The first contrabass saxophone ever to play down to Low A which sounds the lowest C on the piano. The baritone saxophone which is an octave higher than the contrabass is the only regular saxophone to be built with a Low A.

actually Semer made the Mk VI alto in a low A version, too. Although they are somewhat rare, they do come up for sale occasionally.

No reeds, just a plank of wood.

Uses standard bari sax reeds. Just like most bass sax mouthpieces. Although using contrabass clarinet reeds makes it sound much better.

most bass sax mouthpieces use bass sax reeds not bari sax reeds. they are pretty easy to find.
