  • I'm a street shooter and this guy has no bedside manner and has been covering up the fights he's been in for years now. Asshole.

  • @11xzxzxz I agree. Street photography should be a social thing. You should talk to people, if they want to talk to you. Engage with your subject. Bruce Gilden is aggressive and offensive.

  • @Moleskineman Thanks - one other reasonably sensitive, rational guy on YTube. Good luck. And keep playing your fine bass.

  • This guy is a great photographer. I wish I could be as brave as he is and take photos half as cool as his.

  • surprised that people don't get upset with him. Here in Texas I've tried street photo and almost always get the hate look

  • @ognistik Probably 'cause you're in Texas. Go to somewhere like NY and people probably won't notice unless you're in their face.

  • Pompous Ass! I wonder how many of his snaps actually are usable? It's like hunting with a AK-47 - spray the field with a lot of pictures, you're sure to get 1 or 2 hits.

  • @atrayue What do you mean by usable? In sharp focus? I bet 80% are "usable", considering he pre-focuses and pre-exposes.

  • I love his work. Instead of "pretty" pictures like every other photographer, Bruce's photography always has a story behind it, which, in my opinion, is what it's all about. Does it speak to you? It does. And his photos are loud as shit.

  • I shoot street and trust me this guy is really gutsy. Masterful really. He's achieving images that no one else will because no one will approach the subject the way he does. I think he'll be remembered for these images he's made. I'm encouraged to be a little more gutsy myself in my shooting

  • @Carterofmars thats very inspiring

  • @Carterofmars yeah it would be easier if people nowadays wouldn't get all riled up over taking a photo of them... i don't shoot street, but i still get looks that i dont necessarily find positive...

  • picture worth a thousand words...picture of distorted fact can worth a thousand bad words. That's why media is a powerful tool for political purposes. To bad and too sad that majority of media companies here in Amercia is controlled by one group of people and everything you hear and see is in sync with their views and not for others or very little for others.

  • don't get how your comment applies to bruce gilden's interview or work.

  • Good stuff.

  • You are amazing Bruce, keep working!

  • He's my hero, I love his pictures

  • you've got it so wrong. a pair of balls and a good camera? Neither are required to take a good picture on the street. What u need is instinct & intuition. An intuitive sense of what will make an interesting photograph. And of course knowing what not to photograph.

  • No, you definitely do need a (figurative) pair of balls.

  • How so?U mean u need courage to go up to a stranger and take their picture?I think it's about having the right attitude and confidence which comes with practice and determination.I used to be shy to take people's pictures and would shoot from far away but with time my confidence grew and I just stopped worrying about it.I focused on trying make an interesting picture and shut the rest out.I also started thinking of myself as a real photographer. Its important to believe in yourself.

  • Not any idiot with a camera can take a good photo. You have no clue what it takes to be a photographer. Stick to your digi cam and leave the comments for the people that know what photography is actually about.

  • go away

  • "street photographs off a cliff" hahahaha

  • awesome!

  • I love his work!

  • Me too.
