Never heard about power smoke? Diesel, more power= more smoke. Diesel engine whit that rate of power means allways a lot of smoke. MB-engine, when it's built right way, can last far longer than you belive. And don't try to teach me how diesel engine works. I had experience from 4 my own diesel cars and many cars of friends of mine. Now I'm driving whit 524TDI turbodiesel bimmer whit 180hp. She blows some black shit too :)

and newfangled, modern diesel engines are diffrent thing than over 15 year old fully mechanical diesel engines. inproper fuel to air ratio arises because engine cant burn all diesel before turbo make enough pressure to get all fuel burned and dieselpump has mechanical boost-dependent fuel injection Increase. That isn't so accurate than electrical systems. Simply it means engine gets little bit too much fuel when you push pedal to the medal. try to adjust it lower you say but then we lose power.

@tunay013 Because, these have ha modifyed diesel injector pump that gives it more diesel when the turbo is supercharging,and higher pressure, we have adjusted our diesel pressure up, we get a little smoke now, and it runs better, all modifyed mechanialy injected diesel engines, it only get's more diesel:)

but it is a turbo failiure becus the turbo doesnt cant suck enuf air to the engine andt thats why the thare is som many unburned fuel they have 3 options now thay can get a bigger turbo but then they have a turbo lag

they can re andjust the old turbo but you have a chanse to blof the hoses ore te turbo

ore you can put other injektors in the engine not the old one but a little bigger it wil have the same horsepower

Those cars smoke OFF BOOST because they have hugely modified mechanical injection pump. When the boost starts to rise smoking stops. Don't try to teach us Finns how to tune diesel mercs. :)

Myna makes the best merc pumps in the world period. Valtonen motorsport has OM606 dual-stage turbo motor with one Eaton supercharger in W123 wagon. Car puts out over 700whp and +1000Nm of torque.

@tunay013 its the large turbo, and larger injectors are what is making it smoke, so no they don't 3 options, they should leave it as is. Turbo's that big take time to spool up and produce the boost needed to burn the fuel, so until it is spooled it will shoot black smoke. bigger injectors and adjusted pump are just feeding more fuel, before that boost is built up, which would make more black smoke. These are perfectly running machines. Do a little more research on the topic.

AMAZIING!!! diesels would really help with our energy consumption, but we don't embrace them. I drive a 300D with a 240d manual 4speed trans swapped in.

However, if you drive a diesel you will have to pay some extra taxes (900$ per year or something like that, depending the car)...

Have you replaced the injector nozzles? Age doesn't matter, it's unburnt fuel from either modifications (diesels make a shit ton more power when they blow black smoke from tuning them). Or it's for a poor spray pattern from old injectors.

Less long term maintenance

better fuel economy (even modified)

Veggie oil (or any other kind) means less smoke, and alternative to diesel (it'll never run out, it can be grown again, and BTU diff is minimal, which means no real loss in performance)

oh yeah, better built (as an engine).

so what if they are a little slower? they'll still get to close to gasser cars. speed wise.

neither of those engines were offered in the 190. the red one looks like it has am om603 which was offered in the 87 300d. the black one has an om606 which is really the first "modern" diesel mercedes made. it was offered in the last two years of the w124 sedan and the next generation w210 up to 99

Your so retarded, all a turbo does AT ALL is shove more air into the engine, without more FUEL you cannot gain any more power from that extra AIR. when you add too much FUEL without enough AIR you get black smoke (basically its unburnt fuel, it cant be burnt because theres not enough air to burn it all)
