Tried to convince the wife that it was an investment, didn't float. IMO the Geddy has the most stable bottom end for slapping out of any bass I've ever played on. The Squire Jazz (~$400) sounded similar at the bottom, but it's no match for the high stuff on the top where you want to get more melodic.

@69erthx1138 Haha unlucky there :P I love the sound it makes when I'm slapping (although I'm not great at the moment I only know about 3-4 riffs haha) and just general plucking sounds amazing (I'm in a band so it's amazing for that :D)
Yeah its a 1999 Music Man Stingray made in California. Love the snappy tone and feel of the neck . Wyould love a Fender Jazz bass at some pojnt in future too. Maple neck! Marcus Miller tone
funny im noticing a trend... every bass player with any tallent sports a fender. MAYBE ITS JUST ME. but i im pretty sure the only gibson bass thats worth crap is the firebird... and even that one just because it looks cool.
but fender bass' are fantastic.... and gibsons ones just dont feel right.... the thunderbird is okay mainly because it looks cool and sounds REALY LOUD ;) witch all basists like :) But its a right bugger to play..... its like a boat oar
How do you do that really quick triple slap? just really twitchy or is it an up-down thing like Wooten does? I've been trying to figure that one out for a while now
Oh man that was awesome I hope I can play my bass like that someday I barely bought it this week but my pinky and ring fingers are weak. You sound good man! =D

Played this lick on the Geddy Lee Jazz bass at Sam Ash, think it sounded better on that bass than the Marcus Miller.

if thats supposed to be love games, that a lot of improv. right key though but you are missing a lot of notes. still a good job and great tone.

its right thumb-left fingers slap-right thumb-then finger pop. the left fingers are the hard part to get the tone you want.

haha sweet man, thanks

@sgomez858 Just a short question: What Strings and especially what gauge are you using? Ah yeah, how about your action? High/low?
Great playing by the way.

@punkextremist the technique is called machine gunning, pretty easy when you practice it
