assumes you are Mexican (nothing against the Mexican culture), however, we are all stereo typed. It usually doesn't affect me, I believe that people who make racist remarks against others simply because either they don't like your culture or they are too proud of their own, I find that to be ignorance. It all depends on the maturity level of the individual
i probably should have included this in my video, but, i've always had a problem with people saying that others act "black." i dont think black is a personality. its a skin color. black people and white people and indians can act the same. i just dont like people saying "you act black" or "you act white."
I have never recieved racist remarks. But i believe people only do it because they feel better about themselves, after they hurt your feelings!
I dont think you should worry aslong as your happy with yourself is what counts. I also believe that people are never happy with themselves, so they hurt other people with rude remarks to get more confident.I dont think you should worry, They dont no you (most of the time), so they have no right to say mean comments.Thats what i think.
I've always gotten discriminated here and there for my skin color. Because I'm Irish, Polish, German, English, and American, having fair skin comes along with being Irish. People would always tell me that I should try tanning and I'll never do it cause I'm not in to looking unnatural and risking my life because I could get skin cancer later in life. I also get made fun of because I have red hair, and not a lot of people in my class have red hair. I still feel unique but like I can't do anything.
i was born and grew up in Indonesia as chinese indo. In this country, there're mainly native indo and chinese indo. My parents dont speak chinese at all, so in the society, I felt so left out. The natives knew from my slanty eyes, i wasnt one of them,on the other hand, the chinese ones immediately treated me as one of the natives as soon as they found out i dont speak chinese. I used to come home and cried. now, i ignore them. if they can't accept who i am, they're not worth to be my friends.
Your videos are so informative and way more comprehensive than the makeup class that I used to take. Thanks so much for sharing them with us.
It is surprising that you still are nice and all smiling when talking about the racist comments thay you've got recently. I actually think you have dealt with it beautifully. I am Vietnamese too, and sadly, I got into that situation every now and then. What I did was to ignore and let those dumb remarks washed away themselves. It just didn't worth it
I've received a lot of them since i attend a Half boarding school (white aussie kids) and half Day go students (comprised of asians- I'm the day go). we often get remarks in regards to our eye ('open your eyes'), or the food we eat or even our academic capabilities (since we're a selective school). They often call us 'Daygo's are gaybo's'. I usually just give them the finger and tell them us Asians invented Pentium 4 (lol i'm not too clear on this one. but i was told)
ive never experience any racist remark from anyone but how i would reply back would depend on how harsh the comment is...
like to say if they say go back to china or something like that..i would stick for wat is right and say all these stuff haaha back...
but if its just something goofy or unimportant i wouldnt care much..well thats my thought and feelings about racist remarks..hopefully this makes sense ;D
heyy xteener! i absolutely love watching ur videos...about the racial question, ppl always make jokes in school about asians and african americans and i believe the best way to deal with it is just dont take it seriously because then it doesnt bother you, because you really cant control it and its not like it will stop forever...im korean and i have no problem with itt, its uncomfortable sometimes but just laugh...i think most of it is funny. just dont take it seriously
Wow have fun in Vietnam! I don't think I can participate in the racism situation, but what about sexism? I mean they are both equal in the rude category. But your so pretty! I think it is really pathetic that someone would tell you that you are ugly or something like that. They are just very very very dumb!
It is quite sad that racism still exists. Unfortunately, I've experienced it a lot in my lifetime. Whether it's because I'm Black or Haitian, individuals (of all races) always have something to say.
I am comfortable in my skin and have pride in my culture. I just know that I have to live my life and rather not spend any of it on certain individuals. I just pray for these ppl, LOL.
don't pay no mind to those racist comments. You're a beautiful girl. Sadly there will always be some stupid people trying to ruin your day. Keep up the good work!
I hear you, Im mixed (my mums white and dads black) and i find it really hard to be accepted by the two races, im either not black enough or not white enough. It drives me nuts.
Don't feel alone. Even ppl who are Black and not mixed experience that as well. Just remember there are so many great people out there--black, white, and every other color. :)
i'm half caucasian and half vietnamese. i've been discriminated against by both asians who thought i wasn't "asian enough" to hang out with them, and by whites who thought i wasn't "white enough."
my and my friends when we walk home, just because we are chinese, they throw mud at us. they spat on my friends. i think some of them dont know what their actions are doing to our feelings. i just told them that they were being racist, and told them to stop. they have stopped now which is good
