  • Haha love ur body... Leading by example bro?

  • hardcore injury...and he still manages a cheeky wee smile...love your body lol

  • But Steve, if you eat before a workout wont that spike your insulin levels and reduce the amount of growth hormone you produce during the workout thereby decreasing your gains?

  • cleary you dont know what your talking about.i hope people dont follow your advice! 'it doesnt matter if you eat or not eat before exercising' how does that make sense?? yeah if you wana pass out because you exercising on a emty stomuch, your body needs food to givr you energy to burn it off,its basics!!!

  • Wow, He snapped his shit up!!

  • am i the only one that thinks it's hilarious he still says "love your body" after explaining how he ripped his elbow off training? haha love the videos steve.

  • @legendstheband nope lol that was funny

  • How the fuck do you tear off your tricep while weight lifting?! lol What move were you doing?!?!

by the way your videos are excellent keep up the good wrk

  • i cracked up when you explained your injury

  • How accurate are online body fat calculators? because I used one yesterday and it says my BF was 18% i'm not sure if I believe it. I'm 19, male, 6ft tall, 34inch waist and 175lbs, i'm skinny enough to see my ribs and feel my spine so I think 18% BF is a little inaccurate.

  • lol. "I ripped my tricep off of my elbow...love your body" I thought that was funny, but I understand!

    -Dylan

  • Steve's legs are like tree trunks.

  • DONT. WORK. OUT. ON. A. FULL .STOMACH...unless you enjoy projectile vomiting...

  • it is hard to find good shorts, Steve must have found a good place to get his shorts.

  • @dickersonlonnie Big legs and a 29 inch waist don't make for easy shopping.

  • @BodyPerformanceTV yeah, finding clothes when you're a mesomorph is interesting... I've a 18" neck, 50" chest and a 34" waist ... all the shirts I find need tailoring... I've got 27.5" quads... so even some 'relaxed-fit' pants are tight... I tend to buy 36" pants and wear a belt... :)

... only a 29" waist? I'm assuming you're not 6'3" like I am, LOL. I'd be a corpse in order to be smaller than about 33"...

  • @BodyPerformanceTV 29 ?!?!?!? holy shiz

  • @BodyPerformanceTV youre not even 35" waste, a person with 29" waste is in grade 8 or 10

  • do you have any remedy for lipodystrophy?

    Thank you in advance.

  • @dickersonlonnie 3 words. Brazilian fashion store. Peace out.

  • that was a beautiful story about ur elbow and triceps tendon JK

  • What happened to your left arm ???????

  • Yeah i can see how u love ur body lol

  • I don't want to go on the training programme he was doing anyway!!

  • @MAKEaCRAWLER Weight training is to build muscle. If you are using it as a form of cardio to try to burn fat, then you are mistaken. The amount of calories burned weight training, or even doing cardio, is too little to make the sort of difference you are talking about. Check you facts. Note well, I am not attacking you, so don't get on your high horse. Just check it out.

  • @cmk1964 Having muscle helps you burn fat, because the more muscle you have on your body the faster your metabolic rate is. Even Steve mentions this all the time.

  • The shortest videos, but packed full of the best tips. There is just so much misinformation circulating, that it is wonderful to hear someone saying it as it really is. No BS, just facts. Thanks a lot steve.

  • good advice!

  • good advice

  • BULL SHIT!!!!! This guy gives terrible advice. If you eat too close to the time before you workout, you'll vomit during the workout. I'd say don't eat more than your fist size at least 5-10 hours before you workout. this should allow plenty of time for the food to move from the stomach and into the lower intestines. This advice would be for hardcore interval training that usually lasts about an hour.

  • @Solowizard

I'm calling bullshit on your post. For HIIT, you would want liquid protein and liquid carbs 20-60 minutes prior. Going more than 5 hours without food is silly if you must force yourself to do so

  • What's your opinion on meal frequency regarding metabolism; eg: they say if you eat 6 meals a day you will burn more calories then if you were eating 3 meals a day. Does this have any affect on weight loss/weight gain?

