  • nice video.

  • Oh yes dont pet me forget everyone is trying to justify themselves and their beliefs .so much for objectivity.....

  • yeah whatever ,max plank a christian ,...etc etc.video for the believers of super natural and paranormal.....good luck.mixing physics with made up ideas and time wasting stuff is not doing any service to anyone ...land on earth.

  • ΚΑΙ ΠΑΛΙ ΜΠΡΑΒΟ ΓΙΑ ΤΗΝ ΠΡΟΣΠΑΘΕΙΑ ΣΟΥ...

  • But what is the mind?

Is the mind not governed by the laws of physics?

  • @nickharvey7 Yes, this is the idea. That the mind has its own laws. For instance, if you get angry with someone and harm him/her, you will have to pay the consequences, and this is due to an ethical law present in another realm, not due to a physical law. What physical law could that be?

  • @VideoTranslations The laws of physics are universal, so consciousness must be governed by these laws also. Newton’s laws of motion and gravity must apply to consciousness in a more advanced form.

  • @nickharvey7 Newton's laws do not even apply to quantum mechanics, so how could they apply to consciousness?

  • @VideoTranslations Yes, but is this because we only have a mathematical understanding of quantum mechanics. It seems to me an easy way out to just say it’s all down to consciousness when we don’t understand the process that forms consciousness. How can we use consciousness to explain quantum mechanics when we don’t understand consciousness?

  • @nickharvey7 When you read about the behavior of nature in wave form, then you get some sense of the mental dimension of the universe. But this nature is not matter at all. What kind of material object can be at wo different places at the same time, travel backwards in time, and so on? There are many books about these things, written by even mainstream physicists. I propose that you read them, to have an inspiring sense of the wonder that nature at (and mind) truly are.

  • @VideoTranslations Yes the wave nature of matter can explain a lot of the paradoxes of quantum physics, but only if these waves are forming the passage of time within their own reference frame. Like you say “What kind of material object can be at two different places at the same time, travel backwards in time” Only waves that form their own spacetime by collapsing into photons of quantized energy forming their own time photon by photon or moment by moment.

  • If you search it from that point of view, then yes, it may be possble to move towards a law that unifies nature and mind. But not through the laws of gravity and motion you refer to. You have to take a holistic approach to nature. Because mind is that part of us which has not become separate (a physical body), mind is by its own nature holistic.

  • @VideoTranslations Yes! But in quantum mechanics all objects collapse the wave-particle duality of light not just consciousness objects like observers. Could consciousness not be the most advanced part of a universal process formed by the wave-function collapsing and reforming? This could form what consciousness feels as the passage of time and see as gravity and motion.

  • @nickharvey7

I understand you say that perhaps the collapse of the wave-function comes first, then (through it) comes the formation of consciousness and the objects of consciousness (space and time). Is this correct?

  • @VideoTranslations Yes in an evolutionary sense the wave-function must have be here before the evolution of life. So there is no way that the w-function was formed by consciousness. But we have the w-function here and now continuously collapsing everywhere even within our own minds. I believe consciousness feels this process has the forward passage of time formed by the w-function continuously collapsing and reforming.

  • @nickharvey7 I’m not knowledgable enough of quantum mechanics to know exactly what you are talking about. But I will tell you the following. Some people believe that mind/consciousness is at the base of existence / the universe, and others believe it is a secondary thing, produced by matter.

  • Both ideas have existed since antiquity. Only the jargon differs, now we may put it in terms of quanta or the wave function, but the idea is the same: that we are a product of matter, that our consciousness is a product of matter.

  • I am a teacher of yoga, and a yogi experiments with consciousness. He deprives of his consciousness its connection with matter, in order to become able to experience consciousness AS SUCH. In the end there is a particular experience that one has, which discloses to him the nature of consciousness The experience is a definite and explosive thing, and either it comes or it doesn’t. If it comes, it opens up a new perspective and you take it up from there.

  • @VideoTranslations Yes this can happen in yoga and also in meditations there must be a scientific reason for this! In quantum mechanics we have something called superposition, when a quantum particle is isolated it can be in many places at the same time, this must be happening in the mind of the person doing the yoga or meditations. This in no way undermines your faith but gives it a more scientific base.

  • It did come to me. I experienced the nature of consciousness and how it relates to time. The truth is that consciousness is at the base of everything. It exists even apart from the universe and apart of time, and by its own motion it creates time.

That is the spiritual view. I propose that if you take it from there, this idea will inspire you to find ways to go deeper within yourself.

  • If you don’t take it from there, then you’ll be looking for ways to feel more secure, to feel a part of things and to identify with matter. And this will not contribute to your existential progress.

Only the names are different. Today we are talking about the same thing that Plato and the sophists were discussing. Only the jargon differs.

  • @VideoTranslations My motive is to understand this scientifically it is true that we are talking about the same thing that Plato and the sophists were discussing, but we have come a long way in our understanding since then. I have also experienced the nature of consciousness, but this is different to having a scientific understanding of it. Hopefully one day our spiritual view and scientific understanding will be the same!

  • Try to discern your psychological motive. Would you really prefer that you come at some point of the process rather than that you have always existed? How do you understand yourself? How open would you be to a disclosure, from within yourself, of yourself as an immortal thing?

At base, it is really a psychological issue. When you are attracted to matter, you feel it comes before you. When you are not, you feel you come before it. Am I not right?

  • Sorry I can not speak in terms of quantum mechanics. I have not done the readings. But there is a lot of scientific analysis that you can find on the internet.

  • You believe that it is the “easy solution” for one to believe it is possible for the observer to influence material events. I don’t agree. I believe that the universe has a mental side, and it is infinitely complicated. With our small minds, we really have no grasp of how complicated it is and of the unbelievable wonders that the mind is capable of - whether we are talking about a universal mind or a smaller mind.

  • @VideoTranslations Thanks for all your comment I found them very interesting! It would be nice to have a scientific understanding of all this. I said or was trying to say that it’s an easy solution to say that consciousness forms the paradoxes of quantum physics when we don’t really know what consciousness is or how it works. I am not in any way saying that what you believe or your faith can’t influence material events. But this is not what is happening in quantum physics.

  • (this comment is the last in the row)

@nickharvey7 Ok. I don't want to waste your time. If your soul tells you you are moving in the right direction, why should I make any comment? It knows best.

  • The mind can interact with the quantum level. If you think of the mind as brain only, you are stuck. One’s mind is connected to the whole cosmos. It is not isolated in private property.

  • It is indeed mind-boggling to think that mind creates reality. And yet, isn’t this what life is all about? Energizing the mind, experimenting with the mind, discovering its potential, its creative ability.

  • It is possible to experience parallel universes. When the saints appear to people in their sleep, a parallel universe opens up and there you get a glimpse of the creative function of the mind.

I hope these isolated remarks have been helpful.
