  • Beautiful! Bellissimo!!!! Thanks!!!!

  • Wow...these guys are pretty good! Had never heard of them or this song until Pandora kicked it out at me.

  • High compliment indeed -- for Bruce and Mike.

  • His voice reminds me of a cross between Springsteen and Michael Stipe. Very good.

  • Possibly one of the best songs ever written.

  • It was at the Orange Peel in Asheville, NC and I was there!

  • Me too. :)

  • Anyone know where this came from? Its a newer live version with current line up. Is there more available?

  • It's from their concert DVD, "6 String Belief", very available on Amazon, Netflix, etc etc.

    Cheers.

  • unfortunately no... though this is one of their weaker songs

  • One of their weaker songs? You really think so? This has always been one of my favorites.

  • Asheville, NC 2005, September-ish. Went to this show but for some reason wasn't feeling it. Maybe it was the cameras, the people who couldn't decide whether to come in or get the fuck out. Watched the DVD and loved, but I left this show early. Maybe I just missed the Boquist bros, but Duplantis and Bryso have grown on me since.

  • I agree about the voice. The Tweedy comparisons will never go away and this is one area where Jay has him beat. There aren't many more distinctive voices in rock. I saw Son Volt 11 years ago and I've seen Jay solo. These songs represent will live and his voice is terrific. See him (them) when you can.

  • I've seen both Wilco and Jay solo and whilst Jeff Tweedy is one of the best live vocalist i've seen Jay is just that little bit better.

  • @jamiethomaslane Jeff keeps getting better though... he's going to be one hell of a 60-year-old singer.

  • Jay Farrar is one of America's great singer songwriters. I don't think he has written a song I don't like. I just wish I could sing like him. I've tried to do a few of his songs and he just has a voice that is hard to duplicate.

  • The CD is "Trace"

  • Just another great tune from a more than great CD,"Drown."

The mixture of country, Country rock, and grinding guitars on some songs,(having been compared to Neil Young,) may have confused some(me) of the listeners back in the mid 90's, but like all timeless songs, some take time to, "Grow on you."

Like the song, "find the pieces don't fit in," "comin' up for air, again and again," anyone who has any liking for this song, I believe will love the mixture of sounds on the CD.

    Thanks.

  • love this song...jay sounds amazing....

too much living is no way to die....

  • Song is simply gorgeous. Glad you uploaded, 'cause I've been looking for it quite awhile. Probably my favorite out of their entire repertoire. <3

  • Yep. I agree. Mine too.
