Really awesome movie - not that scary at all but still great. Ellen Burstyn and Linda Blair showed phenomenal acting. They both deserved the Oscar. I still think that the 70's had the greatest Horror films - this one, Halloween, Alien, Carrie, Black Christmas, Dawn of the Dead, Jaws, Amityville Horror, Asylum, The Wicker Man, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Horror Express, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Piranha, Shivers, The Crazies, Sisters.......to name a few
In 1986, she had her own ABC television situation comedy, The Ellen Burstyn Show costarring Megan Mullally as her daughter and Elaine Stritch as her mother;
She wrote a lot in her autobiography about the havoc that occurred when making the movie, and how there were a number of accidents and some deaths. She felt that there was an evil aura surrounding the project and was relieved when it was over.
@ytcarol It is about demonic. I believe they exist. So it is no surprise that was the case. There probably *was* an evil aura about it just due to the subject matter.
Those Frenchmen love their demonic possession films.

I remember it. She played a college professor> Didn't last. They said it was too sophisticated for its time. Our loss.
