  • superb.

  • I have tears in my eyes.

  • WOW!!! Just amazing!!!

  • uohhhh precioso!!!

  • My Dad Wanted Me To Learn This His Way ... But I Tried ... But I Can't So I Made It My Way ... And I Think It Sounds Really Great ...

  • love it!

  • WOW MAN

  • Great playing, realy beautiful.

  • open d is a great tuning for a lot of different styles: this sort of thing is obviously great with the right player, and classic blues/slide also ring well with this tuning. It takes some getting used to, but is versatile if you have faith in your left hand and in your guitar. Slide is not for every left hand or every guitar setup!

  • This is one of my most favorite songs! I didn't realize that I could love this song anymore than I already do but, you showed me I can! Really stunning job! Congratulations!

  • Brilliant! Open D - I would never try it without seeing your video. How about adding a slide? You inspired me. Thank you.

  • Great music, great talent, Stonewort. Thnx.

  • i think you should lower the melody one octave, it would sound better in my opinion

  • love it !!!

  • Very Cool.

I like the "glasses adjustment" you do near the end of the song. (without missing a lick).

I often come to this link to hear this song (and your arraangement) and get inspired.

PS - Try a "capo". I find this often "mellows" the sound.

  • Wow! Very enjoyable!!!

  • Wonderful harmonies and never losing sight of the musical idea. Managing to unite the genres with pnache. Well done indeed.

  • Very nice arrangement Stonewort!! keep playing and posting more music.......

  • Thats a great rendition of that song. spot on man. loved it !

  • lovely. Well plaid.

  • the tuning may be easy but that sounds frickin hard to play

  • Exquisite - really fine playing!

  • I love it. I play but I haven't tried alternate tunings. Do you know where I can get more info as that could really broaden may capabilities.

  • good shit.

  • Wow! Thank you for sharing your talent!

  • beautiful. brings a tear to my eye - especially where you slide up on the 'birds fly over' part

  • u have opened up a new dimension sir. I have been playing in open d for a while. I think that you are absoutely great. I hope to learn more from you if you post anymore work. Thanks

  • Good job!

Just started practicing in Open D myself... I've tried it out a couple times but got a little scared of losing my string tension, but I broke into new grounds today so I'm pretty excited!

    KEEP IT UP

  • It would be great if you could re-record this to show both hands in action for us that are talent challenged.

  • wow ur amazing!

    wish i could play that

thank u for putting this video on her

  • wow, good stuff. If you will send me the chords, I can post them online for you!

  • wow very nice :o

  • i need to get the sheet music for this...

  • Beautifully done my man!

  • 21 thousand hits and rising . Not surprised after watching video. Great arrangement. Up tempo version works so well. Inspired.

  • Nice man, I really enjoyed this! Just bought a second guitar so I can leave one in alternate tunings. I'll be workin on this song when I get a chance. Fantastic! Thanx for sharing. Keep em comin'

  • why in the hell do you need a second guitar to do that. return it, you can do that with just one guitar.

  • you'll understand once you start playing in alternate tunings for yourself...

  • I do understand. With alternate tunings like Open A, you have to tune the strings up which can put undue pressure on the neck. But with others, like Open D, you're tuning them down tones and semitones which doesn't put pressure. So yes i do understand, but what i don't understand is the need for a second guitar unless you have trouble tuning in Open D.

  • Hi

You are truly an awesome musician !!!!!

    Come check my stuff to......

    Ciao for Now.....

    VESTRO

  • that'S cool man!! i love it! 5 stars!

  • i think you are amazing!

  • Awesome. That sounds really good

  • Great playing very creative use of open D. ITs not drop D its DADF#AD which is also used for slide guitar playing

  • Ohhhh... I cee I ceee..... Sowry, comps screen to brain transmission is sorta addled.

  • Cmon la machaaa.... Teach me how to do drop D.... Gimme tabs...

  • Sorry. I don't do tabs--don't know how and it looks like too much work....