  • I need those shorts :)

  • @Datastaple LOL. No, YOU need big legs!

  • @BodyPerformanceTV I've been trying for a long time, but squats and clean and jerks hurt my lower back, even when I use a weight belt.

  • just watched like 5 of ur vids..and u my friend have found yourself a new subscriber..

  • @kairisboifriend

  • I do eat but very little before working out after a workout sardines and steamed veggies is a good example

    great videos you have thanks

  • Hi ya thank you for all your weight training wisdom, I'm 250 pounds 5 foot 10 at the mo and need to bring this down to human levels, I do a relativley physical/aerobic (window washing) job. I have trained in the past and can still see a muscular frame under my mass, basically I'm not just 250pound blob. Do I focus on running or weight training? My Body loves to build muscle, not run,so I bike or row. Do I go with what comes natural 45min aerobic followed by 1 hour weights? Thanks

  • ur nt a doctor so im not going to listen you

  • Steve hurt his arm wrestling a bear. God's speed Steve.

  • @biped19 Thanks! All better now!

  • @biped19 No he wrestled chuck norris lol

  • Good news for me

  • i really hate when i get injured cause i can't workout even when i want to

  • @liesoul Both will work but eating less is easier. I would do BOTH and achieve my goal much faster. Plus the walking will help you get healthier.

  • Hey steve. Im wondering, is it possible to build muscle without taking any protein powders after your workout but eating healthy proteins such as chicken? Will this give me the same results if i was to take protein powders?

    Thanks

  • @bougelaal ABOLUTELY!!!!

  • this dude knows his shit

  • hahaahahahah OMG this is hilarious,,

  • Damn I bet that must have hurt, sorry to hear that Steve :(

  • I like how he calmly just says "Tore my triceps tendon and ripped off my elbow" like just going "I went to the shop yesterday".

  • @RenegadeOfSociety LOL! Gotta be tough!

  • @BodyPerformanceTV "If you wondering why I'm on a hospital bed with no limbs and only half my torso, I was shot to pieces by a .50 cal machine gun before being blown up by C4, then fed to Alligators, got digested, turned into a newt by a Magician and somewhere along the line got raped by 20 men simultaneously, but yeah, I won't be able to work out my biceps again until next week" lol.

By the way, If you don't mind me asking, what is your Max Bench? Just curious

  • @RenegadeOfSociety 385 lbs. at 195 pounds.

  • @BodyPerformanceTV Impressive for weight =)

Though I want to be pretty huge, I'd rather do it the slow way and have the strength to go with it rather than the quick way and weigh 230lbs but have a max bench of 150lbs like alot of people do.

I've seen bigger guys lose arm wrestles to smaller guys in front of crowds and its as embaressing for them as being a clown which has fallen off a unicycle on a high rope, plummeted to an undignified death in costume all mangled in front of a laughing crowd.

  • @RenegadeOfSociety lol get a girlfriend and stop worrying about be a tough bloke

if you wanted to be a tough bloke you shouldve been born 30-40 years ago and grew up before forensics

theres no place in the world anymore for the tough guy except dead or in jail

  • @johnosandra I was only saying it was embaressing when someone bigger is outlifted by someone smaller.

be honest, you just don't like me cause im english and we just beat you in the ashes lol

  • @RenegadeOfSociety i respect the british and thats it for the uk

  • @johnosandra lol, we're not particularly liked, we're absolutely hated by just about every country in the world, but no1 hates a brit more than another brit lol.

I do agree with you though that theres no place for 'tough guys' in this day in age though, like, in WW1, everyone was forced into the trenches and had to charge against machine gun nests and everything and if they refused they were shot, or when people had to stand in lines reloading a musket while being shot at from 20ft away.

  • @RenegadeOfSociety lol i like the time when hitler invaded the french and the british held their own and didnt think twice about fighting , respect

  • @johnosandra its a shame that the countries gone so down hill since though :(, they should have never done away with national service where everyone had to serve in the forces for 2 years at the age of 16, and as a result the countries softened up and now, if we were invaded, everyone would be too busy moaning if the councils gonna collect there bins on time lol.