to me! lol Another guy turned around while i was in the train with my friend and gasped 'oh my god! i thought you were Australian by the way you spoke!" I looked at him blankly and said, 'What do you mean? I AM Australian??!!' lol
oh well. Like many have said, racism will always linger. Thing is, we're all the same arent we? We all have eyes, noses, hands, feet etc. Just accept that we're different coloured skins but have red blood running through our viens :)
I am Chinese Australian, like you, my family went through hell to try to get here. My parents provided me with the BEST possible life here in Australia, and i try never to take that for granted. I work as a waitress and therefore i come across MANY customers from a lot of different backgrounds. Many of the older caucasion customers speak really s-l-o-w-l-y to me because they think i cant understand! What do i do? I respond to them in clear, slow english just like how they spoke
Hey, I am hispanic, (half puerto rican, halfmexican) and pretty much lately i have gotten other latinos trying to speak spanish to me and i dnt understand. they tell me "oh your latina, you shud kno spanish!" and they kind of make me feel bad you know. i just ignore them tho. my parents both speak spanish but never taught me sadly. =( but yeah dnt let it get to you! i wish they cud respect that i cnt speak spanish, wish i knew more then i do tho! =) take care!
I can't even list the number of times someone thought I was born and raised in China, going off to college in China, and fluent in Chinese etc just because of the way I look. One of the most annoying things is when people go up to you and blurt, "What are you?" I have an answer for that. I am American. Although the answer they would be expecting is something like "Chinese" or "Japanese", just because it is not always obvious what race I belong to, why do you care? It's what's inside that matters
I am Chinese and I used to feel insulted whenever people say something about my culture. Now, I just ignore whenever someone says something about my race. I'm proud of my tiny eyes, I'm proud to speak a language other than English, and I'm proud to be who I am. If someone said a racist remark to me, I would just do the unchildish thing and just ignore it, because it doesn't matter. I know who I am, and that's all that really matters to me.
i am from hk n hv experience living in england and now is now living in sweden. sadly, racisim exists. but i guess what i have learnt is to look back how the ppl in my country treats others (reflection), and learn not to discriminate or stereotype others based on their races/my prejudice. btw, it is always easy for immigrants to associate all unpleasant experiences with discrimination, when sometimes they are not really the case. so in short, i think communication/understanding is the needed.
hiyahh my dad is black and he has been called names my best tip would to be dont let them pull u down causse there bored with there life and have nothing else to do but call people names i hope tht helped a wee bit x
you should just laugh at them and try not to let it bother you=]
they'll get a taste of their own medicine sooner or later (what goes around comes around) if they post a racist or rude comment, spam them... who cares what they think, you are very beautiful nomatter what your race is, you don't have to listen to the crap they give you...
hey!.. im chinese and i live in 4 different places aready: miami, jamaica (born& raised) China and hong kong.. it really different. i lived in all those countries and have gotten racist remarks.. sometimes it would be in Jamaica like you dont belong here, or your family and other chinese ppl wanna take over and stuff its stupid, and like in china and hong kong cuz i hav a tan they wud be like im not from here and treat me different but truth is im 100%chinese
couldnt make a response so I made a comment What I would say to a racist comment:Dont say that to me.I am from a different country but it doesnt mean I'm weird.i look different so who cares.I think God just wants us to be human.Thats all we are.I have the same feelings & i care for the same things. All girls want to look cute, all guys want to look hot.I dont choose how I look when i'm born but i should be proud of my culture. The common thing we share is WERE HUMAN.WE
ohh and not only that people who are racist all think they are great people and say they dedicate every sunday to their religion and stuff, but they really need to preactice what they preach because they are hurting people and don't even realize the effect it has on that person. Its just not fair. Not only does it happwn with nationalties... it happens with religion, where you shop and who you hang out it. and thats only part of it...
that is for me, i hope i made you feel a little better (:
its sad people act they way they do when it comes to nationalities. My mom was born in cuba. Her & her family left there seeking for a better future & wanting to be free. Unfortunatley people call ALL cubans communists but what they don't realize is they leave for a reason. When i get called something b/c my mom is a "floater" i ignore it & let them make a fool of themselves b/c getting in a fight wont teach them anything, it will just give them what they want. They are only hurting themselves
