@Kirilicar remember that you should choose for swimming or staying the parts of the island that face the open sea.i stayed at ag.nikitas at some rooms to let.everything was near.i visited nydri(which faces mainland greece) 2 nights.it was great for nightwalk and nightlife.but i think the sea there is not as blue as in the western parts of the island.anyway you ll have a great time whatever you choose.i ve been to many islands (i am greek) but lefkada was pure magic......

@pargaluvva you have to go to the other side of the island to sea these beaches.when u enter the main city of lefkas which is at entrance of the island turn right instead of left and head for Agios Nikitas village instead of Nidri.

Visited Nidri last September. Fantastic town if you're a boaty type but not much else to occupy your time with so we hired a car for the week and went off and explored the island. (sorry to the old guy on the moped I cut up at the island of death in Lefkada town ) A painfully beautiful island but with an unwelcoming feeling about it. Then again with the austerity measures in place it's not a surprise that many Greeks aren't feeling particularly friendly or happy at the moment.

How can you spend 2 weeks in such a small island and miss those endless beaches?

@pargaluvva - from the other side of the iseland :) ....but 2 rich it...u need...2 climb down and up from 100 to 350 steps lol ...we were dead after, but i adore this place more than other else :)

Όμως θα μου επιτρέψεις μια παρατήρηση. Έπρεπε να τηρήσεις την ίδια δεοντολογία και για τις πανέμορφες φωτογραφίες που άντλησες από το Panoramio, όπως πολύ σωστά την τήρησες για την υπέροχη μουσική της Ευανθίας Ρεμπούτσικα...

Πάντως και πάλι συγχαρητήρια...

I've just returned from my first Nidri vacation (there will be much more, hopefully) and must say that you are absolutely right - Pure Beauty Lefkada island is :-) Such a beautiful nature, unforgettable beaches, interesting towns and villages also very kind people, delicious food, ouzo ... my list could be endless. For me the most beautiful greek island..still authentic.;anyway the views on the westcoast are breathtaking.

Spent holidays there 2 weeks ago for the second time. Still in love with Kalamitsi, Egremni, Milos and Porto Katsiki..

Just ran away from the Eastcoast..far too much tourism..

lefkada is the most beautiful island I have been to in my whole life ... I spent this august there and was stunned by the beauty and diversity, as well as picturesque old villages. I fell in love with this island and will keep coming back :)
