  • really. That is nuts.Where are those caliber bands now?

  • QUE BELLA COSA, BAMBINO!!!!

  • Kind of a bummer Glenn's vigourous bass solo gets drowned out by an overly *Ian* focused audience.

  • What a madman! Or should I say Genius madman

  • 6:09 WHAT A FUCK?????????

  • this is a sexy fucking recording

  • Splendido!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think they're in the Baroque ' n' roll hall of fame

  • @goo2u MAGNIFICO!!!!!

  • @goo2u Right dude ;) I've said the same thing lol

  • @green3825 'cause they are in the baroque hall of fame.

  • please like my page on facebook to get jethro tull inducted into the r&r hall of fame

  • Good Stuff

  • I'm a 51 year old fart, with half a century of feet on this ground and at every important step in my life, there it was Ian Anderson with his band...gotta love them.

  • Ian Anderson is indeed a musical genius who could sell the classical sound of Bach to the Rock n Roll crowd. Incredible to say the least.

  • Jesus!, a long time since I didn't hear this song, an absolute masterpiece!

  • @Antares070 mmmmmm,,no exageramos un poco?

  • Moarscooby:

I don't think it was Ian, but the crowd.

How could you you not cheer after a solo like that?

  • Oh God I'm Gittn old ,this never sounded so good, thanks for this my God....

  • Ian Anderson reminds me medieval period classes

  • It's great to hear a rock band cover this 300 year old tune. I wonder if all the hundreds of thousands of shredders worldwide, could even collectively come up with a tune that lasts for another three hundred years, like this beautiful tune from Johann Sebastian Bach???

Sadly, I very much doubt it...

  • Loved how I-an Anderson cut off Glenn cornick's legendary bass solo....

  • Stevie Ray Vaughan/Hendrix/David Gilmour/Jimmy Page/Keith Richards made me want to pick up guitar.

Miles Davis/Louis Armstrong make me want to pick up trumpet

Now Ian Anderson makes me want to take up flute. Words i never thought i'd say

You know your somethings special when you have that sort of influence

  • @avp010994 Listen to the Firebird Suite by Stravinsky and you'll want to pick up the bassoon next.

  • @avp010994 Last night, I broke in my new keyboard's Flute sound. Being as drunk as I was, I actually could very briefly, close my eyes and imagine the greatness Ian conjours up.

  • jethro tull were centuries ahead of others

  • Martin Barre wants to be Ian Anderson

  • Bach lo habría aplaudido, eso seguro, Bach would have applauded, for sure.

  • Esto es impresionante! me quede sin palabras! GRANDES!!!

  • like the pretty flute

  • what a live.. what a song... what a groove bass slap!! one of my favourite songs ever!!

  • Maaaaaaf!!!!! .... das Bach!!!!! :-)

  • They are unique. Long live to Ian

  • i'd pay to have my girlfriend blowing my pipe that way!!!

  • Music from a past life!!!

    Excellent clip : )

  • merci !!! beaucoup !!!

  • Mr. Bach would be proud.

  • I wonder what the croud thought about the camera man

  • I grew up with my Dad playing Tull all the time, and now every time I listen to this it gives me a warm feeling inside :)

  • Jethro Tull was for me the iniciation inside of music and the misterys of the metal flute in 80's. I see in live in Gava, Barcelona 2 weeks ago and is the same Ian Anderson like 30 years ago whit less hairs. The best for you Ian.

  • Première fois que je vois une version live de Bouree.

  • Green3825...Go figure, Yes has had how many hits? And Jethro too , who ever made that mistake should be in the hall of shame! WFMorons!

  • great video! This is history!

  • And playing flute with such a mustache ain't that easy either!

  • With the exception of Yes, prog rock at it's best.

  • @green3825 Can you believe Yes and Tull are not in the rock and roll hall of fame? That's insane!

  • @jethrodassam hall of FAME. yes a tull were not nearly as famous as many other bands, and their fame has not been sustained by new generations as much as other bands have had.