hi i'm Kim and i'm mexican. I was born in the U.S. but my parents weren't. they struggled to get here too. it hurts me when they say things like those mexicans need to stay on the other side of the border or like when they use the word wetback it just hurts to know they r talking bout my family I know it hurts but how i respond is i just let it go because it's never gonna stop. this world is so full of hatred it's ridiculous. we bring so much to this country so don't worry i'm glad ur in america
i feel that it's difficult to say something to someone who is racist. I think the best way is to not give a negative reaction back because obviously they want to make you feel hurt & to feel like you dont belong. I feel that by a positive reaction such as a smile or to even say "im sorry that you see it that way" & to just walk away. Ppl can be ignorant & rude. If those ppl were in some way hurt by a certain person maybe we should show them not all ppl are that way & to kill them with kindess.
im a filipina. in public and school, ignorant, arrogant people would say "chink, gook, flat-face bitch, ching chong" and many others. it doesn't affect or hurt me like it used to, and i just ignore them, give them the middle finger (classy i know lol), or i look them in the eye and tell them to shutup. im not one to respond back w/ a racist comment b/c that's just too low for me. i applaud you for being open w/ such a sensitive issue. thanks for sharing your beauty tips!! you shine in and out!
I've just found out and subscribed to you....your vids are so great! I would suggest ignoring racist remarks and know that there are a lot of people who are supporting you...and also. DO NOT feel any aversion about deleting racist comments. this is YOUR channel and you can do whatever you want with it. asian americans face racism in real life all over--why would you need to keep racist remarks here?
you are such a beautiful girl, inside and out--I'm looking foward to your vids <3
umm i wouldnt responde. i just let them say what they want, they are stupid. But if i did say some thing i would most likely take what they say and make a joke out of it, it will make them fell like 'man it didnt bother her "
Racist people always think their races are superior in everyway than others. Believe me those people are never happy as their hearts are full of hate. The world becomes smaller, the mixities are everywhere.I feel sorry for them. They must be suffer more&more...
Enjoy your holidays Xteener. I'll re-watch & re-practice from your old videos in the mean time ;)
No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.
Ask Travis McCoy from Gym Class Heroes. He beat some guy up a couple of days ago for calling him the N-word and got arrested for it. Racist people are the worst of them all.
Being Polish I'm the butt of a lot of jokes. I don't really let it get to me, but some may let it get to them. It's a horrible cycle.
Hello!Sorry for my english but I'm italian.I was called "mangia spaghetti" sometimes or "mafia" by French people, and we have the same kind of face! So, only ignorants can be racist. I really love learnig about other culture and I enjoy showing how beautiful is my country.
Having lived in the south my whole life,I unfortunately see racism is alive and well. It has become convert. Why? Because the would have to allow all races to join. basically,it comes down to The Sons of Confederate Veterans going up against the various minority groups. Anyway, I'd ask the person where they are from. The only native North Americans are native American. Caucasion white peple are. All white people are a mix of many nationalities.
You know, it's very sad that people take their time out to make racist remarks (any mean remarks at that) to you. No one deserves that. You seem like a very sweet and down to earth individual, and I know it's hard to ignore. However, there will always be immature and stupid people that can't see past their own small minded world. Just keep doing what you're doing and ignore them. They are not worth your energy.
hello! I've never posted a comment but i really love your videos. I find it really sad that people have to make rude comments. Its really uncalled for. I say just ignore them, they really don't deserve your attention. You seem like a really sweet and down to earth person. Don't let those type of people get to you.
I live in an area where racism is rampant. In the past it made me feel bad, but now I can sort of just roll my eyes and go on with my life without much of a thought. It's either that or let it eat at me, and I'm just not willing to let the words or actions of someone so ignorant get in the way of my life.
racist people don't know people from other ethnicities, that's why they are ignorant so they can spew such stupid stuff. I have muslim friends that's why I don't say stuff like "kill all muslims". Ignore them, they are losers and they are idiots.
thanks for saying white folks can get racist comments too. I know I have butI just ignore it. My family hasn't been in america that long my grandparents weren't born here it's just funny how people think not everyone can have these experiences. I wish it didn't happen but people who feel the need to hate someone based on their ethnicity is someone that doesn't deserve the time of day. i would do the contest but I can't find my camera hehe.
i don't like it when people are racist! ive been made fun of alot... it gets me so sad... so, well, hopefully i can post a video respond... and have a great trip!
okay if someone made a racist remark to me, i'll probably be really mad. then i'll say something about their race but then how retarded and immature is that? so i ignore it. lmfao.