Im currently trying to get in the parachute regiment, need to run 1.5 miles in under 9 minutes though.

steve torano, can you help me?

  • @BodyPerformanceTV are u only 195 pounds

    you look alot bigger

you must be 4ft tall lol

  • @RenegadeOfSociety LMFAOOOOOOO !!

  • well i understand the biology of the human body is really really complicated and there are soooooooooooo many factors that take place in weight-loss. I often wondered about if it was better to eat before exercising or after and I think you might be right in that all that matters is if you expend the energy you take in.

  • It does make a difference... if you are trying to build muscle by gym training, you should eat after your session.

  • first of all, so sorry to hear about your arm man. hope it's gets better soon if it hasnt yet already. Secondly, doesnt your facts about it doesnt matter when you eat totally contradict everything i've ever been told from books or personal trainers? Unless you are strictly talking about just loosing weight and not building muscle. If not, you are saying that your meals timely before and after lifting arent important. Why are U the only one saying this? And i know you host the radio show :)

  • @trashbash2001 It does but personal trainers, bodybuilders, and supplement sellers aren't educated experts.

  • @BodyPerformanceTV Well, I never said anything about bodybuilders and supplement sellers, but what you are saying is that every person that i have ever met in my life that has stepped foot in a gym, including the ones that are in amazing shape (naturally, no juice) are ALL giving misleading advice on a builders diet. I'm not gonna lie, you've got my head spinning on this one. It just doesnt sound logical, lol. NO OFFENSE please. I know you're the expert here.

  • @trashbash2001 I agree everyhing he says in all his videos completely contradicts everything I have ever heard and my personal experience.

  • ah ha

  • when you tore the tricep do you think it could have been avoided? I realise that you must push heavy weights but was there something you wish you had or not done. Maybe pushing big weights isnt always a good idea?

  • @soundmusiclover The triceps tore because I cracked my elbow doing jujtsu but didn't know it. When the crack broke then the triceps tore.

  • @BodyPerformanceTV ouch!, i also got injured while sparring in jujitsu, my shoulder got dislocated after i tried to slam down my opponent DX

  • when should yotu eat

  • Hi Steve, i keep hearing that you should eat 15 to 30 minutes after you workout, or 80% of your workout is put to waste. Is there a specific time range when you should eat? Does it really matter when you eat after your workout or is it just the workout that counts?........thanks.

  • @LOYALTOTHEGAME2 That's an old wives tale. Taking in glucose is the most important thing after a workout. Therefore having a glass of Gatorade would be the best. That's what I do. Then I just have a normal dinner.

  • dang you ripped your bicep i wonder how much that hurt

  • @padachuggiTKD Triceps. And broke the elbow too. The elbow was cracked doing MMA and I didn't realize it. Then it broke off when I was lifting.

  • @BodyPerformanceTV That sounds terrible!

  • @j0j0joanna It wasn't fun! :O)

  • man im 19 years old living in pakistan and i have to say....the advice you give is far more useful then what my trainers tell me.....keep up the good work :D

  • I usually do cardio workouts when i wake up since i havent had anything to eat the body gets the energy from the stored fat which i believe it burns fat faster.

  • man you r doing great job..

  • ive watched a lot of videos on what to eat before and after a workout.. and this is the only one thats made any sense to me man, if you exercise, and eat healthy throughout the day.. you're gonna see results, end of!

  • i've heard that if you wake up in the morning and workout without consuming anything, your body will use your muscles as a source of energy instead of your fats. Fat is only burnt when you're facing starvation, but not exercising. is that true?

  • @carrieyami That's total bullshit.

  • How does it not matter steve?

So it does not make a difference if lets say if I am trying gain muscle mass and I eat 6 meals. I try to eat 5 meals before I workout so I would use all the energy from these 5 meals to help me lift more. Is that possible, because I want to workout before 4 meals but always think I am not going to have enough energy for heavy weights. So is it true if you eat more meals before a workout then you will have more strength than you would eat less meals?

  • damn what happened to your hand??

