Met Captain in Saltash a couple of years ago, and he denied that he liked trains or had a class 47 named after him. He said 'it's the bass player who likes trains'. Did a stering gig with the Damned at the Livewire later that evening.
Sterling stuff. Love this stretch and the pink sheep on the hillsides. i have not picked up my Ian Allen books for years. I still get a buzz from locos, though. A class 47 named after you, eh? Sterling! I think they were the transition point between old and new diesels. I have some bits of Warships. Some brass pressure gagues etc, i love travelling along this stretch. Hope all is tickerty-boo!
Dr. Beeching annoys a keen cyclist like me. Places I could have easily travelled to on the train, my bike secured in the hold...But the bugger chopped those branches off and I can't tolerate coaches or buses for whatever reasons. Why do these people have to make life so hard for us all?
Hi Capitano, nice tongue in cheek appearence but we know you love trains re; Class 47810 was not an accident., conspiracy theoryies abound! Its all good fun and we love the music too! My mate Mick Taylor hates them but i am working on him slowly. Slide guitar and the rythm of trains all come from the Missisipi blues and there is a connection with bathrooms....I promise..We love Dawlish and dont know who started that drunkeness stuff mentioned Re:Hamburg Haupbahnhof but were involved. FDM
Not that i think it matters any, but i never figured the 'peter pan of punk' was a trainspotter. (i hope nobody steals my patented 'ppop'joke, its mine, all mine!)
Ah fuck, its so good that it should be out in the public domain, If you see him just let the captain know the little ginger bloke at the 'Ruts film gig told you!
Hey Cap'n - are you following me? I've just been to the Hopped-Bahnhof in Hamburg and been through Dawlish on the way to Truro. Another great place (Dawlish that is, not that Truro's too bad either).
Who'd have thought the Captain liked trains as well. Kudos to you. Oh and by the way, if you can put together a new version of Croydon for me, that would be fab. I sing the song to this very day, usually when cleaning out my rabbit. (every other day)
Brings back memories of traveling down to Plymouth for Holidays as a young lad during the late 60's. Corridor coaches and pull down windows. A magical ride from Exeter onwards.
I now live in Baltimore Maryland. Ever been to the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum? Worth checking out if your ever in the neighborhood.
Captain - you make me proud to be a 'train enthusiast'. To me Trainspotting is one of the most punk rock hobbies you can have - f**k the Mohican, get a note book & pen then bash some railways and *really* get to see our wonderful land (whilst listening to you lot/The Clash/Toy Dolls/Etc on your mp3 player, natch).
BTW - I love Dawlish too, but I bring my own cider (I'm from Somerset, and that Devon stuff tastes like kak to us).
I love your music :-)

I definitely won't steal your PPOP, but I'd like to say that I consider it rather brilliant!