idk, it's just annoying when people make racist remarks. like wtf is your DEAL? geez. have fun in vietnam thoughh!
Thanks for addressing this! I have noticed racism seems to be an accepted theme on You Tube -people leave such outrageous remarks on here that wouldn't even be tolerated on a standard Forum. I think people are referring to your race because of jealousy; can they slag you because you are ugly? or horrible? or stupid? or arrogant? No, so they go for race. I always consider the fight/flight resolution but on You Tube people are just spineless so just ignore them! Or just say thankyou. It annoys em!
I love how you did your make up =) It doesn't look cheesy or anything, it looks really nice.
If someone said something racist to me I probably, truthfully wouldn't care too much I would just ignore it or if I answered it I would say that it was really unnesisary. :)
honestly who gives a SHIT with ignorant people say & think about u or neone else for that matter. those people suck, and need to grow up, i know it hurts probably because it is really mean, but you seem like a really cool person with alot of talent so fuck em! and also have a really really good time in the V! hehe- be safe too ;]
But if they go tooo far, I don't know...just slap them? I had a classroom mate who is black and someone called her a "nigger" and then she slapped that guy. Haha...that's awesome. But you have to be carefull with that. Personally I'm against violence and tend to avoid anything that has to do with it.
How to react on racism: react just the opposite way they expect you to react. Don't react mad or angry cause this will lead to a useless discussion. I think it also depends a little on the situation. On youtube I would just ignore the comments. In real life you could respond to them as if they are children like "oh...you don't like my skin color? That's sad...maybe you want an icecream?" It may sound silly but in some cases it can make people feel really uncomfortable.
I work at a retail store that attracts all types of people. One day, a large Asian family walked in to see what we had. There were about 15 people in my store speaking Chinese, and one Caucasian couple at the register. When the Chinese family left, the Caucasian man said, "What the hell?! The tour bus must have just let out!" I don't stand for any type of discrimination, so I told him how immature comments like that were. He left in a crappy mood bc no one laughed
i dont have a video camra, to do this contest, but i cant tell you a story that happend to me just resently. One day i was hanging out with one of my frineds, and i was at her house, her bf's friend was over and me and my friend were talking about my boyfriend, witch he is ejyption.. his friend asked me since when do you have a bf? then was like what is he hispanic? i was like no then he was like is he arab,i said he is egyption.. and he called him a sand nigger i was so hurt. i felt so bad.
my mom is 50% lebanese (or however you spell it) which would make me and my siblings 25%, and my brother being as stupid as he is will call my mom a dune coon, sand nigger, and rag head... i guess he doesnt realize that he is 25%
hi, now it's the fourth of july and you're probably already half your way to vietnam *envyyou*.
i hope you come back with a lot of pics and vids from your beautiful country :)
i am hyphenated, too, and it makes me a little sad that you're enviromental seems to have brought you to this idea for the contest. i wish, all of us could grow up without experiencing discrimination.
One other thing... why would you want to hear about rasical issues when you want to have a nice trip in Vietnam? It will ruin your trip! So, don't bother watching the feedbacks before you come back. And last of all, have fun and show us your Vietnamese make-up products!!!
One day I was eating in Subway. I was sitting next to the store window like I always do. And then a group of group Asian school students were on a field trip, passing by the store. The two Caucasians sitting in front of me said, "WOW, this is like a chow man public school." I really wanted to pour my drink over their heads. It's hard to avoid racism when you are living in a multi-culture community like Cal.
I am cherokee and abinaki.Abinaki is a maine tribe.i am very light skin but also dark.I dont get teased or hassled for it, But I do cause of my disability,.But like my mom always said I am me and only me.And there is no one like me.So luv remember your you and there is no one that can take that away.
I am Native American Indian, Irish and other races. I appear Caucasion. I find many things attractive about all kinds of people. I find Native American Indians to be the most attractive race. Does that make me a racist? Its in my nature to date and marry in the astrological sign of Cancer. I try not to judge people, though I do, mostly relatives and friends. I form opinions based on their actions. In the end personality and individual actions are what matter. In vanity I am racist.
I can only hope that one day that all racist people just up and drop dead all at the same time. Do you people realize how much better this world would be without such hatred? And through history this country as been at the forefront of racism. Rather embarrassing if you think about it.
