I'm a 42 year old grandmother who became addicted to oxycodone after maintaining an injury in a car accident on my way to see my newborn grandson in the NICU. After a year and a half struggling, and 2 rehabs that didn't work, I went on methadone. I've been an exceptional methadone patient with zero desire to abuse, and have a very supportive family. I'd love to have this option. I can't. It costs $10,000.
you go boy thats the way you do that shit stay clean and happy it is not just a body withdraw it is most diff a mind thing as well we as addicts must know this to change...
I dont get how people can use so much oxycodone or any pain killer that much a day. I had almost 200 5mg oxycodones and I would only some at night. Never during the day. I always use everything like its fun. If I was to so much like this guy it would not be fun and I would end up looking like crap.
@opiatescom I don't have the money for the treatment but if someone can help, I would be more than willing to do this. I'm 47 male, married for 24 years with best kids. I m on 5 Oxy 80 m day. If I can come off this med cuz of back injury, I would want to remarry my wife. She has been my life and my love. I would do anything for her. She is the greatest wife ever! Thank you.
as a current oxy addict,i can attest to the severe addiction this drug can cause.I'm trying hard to stay off them....i think about them EVERYDAY.I fight the urge with all i have...i've managed to cut way back, but still break down several times a month.I'm improving steadily.I'm gonna make it.My good friend died on my floor on just 5 percocet 10's.I gave CPR,to my horror, blood poored out of his nose, and mouth, couldn't save him.Rob was a light user,he took them while drunk. He's my grim motivation
sorry to disappoint anybody but this method might work for short term users (1 or 2 years) but for people that have been using for over 5 to 10 years it's no good. this guy is not done yet.
There is no disapointment here. We treat patients that have been taking opiates for decades and they go through the process very succesfully.
The point here is to detox a patient in a HUMANE manner without them being sick for weeks. If the patient needs after care to deal with emotional and social aspects of addiction , they are guided to it after procedure. But regardless what the aftre care entails they have to start but getting detox first.
I live in Paris France and I just came out of rehab after using opiates for about 10 years, I was at 16 mg of subutex a day and after 12 days of physical detox the real problems started, about a month later I was suppose to work but my doctor told me that it was way to early and that I needed more time, I'm leaving next week in a rehab center for an other 3 months, thank you so much for answering my comment, you're the only one that has bothered yet (excuse my English).
@alexandreleverrier ..u so right..u cant just change the way your brain hard wired...the craving will be immense if you got a genuine hard core habit and i for one know full well that it would not work for me...like u say he far from clean...prob already back on the gear has we watch..
Antagonist drugs are NOT addictive simply because they do not react when they bind to the receptors in your body. In fact, they do the opposite, they block or dampen other drugs(Agonists) from connecting to your body receptors. So, Naltrexone is not a narcotic, it's the opposite of it and it causes NO dependency or withdrawal. I know it's a little confusing but I wanted to get the record straight. Agonist - Opioids, Antagonist - Naltrexone.
Naltrexone unlike Suboxone or other replacement drugs is NOT and opiate. In fact, it acts in the opposite way of an opiate, consequently the name Opioid Antagonist. On the other hand, Opiates or Opioids are considered agonist drugs because they react with your body when they bind with the receptors in your brain and other parts of your body (example is the feeling of euphoria associated with opioids).
Personally i don't believe that naltrexone can stop cravings, it 'might' help mediate them but certainly not eliminate them. It does however make using any opioid agonists a pointless endeavour and a waste of money but eliminate cravings, not really.
It also blocks the natural opioid activity in the brain that occurs all the time and particularly when exercising, this is how a lot of fitness freaks get their highs, relatively higher endorphin release compared to not exercising.
I quit an 11 month habit 4 months ago cold turkey and i still have intermittent insomnia and pain where it feels like im back in w/ds again. its getting less and less though. im not sure about this painless treatment program, i went thru w/ds on my own and the horrible pain from it all has conditioned me never to touch that stuff again. also quit cigs the same day cuz for some reason they caused precipitated withdrawal for me. if instead my treatment was painless im not sure id be as well off...
I'm now on subs to get high more than anything but it helps. Snort about 2mg of buprenorphine (suboxone/subutex) and it lasts me like 8-20 hours, it varies alot. 2 mg feels like 20-30 mg of OC but it much more MILD. I'm tryna wean offa this stuff. It's not easy. And sorry for any mistakes in my comment I'm pretty tired/high right now
@vap420 Yes, it can make a big difference in some cases.
Snorting oxycodone probably won't increase the bioavailability 'that' much, one study suggests it lowered it when "Insufflated" (45% compared to 60 - 87% oral). The main difference will be in the destruction of the time release mechanism turning prolonged sustained release in to instant release.
@vap420 The bioavailability of drugs can vary HUGELY depending on the route of administration. Heroin for example has a very low oral bioavailability, yet other drugs such as diazepam (or valium) have extremely high oral bioavailability easily 90% or more.
Some drugs simply aren't suitable for oral administration and will come as a transdermal patch such as nicotine.
The route of administration can be a major factor in the effectiveness of a given drug.
I've popped them, chewed them, and snorted. Never smoked oc or injected it. It's very addictive guys please don't start and if u are or do, get offof it get clean guys. Please
Oxycodone > morphine >>> codiene (mg for mg) in my opinion. Anyways I took oxycodone (active ingredient in oxycontin) for like 2+ years. Started at 15mg to get high then soon built up to 25 then I was up to about 40 mgs and it only lasts like 2-3 hrs.
@mvbali94116 actually, very little people die from it outside of overdose, but i've watched two of my best friends not die from it, but have literally every drive of theirs sucked into just wanting oxy, and becoming destined for rock bottom, that's what oxy does, chances are it won't kill you, but I think deep down both of them would rather be dead than continue on their existence
hope this kids still clean, people need to know how hard addition is,they dont choose for this to happen, and its easy for people to look down on junkies but if it was in there family they would soon be open minded.
THIS IS NOT CODEINE!!! It's just as hard on these people or harder, because alot of oxycontin addicts were only doing as their doctor requested. I, myself, knew that heroin was wrong & no doctor prescribed it to me, so becoming a junkie was my fault & my fault only! Thank God that you, flute4hire, could lay down codeine without pain. This is the difference between addicts & non-addicts? We, addicts, cannot physically stop without extreme pain & in some cases death! Sick is sick & that's that!
@FreedomJunkie420 Absolutely! I've been on oxy & percocet for 6years. Anyone who knows about this knows it's nothing that someone likes except @ the very very beginning. It destroys you & is like you're dead even when you're alive you are NOT living.
@flute4hire ...with u on this one..whole world of difference between this stuff and heroin and morphine....find it hard to swallow that people are in such addiction to codeine..think a lot of it is imagined......i been on morphine for 8 yrs (huge dosage} and i know i would struggle to come off it..but when was on codeine i could drop it at will.