  • @shlucke Cracked Got hit in the elbow with a piece of baboo while during jujutsu. That cracked the elbow but I didn't know it. Then the elbow ripped off when I was lifting. Check out my buddies You Tube videos Jujutsu 101.

  • I have maybe a dumb question, I did wonder about the act of eating during a workout, something small of course like nuts, or trail mix. Question is, would snacking during a workout possibly keep the energy level higher than it would as you continue the training?

  • @dunivanh Good question. It probably would only really be beneficial during aerobic activity since carbs are needed to help burn fat while exercising.

  • @BodyPerformanceTV i consider circuit training to be an aerobic exercise, i consume a good amount of carbs and basic glucose before and sometimes during. But then again I only workout 30 minutes so no long lasting carb would be beneficial during my workout if I ate it during the exercise

  • @BodyPerformanceTV

isent it so that your body wants to recover afther you burned instead when you are training

  • get well soon my friend!

  • do you get any advantage by not eating before you do cardio?

  • @brandonwray71 Nope.

  • @brandonwray71 yes, you do, brits just did the research on that....

  • umm ,excuse me sir i have searched in most of ur videos about how to start bodybuilding , do i need to lose weight and should i start with warming training and what these trainings are , if u can show me the link of that video i wll be thxful.

  • I agree with a large number of your videos however this one i would disagree with i'm afraid. I think you have targeted this video for someone looking for weight loss, if this is the case then i will almost agree with you however when training my swimmers and PT clients if they are not taking the correct nutrition in before or after sessions i'd love for you to come and see the effects of this after training. It would be interesting to know was this for weight loss or all clients?

  • @SouthWestPT I have NEVER said good nutrition is not important or will not improve performance or recovery for the elite athlete!!! For AVERAGE people doing AVERAGE training it's not that critical. Good nutrtion is important and make weight loss easier BUT it's not CRITICAL for weight loss.

  • cleared up a lot for me, i could never decide when to eat, i hate working out on an empty stomach, because i feel tired when i'm at the gym, i don't like working out on a full stomach because i feel bloated.should i just eat smaller portions before a workout? get better soon

  • @ilnn408 woops this video was over 2 years ago, i'm sure you're better now

  • I drink some soda or water with sugar b4 and after my workout. gives me more energy.

  • lol your smile at the end of the vid is awkward

  • Running on a full or empty stomach causes cramps.. If you dont wanna cramp, eat an hour and a half before you run and drink water 30 minutes before you run so your not on a full or empty stomach. You will notice that you will not cramp as much.

  • hope u feel better.

  • what about the hormonal responses? that ultimately affect your results

  • great advice!

  • i prefer to eat something 30mins pre workout or or even have a protein shake just so i have that extra energy in the gym working out on a empty stomach for me leaves me running out of energy too soon hence not getting a full intense workout

  • "Isn't an event" hahaha, you're hilarious.

  • I agree with this guy ! Everything he says And I am living proof. I do whateve eat whatever and lift whenever and im solid at 170 pounds.

  • how did u injure ur self if you dont mind me asking?

  • @iceicebuddha Got hit in the elbow with a piece of baboo while during jujutsu. That cracked the elbow but I didn't know it. Then the elbow ripped off when I was lifting.

  • i like your videos!!! i think i just hit my plateau stage how can i overcome this i'm not gaining any more muscle..i've heard of changing the workout but i dont get it..you have to do bench presses;tricep head crushers and so on....how can u change to overcome the plateau effect..Thxs!!!

  • huh?

  • will eating fiber b4 a workout make me uncomfortable? let's say I eat fruit for energy (sugar).

  • I guess that depends

If you eat 5 pounds of spinach

the question is if you feel uncomfortable with a slew of crap pouring out of your ass while your working out

if that's fine with you then go for it

  • "Weight lifting is a ballistic, or explosive movement...", "...it's an explosive movement. It's aggressive...". All respect, but I'll bet your elbow/tricep would argue with you about rep speed now.