but whenever i get racist remarks i usually just ignore them, because i realize every time that they're just fags with no lives, and i'm bigger and better than them. i'm asian, and last time i got "slanty-eyed bitch" like jennatrang i said to them, "mmhmm i'm a slanty-eyed bitch. now go fuck yourself." i make sure never to resort to racism in return, because that would make me just as close-minded as the original offender.
Well, being that you just called them 'fags'... i believe that does make you as close-minded as the original offender. It isn't racist, but it is prejudice.
Hi, Im Asian and one of my recent racist encounters are my girl friends and i having our own quiet gossip time at a bar. A group of Caucasian guys approached us trying to get lucky. As we politely show them we are not interested racist remarks was then follow. "2 dollar whore, slanty eye bitch" etc was some of the comments that we received. Usually we will tell security but we were too occupied in our own little discussion so didn't bother.
Im iraqi Canadian & where i live there wasnt racisim untill recently Im really not used to it i feel uncomfy with the sudden change & the stupid comments but Im learning to deal with it i carry myself with PRIDE & if some1 dosnt like it too bad for them some comments r jus so dumb that i have to respond with an even dumber comment & it SHOCKS them when i talk back cuz they think i don speak eng i was born in CDA & i wear Hijab & proud of it & im as CANADIAN as any1 ELSE here! Aceept it HEHE!
Hi. I am an Iraqi born in USA. I am only Iraqi :-) nothing else nothing more. Also, if someone is racist with me I would ignore it. People are free to hate or love or like what or who they want. . .enjoy your visit to Vietnam, take care be safe.
i was born in Hong Kong, but it was part of Britain.. and i've been raised in Canada because that's where i was adopted. So i get quite a few remarks, usually people just sorta think it's as a joke but ya it hurts.. so i know where your coming from. Usually if its not a joke or something i actually tell her person straight up how rude and not funny it is.... hopefully that helps! have a great Independence day! wish you the best
That makes me really sad that people are posting racist responses. I think it's important not to waste time on racists or dwell on their comments that are intended to make you feel inadequate or unattractive. However, people need to talk constructively about racism, how it manifests, what the history is and what can be done to end it.
Also, I think you should be proud of who you are and what you look like.
As a Latina I have had many racist comments made to me. Once my financee & I went to the beach & decided to have a few cocktails. As we were sitting in the patio we heard 6 people making terrible racist remarks/jokes about Mexicans(they kept turning around looking at me) My financee (who's white) asked if he should go up to them & say something. I said "No, they're ignorant,we'll just sit here drink our cocktails". After we finished our drinks I just held my head high & walked right past them.
hmmm sorry i can't actually make a video but in response to your contest
my friend who has a chinese name once got made fun of by her friend because her name slighly sounded like Bin Laden. my friend took it very seriously and ignored him and distanced herself from him automatically. very soon, the guy felt guilty and apologized many times until she finally forgave him. i think its important to take a stand and treat it as a serious matter as opposed to going along with it.
if a joke has been made relating to your race, you have to show that you are not going to ignore it.
another thing this reminded me of was on the tyra banks show, when an asian girl appeared and talked about her double eyelid surgery. this was especially etched in my mind because i at least before this, had some respect for tyra banks and always saw her as
close to the last person to be racist (although the situation that i am about to describe doesnt exactly make her one. more like it showed how desperate she was to seem like a good talk show host). what basicaly happened was that tyra claimed the asian girl got the double eyelid surgery because she wanted to be more caucasian. she somehow tried to prove that this was true by throwing into it the fact that the asian girl was teased when she was child because of race and that she had a
white boyfriend. this was tyra's lousy attempt, in my opinion, to somehow "relate". i got especially offended because i also have single eyelids and sometimes i do wish i had double eyelids but it was NEVER because i wanted to be white.
yeah so this comment was longer than i expected but i really wanted to "let it out"
anyway, i love your videos and have fun in vietnam! :D
well first of all i wanna say ur makeup is pretty.
and second, i totally understand u because im mexican-american.. and my parents as well struggled when they came over.. and it really gets me mad when ppl talk w/out prior knowledge of our situation =/
.. well maybe i should be talking about this when i do the video.. cause im really thinking about trying it.. this is a really important topic.. have fun in vietnam!!
I'm still not brave enough to make video responses so I won't be in the contest =) but I am half african american and half mexican and have heard all kinds of racist remarks and let me just tell you that racists are just looking for a reaction...so the best thing to do is ignore them. And if they're sending you messages or comments...it's as simple as blocking them :)
I hope you have A LOT of fun in Vietnam, youtube won't be the same without your smiling face for a while. I guess we'll just have to watch your old videos in the mean time. :)