  • @fartbarfunkel They were very famous. How old are you? Their incredible music should land them in the Hall of Fame. There are plenty of bands in there that don't belong. Sly and the Family Stone? Oh please.

  • @fartbarfunkel they are timeless!!

  • @MsLibramoon check back in a hundred years why dont you

  • @jethrodassam who gives a fuck about thay !!! we all know they deserve more than this "rock and roll hall of fame"

  • @jethrodassam They deserve a hall of fame unto themselves. The tull of fame?

  • @meowandmeow Love it! They should, since nobody else is even in their league :)

  • @jethrodassam Absolutely INSANE

  • @jethrodassam

Actually, what "they" call "R&B" or "R&R", are bullshit like Gaga, Black fucked peas, or Justin Beaver!

The world of "music" is out, only what "majors" feed you with !

Hurray for JT and lot of that time musician and composers (even Lennon, I sincerely hate; RIP)....

  • @jethrodassam

Yes... There should be a progressive music hall of fame. They'd fit in much better.

  • @ROFLmao35216 I couldn't agree more. They need their own category.

  • @jethrodassam Just goes to show you there's no accounting for taste!! Bet some snot-sniveller like Justin Beiber gets in..

  • @jethrodassam That is insane, actually.

  • @jethrodassam and there are bands like Metallica and Guns 'n' roses in. What a shame...

  • @jethrodassam Well that's not going to stop us loving them will it? :-)

  • @jethrodassam You`re right. but then : fuck the "hall of fame". They are in OUR hall of fame and thats what matters. they were my first favorite band and i saw them live twice in 78/79. my first concerts ! Later i moved to punk, then independent, today i listen mainly to electronics, but they never left that special place in my heart. They are way too cool to care about this shitty hall. but dont get me wrong : i love you for raising the question. Cheers from Germany !!

  • @StanTheDog57 Ich sehe das auch so. Habe sie erst 1989 kennengelernt mit 18 und habe mir dann nach und nach alle Alben besorgt. Für mich bis heute eine der einzigartigsten Bands aller Zeiten.

  • @jethrodassam don't forget Deep Purple... They're out too. Go figure!

  • @green3825 Jethro tull didnt considered themselves a prog rock band till the album thick as a brick

  • @martin2sax Doesn't matter. They were progressive. I mean come on...a flute in a rock band? You wouldn't recognize Mr. Anderson today if he fell on you. A highly intelligent and progressive man. He's the b*lls.

  • @green3825 Yes im completely agree with you, it was just a fact

  • @green3825 I totally agree

  • There is an innocence here we will never recover.

  • @eyeshighfly :-)

  • Genius !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'll be in the "gallery" when the "mintstrel" performs in So. Cal next month. Many shows since the 70's...never dissapointed!

  • this sounds really good, but the flute player looks like quite the jester when he plays

  • Comment removed

  • @pwj2113 I think it's quite funny that you said that and it makes me feel old for knowing what's going on

  • love your chanel, keep up the good work =)

  • est il trop tard pour qu il vienne en Aquitaine ??? BORDEAUX POITIERS ANGOULEME. merci

  • Beautiful !! Excellent solos. A truly magical tune; thnx 4 posting !!!

  • Ian has always brought it on. Awesome talent.

  • cool !

  • Nice!

  • What should I say, a true Masterpiece

  • dig the headband man...

  • Sublime ...

  • I think the crowd just got caught up in Ian Anderson crazy way of playing the flute..Ian was upset at them cheering because he gesture over to Glenn for the crowd to listen to Glenn...just saying

  • woah! i like his pants!

  • ahahahah è un matto, ma cazzo la musica ce l'ha dentro!

  • Grandissimi!

Stupenda versione, grande performance del mitico Ian Anderson!

    Estasi musicale!!!

  • Vraiment impressionnant !

  • Amazing * - *

    Sweet version!

  • does this count as Third Stream? (jazz/classical fusion). For some reason, i could imagine Dave Brubeck incorporating this into his set

  • never will i doubt the power of the flute ever again......

