@InterCity82 Oh okay. I wonder if its because most of the people I know who had problems put the blu-tack underneath the sleepers as apposed to on top as you are doing on here. Thanks for the reply :)
@KinletHallsthebest - lol, as the layout is only for fun and something to just run trains on I don't mind the blobs of blue everywhere actually. You kinda not notice them after a bit.
@samster412 - a proper layout is under construction. This is just a temporary one for fun and to experiment with. As well as run trains on. Videos of the proper layout will come when I'm ready to upload them.
instead of putting it on top of the sleepers really squash it down under the track then it would look better for the time being lol blu tack to the rescue olololo
@mongoosekid14 - if it's under the track, it lifts the track up, and the entire layout would be bumpy. I really don't mind how it looks to be honest as it's only a temporary layout and it's the trains I'm more interested in.
you my friend, are an abserlute genies i have to set my layout upthe put it away in the front living room and it keeps getting knoked apart by everyone else and pulled away by trains. ledgend
Thanks for the tip! You could even, if your willing enough, paint the blu-tack black, or the same color as the sleepers, so it would just a bit less obvious if you use that technique for a professional layout.
thanks for this ime gona use this o n mine when i start to get it back up because if you nail it and you want to move it then youll have to unscrew all of it then there will be holes in baseboard
I suppose you could always put a bit of ballast ot even paint over the blue tack in order to try and blend it in with the track, I'm going to build a layout on the floor as I find it removes the need for baseboards and complex building work, I just want to lay track and run trains
I keep hearing about Blu Tac to install decoders and now track. It looks like a very versatile product. I've never seen it here in the USA. Does anyone know what the product is called over here? Thanks. And I love your reviews. I'm learning about OO and which locos are good runners and which aren't so good. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for the feedback! :) I promise to keep the vids coming and to make them as well as you say I am, if not better!
Blu-tac is a brand name for tacky adhesive. There's also 'White-tac', which you can get in the USA, and is white, funnily enough. But I'm sure you could find it in your local stationary store or hardware store.
If you have any trouble finding any let me know and I'll ship some over to you!
Hi intercity..Can you build on top of a trakmat or is it purely for asthetical reasons? probably a real stupid question but i thought I'd ask..Thanks..
yeah you can build on it no problem. Just make sure it's properly secured first, with tacs and glue. I haven't done one myself but have seen lots of people's layouts that have been made over the top of one. There are 2 in circulation, and both are fine.
it really works! granted, it's only temporary - but it's better than a) the track moving about all over the place or b) hammering tacs into the conservatory floor! lol
is there blu-tack avilabale in india?

calumc604 4 months ago
@calumc604 - if you were putting down ballast then you would not use blue-tac really, you'd use proper track pins.
InterCity82 4 months ago
@InterCity82 okay thanks

I've heard this can damage the sleepers over time, causing them to bend, snap etc.
Have you ever had any problems?
Btw, your temporary layouts ace. Great job on the sidings and stuff. Can't wait to see your new layout.
12yearoldNFSMWDK 5 months ago
@12yearoldNFSMWDK - I've been using blu-tack on the temporary layout now for about 2 years and have had no problems so far.
