US Skins was canceled due to low ratings. While there were a lot of die hard fans who enjoyed Skins greatly, and the producers were counting on a second season (hell, everyone was counting on a second season) the ratings just weren't high enough and MTV couldn't have that. So while parents did hate the show, they were not the reason is was canceled. If a show got canceled every time parents and adults disagreed with it, there would be no network television.

Some shows return even with low ratings.(Like Family guy back in the day I.E) Skins problem was the show lost its sponsors due to the fact that some people were saying the show was borderline softcore child porn becaue of how young the main cast was. The sponsors got scared,pulled there ads, ect. No Sponsors = no money