I know.

Thankss

Its really total ignorance.

combating racism with racism doesnt do anyone any good, so i'd simply say 'my heritage may be disgusting and disgraceful in your eyes, but it's what makes me me and i'm extremely proud. what you see and what i see are different, that's what makes the world go around the way it does. deal with it. also, you've obviously not been taught your manners so i'd go fix that before dictating and lookin down on others...if i were you, and thank god that i'm not.'

It is surprising that you still are nice and all smiling when talking about the racist comments thay you've got recently. I actually think you have dealt with it beautifully. They often call us 'Daygo's are gaybo's'. I usually just give them the finger and tell them us Asians invented Pentium 4 (lol i'm not too clear on this one. but i was told)

It's what's inside that matters
flowerymeadow 3 years ago
I am Chinese and I used to feel insulted whenever people say something about my culture. Now, I just ignore whenever someone says something about my race. I'm proud of my tiny eyes, I'm proud to speak a language other than English, and I'm proud to be who I am. If someone said a racist remark to me, I would just do the unchildish thing and just ignore it, because it doesn't matter. I know who I am, and that's all that really matters to me.
flowerymeadow 3 years ago 2
i am from hk n hv experience living in england and now is now living in sweden. sadly, racisim exists. but i guess what i have learnt is to look back how the ppl in my country treats others (reflection), and learn not to discriminate or stereotype others based on their races/my prejudice. btw, it is always easy for immigrants to associate all unpleasant experiences with discrimination, when sometimes they are not really the case. so in short, i think communication/understanding is the needed.

its sad people act they way they do when it comes to nationalities. My mom was born in cuba. Her & her family left there seeking for a better future & wanting to be free. Unfortunatley people call ALL cubans communists but what they don't realize is they leave for a reason. When i get called something b/c my mom is a "floater" i ignore it & let them make a fool of themselves b/c getting in a fight wont teach them anything, it will just give them what they want. i feel that it's difficult to say something to someone who is racist.

No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.

I think this is a great idea.