  • dude, its AMAZING

    Jethro Tull is really Wonderfull

  • This is an awesome version! I've never seen it! At first I thought that they had overdubbed the flutes on it...only to see at about the 1:00 mark Martin Barre playing along with Ian! Great!

  • and they booed John Coltrane...

  • Another delight from You Tube. Thanks for uploading.

  • Unique flute, unique persona, unique show.

  • classical melody ok..the jazz improv is what makes this great.

  • oh god the bassist miss a voice at 4:44 :S

    It would be perfect.

    Anyway, still awesome.

  • Bach on acid!

  • @jveltman12 Neither Bach nor Ian Anderson did acid.

  • @mjt1517 True in fact Anderson was, and I assume still is very anti drug.

  • importamt what this song is that starts with an introduction Baroque Ian gives her unique style and is certainly the most important part is the solo electric bass but still is a good song

thanks for uploading your video a hug greetings from Peru

  • fucking god

  • he's a priate!

  • WYUWYUYWUWYUWYUWYUUUUUUUUUU

  • A rocking and roll flute, WTF! Cool, cool, cool!!

  • Ian Anderson - simply, poor; Minstrell Meister!

  • Britanya'lı rocker'lar: (Ozan) Ian Anderson ve grubu JETHRO TULL; bu kez Bouree üzerine flüt emprovizasyonları...

  • Agree with the bass solo thing. I'm a flute player and a guitar player myself, but I teach myself guitar riffs I love, including bass riffs, and the whole bass line for this song is gorgeous. I adore playing the bass solo, especially when I can use someone else's bass for it. XD

  • early

  • I like the Coke face he puts after the flute solo, hilarious.

  • How can 1 person dislike this

  • This Song is amazing it gives you a Feeling that you Never ever had

  • Glen Cornick on EB3 bass sounds great - liked him on Thunderbird too, but this has a bit more definition to the sound - lovely - the single pick up TBird was a bit of a bruiser!

This early incarnation of the band was definitely the best IMHO

  • amazing

  • I'd never seen this clip before. Thanks for posting it!

  • Coolest tune on the planet.

  • martin barre tocando la flauta???

     muy bueno el video

  • Distortion on mike spoils flute

  • @jezkn makes it sounds like a bamboo flute. and those don't sound to good on these older mics...

  • @canadianspwn11 Yeeh - yr right - still pretty amazing though-not heard Martin Barre on flute before either. I played flute in1967 ish when I first heard this - could play Bouree theme but then my troubles started! (used to produce more spit than polish!)_ Hasnt he got an elegant turn of ankle at. 0.35, 1.40, 2.15, 2.38 etc Hope he hasnt got varicose veins now as a consequence! Pity aboout walking bass solo - it is utterly brilliant isn't it and then with the flute

  • @MrMeddled I don't think any of that is true! BTW, back then Anderson was just an average Flutist but now he has developed into quite a virtuoso on the instrument.

  • @MrMeddled gtfo loser.

  • Gran version y video..gracias por subirlo..desde Chile

  • @MrMeddled i will agree that the bass solo was ruined in this performance, which is a great shame, but Ian Anderson is a great musician and singer never the less. now if he was megalomanic and narcisistic i don't know, but it's not entirely his fault that the bass solo was ignored.

  • Dögös zseni!

  • Where was this one recorded????

Cool one but a lot extravagant for Bach, but in the end he would've loved it...

  • To think this is originally a piece by Bach. I wonder what the old man would think of this version.

  • He would probably like it. My guess. ;-)

  • wow martin barre is a genius!

  • I love the sound he makes: "chadada" xD

  • Awesome. Tull were massive then. You can understand why, a year later, Tull were last on before Hendrix at the Isle of Wight festival in 1970 infront of 600,000.

  • This man is fantastic! (Bach also)

  • this guy is da man, hes a beast, lol but he is awesome at playing this!!!