  • Owhhh... No probs, got the chords though? Or notes? Or any guides on how to play that so superbly?

  • @ashwinrk92 I must assume by this time you have learned how to tune to drop D, but if not, and for anyone else, you tune your low E string to a D. The easiest way is obviously with a tuner, but short of that I pluck both my low E and D strings and detune my E until I can't hear any oscillation in tone between the two strings. Either way, your low E drops a whole step. Although this song is in open D, so the whole drop D conversation is unnecessary here.

  • very beautiful, thanks;

    HOBOSEAN

  • great playing, I guess I will need much more practice before learning that from you

    great sound

  • Now thats the guitar "singing". It is amazningly beautiful

  • I WANT THE TABS! Teach me how to drop D, man! PLEASE!!!

  • wow u are damn damn damn GOOD

  • its not hard in open d figure it out

  • Pleaseee!! DO you have the tabs or classical partiture?? I need it!! I'm fall in love to this guitar song!!

    Thanks a lot, really ;D

  • where the hell did you learn those tabs from, that was amazing.

  • Awesome!!!

  • I see you must have asked the Wizard to pull some guitar talent out of his old black bag for you. That is a very good & groovy cool guitar rendition. Two thumbs up.

  • you should tab this?

    this is really amazing

  • Well then WTF is it?

  • Have you ever tabbed this?

If so, I'd really love to get a copy.

  • great arrangement , very rythmic and lively

  • absolutely love it...... !!!

  • Excellent job

  • GARBAGE! joking of course, liked it, i used altered tuning for the first time last night and today and i usually dont finger pick but thought i needed to up my game somewhat another string to the bow an all that anyway, my fingers are now blistered to buggery! thats a good sign right?

  • wow, at the 1:00 mark that chord you play is amazing

  • beutiful

  • Beautiful!

  • Beautiful! But you don't necessarily make "easy-to-play open-D tuning" look all that simple at all.

  • Love your version, very rythmic and lyrical, have to give this a try...simply superb!

  • Masterful, absolutely masterful. I've heard 2 or 3 versions of this done on an acoustic, but this one casptures the spirit of the tune quite nicely. Nice touch with the harmonic at the end.

  • Love this version of a classic.Cheers.

  • Love it :) Very well played, mate :)

  • im gonna go practice right now. It will probably take me forever to figure that one out.

  • rock on, that is wonderful

  • Super playing & lovely Taylor what a combo! You Rule!

  • Very Beautiful, What kind of Guitar is that, awesome sounds

  • Thanks for the comment. The guitar is a Taylor 815c. It's my "new" guitar, meaning the last guitar I bought, an event that happened in 1996.

  • Nice version. Thanks for teaching it to me. I did it a little differently.

  • Hey, I just listened to your version.... very nice indeed. I'll have to study yours now....

  • what's a crative tuning!

  • It took me about 20 years, but lots of people get better than me in far less time than that....

  • man that was class, how long does it take to get that good at guitar?

  • Wonderfull ! I love it

  • I found a bunch of you. Enjoyed them all. Brings back memories of my dad and mom and us playing and singing on the back porch of the farm on a hot summer night. He could play fiddle, banjo and guitar and mom accordion. Still thoroughly enjoy good playing of these instruments.

  • Hm, whats your right hand doin, I cant seem to get the fingerpicking pattern right...

  • I don't know why...but the bass notes remind me of "Going to California" Prolly because it's in D =P Anyways...terrific job, I really did enjoy it

  • Excellent. I really enjoyed that. Made me feel quite inspired actually.

  • That is beautiful... I could listen to it all day.

  • Thanks for the nice comment. Fact is, I haven't played this tune for anyone in years. It's great fun to be able to share it on YouTube....

  • SO cool to see my ol' buddy playing a song from the land of OZ or is it Ahhhhs...Awesome Dude! Seriously, very good.

  • Thanks! One of my absolute favorites! And to think, they almost didn't include this classic in "The Wizard of Oz." Great job!
