I've noticed the discussion about wether drawing manga is easier then portrait drawing and felt like i had to add a comment of my own. I don't agree with who ever says that drawing manga is a kid's activity at the same difficulty level. It's definitely not! I do both, and i do really well at both too. People who think anime is something anyone could do has to reconsider. They are completely different styles, challenging in different ways! Uncomparable. Try to prove me wrong if you disagree.

it depends if your drawing a whole comic with backgrounds and everything, but manga often has poor shading only the outline is correct.

i agree,when i draw portriats,i find it difficult with the shading,but when i sketch out toon like iteams i find it difficult to give it that cartoon vibe to it

i learned how to draw perfectmanga in third grade

i couldnt draw a portriat perfectly until like 6th

manga is infinitely easier in the grounds hat you are drawing something already meant to be in 2d

rather than transposing a 3d image into a 2d drawing

Technically it's impossible to draw anything at all perfectly in 3d grade since your muscles arent fully developed and you haven't gained control over your body yet.

I agree with you in one aspect... if you compare a realistic portrait with a simple manga portrait then sure as heck its a lot easier.. But my original meaning was that drawing manga like the real artists is about much more than just drawing plain faces... its about creating motion, speed, creating series of images that give you the impression of that you're watching a movie... That's not simple, if you still say that is is, you're clueless.

anime takes no where near as much talent as actual drawing. This kind of stuff requires unique attention to proportions, shading, subtle things like what he expresses in their eyes and smiles. A child does anime. This on the other had his unique and can not be categorized into something as generic as anime.

So your also stating that any child can draw animatrix, ghost in the shell, akira, macros plus, Gundam, etc. Oh I am not just talking about the characters in it as well, the background has a level which is the same as portrait drawing. All I am saying it does take talent and if you can prove me wrong and denote my statement which I highly doubt anyone can then show me ;) because all your using as your base is the anime that america shows you. It takes me around 3 to five hours to draw such a thing.