  • Man this is an awesome song. First time I heard Bouree was on their 2003 Christmas Album cd. I never knew until this hour, that he has done this song for more than forty years. Amazing then and amazing now!

  • It's just great to see and hear this. Thanx.

  • in the seventies, playing the flute was cool......

it was a wonderfully strange time................

  • It still is

  • UNBAAALEEEEVABLE ! ! ! !

  • primera vez que veo el video de este tema desde que lo escuche por primera vez en 1970, en mi radio am, programa Alto Voltaje, radio Chilena. En esos años escuchar este tema era casi una experiencia religiosa.

  • What did they play at the beginning of the video ?

    I love that

  • Zarpado este video loco!! Quizá uno de los mejores momentos de Jethro.

  • Martin tocaba la flauta antes de tocar la guitarra, de hecho.

  • Noooooooo! Anche Martin col flauto... Non ci creo!

  • crowd had ruined everything!

  • this is the man, this is the tune, inspired my life - fantastic

  • The idiots in the crowd cheered after the flute solo drowning out the bass solo, the, IMO, best part of the song. (I'm a bass player).

  • I totally agree with your opinion, flute piece is amazing, but bass solo, and whole bass part are what make this song wonderful. (Me too)

  • LOL LOL LOL LOL

Yeah, the solo is wonderful, the whole song is amazing... but telling that the solo is the best part of the song is like telling... I don't know... that the best part of a sandwich is the bread instead the ingredients in the middle, I don't know, something like that.

(sorry if there's any mistake, I'm just learning English)

  • Not to me because I'm a bass player and Glen Cornick was a big influence on me (especially the bass part in this song which I memorized long ago. Using the sandwich analogy I say the best part of this sandwich is the meat. :-)

  • Shame the bass wasn't heard, that's for sure.

However, correct me if I'm wrong, that's Jeffrey over there with the bass, not Cornick, I think? Isn't it?

  • @CarrickCelt I am 100% sure that is Glen Cornick. First of all it looks like him. Second this is 1969 and Cornick left in 1970 after the Benefit album..

  • It's Glen Cornick on the bass, Carrick Celt. Jeffrey took over from him only by the time of the Aqualang album, about three years later. In 1969 Jeffrey was a close friend to Ian and hung out with the band but didn't even play an instrument. Take care!

  • Well I'm a flute player so I may not agree LOL

    It's all great ;-)

  • I wouldn't have liked it if they cheered during the Flute solo either. Sometimes crowds can be very rude. Polite applause the way Jazz fans do it would be better holding the cheers for the end..

  • @tbcass you dont listen to jethro tull for the bass but a good bass solo is awesome

  • @zombiemash88 Maybe you don't but I do. I'm a bass player and it's a big thing I listen to in music. Glenn Cornick was an excellent bassist.

  • @tbcass I actually agree, without that bass solo I actually think that the song is missing something -.-. I was actually upset too, even though I'm a guitar player. That's why I don't like when people clap before the actual song -.-.

  • @tbcass ... plus one

  • @tbcass

  • @tbcass I too am a Bass player...Bass Players RULE! :) I love to play that solo on

    this song.

  • @tbcass Well, I learn to play the flute, but You are right, this is a hard bass solo, rude think the cheer in the middle...

  • @tbcass The cheering that we heard almost sounds superimposed on this clip. Either they used entirely crappy mics for the audience, or it was added in post-production. There was applause, obviously, but it doesn't sound quite right. So in the live experience, it may not have been that obnoxious. Or who knows? Maybe it was.

  • Comment removed

  • @tbcass You can see Ian very irritated when the audience kill the bass solo. Poor Glenn just skips it when it becomes impossible to goes on w

    ith it.

  • @tbcass ~ You could tell Ian Anderson was irritated with the applause making the bass solo impossible. It was a very important part of it, the counter point of the bass and the flute is what makes the thing work. I wish they could have gotten a clip of them doing it the way they rehearsed it.

  • @tbcass Yeah,I agree, you took the words from my mouth.
