@tobi21PL Besides Dragon Age was inspired by two games mostly. Baldurs Gate and Gothic. They wanted to do a mix of these two and Dragon Age was the result.
@EricTheRed03 I don't know what you are looking for but Jeremy Soule does excellent orchestral video game soundtracks. TES III: Morrowind, Icewind Dale and Knights of the Old Republic are good examples.
Despite these two objections BG2 is probably the greatest game ever. But why oh why did you fix what wasn't even broken ? It will always be a mystery to me, even if I'm told the answer. Strange decisions.
Objection number two (and this is aimed at all the post-BG1 IE games) : where's the freedom in the maps ? In BG1 you could wander off in the wilderness if you wanted to, avoiding the stressfulness of the main quest and picking up some loot and XP at the same time. You couldn't do that in BG2. This pissed me off quite a lot. Bad decision by Bioware / Black Isle - what were you thinking of ?
This is my favourite game of all time (I think), but it still deserves criticism for what was wrong with it compared with BG1. It only had 16 NPCs which could join you party, compared with 24 (I elsewhere said 22 - twit), in the original game. And the manual tells you about them all before you've started playing the game. That was a major disappointment for me. That's objection number one.
Inquisitor of course, immunity to charm and hold, plus the entire dispel magic capabilities with the Holy Avenger is like playing the game on god mode.
Berserker for me. You get all the heavy-armoured super-weapon-skilled goodness of a fighter, plus barbarian-style rage and immunity to mind attacks and extra HP (while raging).
Then you dual into a mage, kit yourself with the Asylferund chain in TOB and you can nuke 'em all and let the trusty ol' Zweihander mop up the survivors. Woohoo!
This is what games nowadays are missing.. especially in the MMO department: Memorable music. The latest game I have experienced that had memorable music was Everquest 1. That was a long time ago.
I Always get a chill when I havn't heard this theme in a while, its just stunning. Why can't All games be this epic.. guess it would just be too much.
I'd like more Games with Infinity-Engine (of course updated and stuff like that). I love Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale. Those games are great and I'd be happy about more of games like that.
I understand you don't read deeply into anything; however, you should not expect people to spell things out for you. When I think if Baldurs Gate I think of instances when I was playing it and the music reminds me of them, it is call memory by association. Have you ever tried reading a book and listing to one album the entire time, the next time you hear the songs the entire memory of the book will come flooding back to you.

It's a shame that RPG's aren't like BG anymore, instead we have Morrowind and Oblivion... Ugh...
Galdhon 3 years ago 2
Morrowind was really fun, though I do think BG was so epic that it's almost impossible to recreate.

It's impossible... for me its impossible.