  • LOL! Hardly. Got hit in the elbow with a piece of baboo while during jujutsu. That cracked the elbow but I didn't know it. Then the elbow ripped off when I was lifting. But I aprreciate your asshole comment.

  • lol. burn.

  • Comment removed

  • @BodyPerformanceTV Is that a dislocation you have?

I dislocated my right shoulder just over 5 months ago and I was wondering if it's been long enough to heal. I trained regularly before the dislocation and received proper physio up until the insurance stopped covering it. I have been doing the excerises with the band since then and still not completely sure if it's good. What is your opinion?

  • No. Got hit in the elbow with a piece of baboo while during jujutsu. That cracked the elbow but I didn't know it. Then the elbow ripped off when I was lifting. 1. Did the dislocation causes any tears? 2. Was an x-ray or MRI taken? 3. When you return to lifting TEST the shoulder by using machines instead of free weights (safer) especially for pressing movements and limit your range of motion until the joint & muscle become stronger.

  • hey steve im wondering if cardio is better or lifting weights

  • @kissntellen Cardio is better for weight loss. Weight Lifting is better for muscle building.

  • i've heard that exercising too soon after eating can cause digestive problems because your taking the blood from your stomach needed to help digest.

  • @WroughtDeathVids It depends on the individual. Theres also more great info on my BlogTalkRadio show. Once there search Steve Turano. The show can also be downloaded from iTunes. • @ 1:24 did he just say LUV YOU BYE?

hahaha swear i heard something like that... LOL

  • he said 'love your body' haha

  • @bigal8701 "Love your body"

  • hahaha it does sound like actualy.,..love you bye ^^

  • by the tnx really for your videos but i have one question im quite confuse how come many are saying you cant lose fat and build muscle at the same time while you sir claims you can. I dont know which to believe then. Hope youl reply Tnx a lot

  • You CAN put on muscle while losing fat. I do it all the time. The reason most don't think you can is because most do not know how to do it. It requires that you keep very good records of your daily eating pattern and weight and waist measurements. It requires that you keep your daily caloric deficits at 400 or less calories. I know of VERY FEW lifters who track their activity like that. Since they don't, they cannot successfully put on muscle while losing fat.

  • Never ever eat within 30mins of a workout!!!! When you have a meal, the food will travel through your intestines and stomach and your body will allocate more blood to the intestines etc so that the various minerals, amino acids etc etc will be absorbed into the body. If you have a substantial meal straight before a workout, you run the risk of blacking out!

To bulk up, eat a small high protein meal (20-40g of protein) i.e tuna sandwich, no less then and no more then an hour before a workout.

  • GOODNIGHT!!! You ripped off your elbow?!! I enjoy your videos, very informative, thank you Steve. With all due respect though, I find part of this video somewhat comical. After telling us that you just ripped off your elbow you still ended with "love your body"! I was thinking this time you were going to end it by saying,"try not to loose a limb"! I tease with kindness. I hope you've made a full recovery. Thanks again Steve, for your time and availability to give out this good info. chad

  • Thanks. I unknowingly cracked the elbow doing MMA (Jujutsu 101) and then the elbow broke when I was lifting.

  • What? You don't eat before you work-out! That is wrong!

  • ouch, but still sexy

  • how come i keep hearing you need protein immediately after your workout so you can stay anabolic

  • That's what protein companies want you to believe and idiot lifters keep telling other idiot lifters that we need tons of protein.

  • we DO need lots of proteins , after 1 work out , i make sure to eat enough protenine full stuff .. ít helps recover the mussels very fast , maybe you should do that 2 . then your tricep recovers faster :P:P hahaha

    love your movies do ...

    greets from holland

  • lol tore a trycep off bloody hell mate that must have hurt abit

  • Broke the elbow and tore the tricep. Yep, it hurt. I didn't realize I had cracked the elbow a month earlier doing Jujutsu.

  • what happened did you lift something too heavy

  • you are hot! love your videos....are you married yet? if not....good news for me :-)

  • Nope, never married.

  • Thats gotta be painful Hope you can get full recovery on your triceps.

  • Your shorts are pretty darn short...