One day i was hanging out with one of my frineds, and i was at her house, her bf's friend was over and me and my friend were talking about my boyfriend, witch he is ejyption.. his friend asked me since when do you have a bf? then was like what is he hispanic? i was like no then he was like is he arab,i said he is egyption.. and he called him a sand nigger i was so hurt. i felt so bad.
jjstardust2006 3 years ago
my mom is 50% lebanese (or however you spell it) which would make me and my siblings 25%, and my brother being as stupid as he is will call my mom a dune coon, sand nigger, and rag head... i guess he doesnt realize that he is 25%

hi, now it's the fourth of july and you're probably already half your way to vietnam *envyyou*.
i hope you come back with a lot of pics and vids from your beautiful country :)
i am hyphenated, too, and it makes me a little sad that you're enviromental seems to have brought you to this idea for the contest. i wish, all of us could grow up without experiencing discrimination.
missmarnip 3 years ago
One other thing... why would you want to hear about rasical issues when you want to have a nice trip in Vietnam? It will ruin your trip! So, don't bother watching the feedbacks before you come back. And last of all, have fun and show us your Vietnamese make-up products!!!
nicelogin2 3 years ago

In vanity I am racist.
motleyutube 3 years ago
I can only hope that one day that all racist people just up and drop dead all at the same time. Do you people realize how much better this world would be without such hatred? And through history this country as been at the forefront of racism. Rather embarrassing if you think about it.

i know this is boring...
but whenever i get racist remarks i usually just ignore them, because i realize every time that they're just fags with no lives, and i'm bigger and better than them. i'm asian, and last time i got "slanty-eyed bitch" like jennatrang i said to them, "mmhmm i'm a slanty-eyed bitch. now go fuck yourself." i make sure never to resort to racism in return, because that would make me just as close-minded as the original offender.
xxkisses4u 3 years ago

People are free to hate or love or like what or who they want. . .enjoy your visit to Vietnam, take care be safe.

i'm asian too!
i was born in Hong Kong, but it was part of Britain.. and i've been raised in Canada because that's where i was adopted. So i get quite a few remarks, usually people just sorta think it's as a joke but ya it hurts.. so i know where your coming from. Usually if its not a joke or something i actually tell her person straight up how rude and not funny it is.... hopefully that helps! have a great Independence day! wish you the best

rbred378 3 years ago 2
That makes me really sad that people are posting racist responses. I think it's important not to waste time on racists or dwell on their comments that are intended to make you feel inadequate or unattractive. However, people need to talk constructively about racism, how it manifests, what the history is and what can be done to end it.
Also, I think you should be proud of who you are and what you look like.
Have a good trip!

After we finished our drinks I just held my head high & walked right past them.

hmmm sorry i can't actually make a video but in response to your contest
my friend who has a chinese name once got made fun of by her friend because her name slighly sounded like Bin Laden. my friend took it very seriously and ignored him and distanced herself from him automatically. very soon, the guy felt guilty and apologized many times until she finally forgave him. i think its important to take a stand and treat it as a serious matter as opposed to going along with it.
dbsk06 3 years ago
if a joke has been made relating to your race, you have to show that you are not going to ignore it.
another thing this reminded me of was on the tyra banks show, when an asian girl appeared and talked about her double eyelid surgery. this was especially etched in my mind because i at least before this, had some respect for tyra banks and always saw her as
dbsk06 3 years ago
close to the last person to be racist (although the situation that i am about to describe doesnt exactly make her one. more like it showed how desperate she was to seem like a good talk show host). what basicaly happened was that tyra claimed the asian girl got the double eyelid surgery because she wanted to be more caucasian. she somehow tried to prove that this was true by throwing into it the fact that the asian girl was teased when she was child because of race and that she had a
dbsk06 3 years ago
white boyfriend. this was tyra's lousy attempt, in my opinion, to somehow "relate". i got especially offended because i also have single eyelids and sometimes i do wish i had double eyelids but it was NEVER because i wanted to be white.
yeah so this comment was longer than i expected but i really wanted to "let it out"
anyway, i love your videos and have fun in vietnam! :D
